Entrance Exam Part 6

Michale and his group collapsed immediately after the Wendigo was out of sight. They all sat down next to each other making sure to keep an eye on their surroundings so that monsters didn't sneak up on them. Athea spoke up first, she spoke in a gruff manner, trying her best not to wheeze while she spoke.

"That was easier than I thought *Huff* usually a Wedngio would at least be equal to a 2-circle mana."

It was Druxia who spoke up next.

"It was probably a runt, abandoned by its pack those usually die pretty quickly in the wild, but one of the teachers probably caught it before something bigger ate it."

For a while, they sat still not talking, and instead focused on recovering their strength and making sure their injuries weren't too serious. It was Michael who broke the silence.

"I suppose we should get to know each other a bit more, how about we talk about why we're all applying to the Royal Phoenix Academy."

They nodded in unison.

"I'll go first, like most of you I'm here to get stronger, and the reason why is because when I was younger I used to live in a border city and one day an entire army of Devil Soldiers massacred us, so I just want to make sure it doesn't happen to anyone else."

Hearing that they looked away unable to respond to what Michael just said. It was Lyn who broke the awkward silence.

"Well, unlike most Set priests and priestesses, I felt more comfortable using blunt instruments instead of the usual spear and bow."

"But unfortunately most of the temples I've visited don't really have any paladins who specialize in my type of combat, so I came here to learn all I can."

Next, it was Druxia who spoke while stretching.

"For me I always wandered around aimlessly, trying to find out what my purpose was, sometimes looking for a good mana cultivation method to use."

"But I never found anything and so I decided to try my luck in the academy."

But before the next person could go, Michael, Lyn, and Druxia saw the rest of the group disappear into the earth with a splash of blood only remaining. They stared on in horror as a large creature loomed over them, slowly they looked up and saw the Wyvern. It was much larger than the normal variety and had dark yellow scales and black eyes. In its mouth were two more Wendgios, alongside the lower half of a monster they couldn't recognize.

They immediately got up and began running not paying to the direction they were going in. The Wyvern roared out dropping bits and pieces of its meal and began chasing the remaining group members with unnatural fury. As they made their way through the labyrinth, they took mostly left turns, and made sure not to go in a big circle whilst avoiding the volts as well.

The Wyvern kept its pace, going through the hallways and crushing the groups of Volts easily with the shocks not evening affecting it.

After fifteen minutes of running they hit a dead end, turning around they saw the Wyvern staring right at them, with blood staining its feet. It roared out and began walking slowly towards them. All three got their weapons ready and began sweating a bit knowing that they could possibly die even if the earth magic activates in time. Michael stood in front with both hands on his sword, Druxia held their spear out ready to get in a quick jab, and Lyn stood on the other side with her club ready to pounce.

Before Michael charged forward he felt something new, something extremely odd. He could feel an odd substance but he ignored it and charged forward, leading the charge. He went for the legs first, hoping to slow them down a little bit. The Wyvern seeing this stomped its first foot down causing a small shockwave and sending Micahel flying back. Seeing this Druxia caught him and was also flung into the wall as well. Lyn charged went over and helped them up, giving the Wyvern enough time to walk forward.

Once they got up they looked at each other and nodded, charging forward all at once. Micahel and Druxia went for both legs, hoping to injure it and slow the Wyvern down while Lyn went for the left wing. Seeing this the Wyvern took a defensive position. As Michael's sword and Druxia's spear clashed against its scales, they bounced off harmlessly not even leaving a dent. While Lyn tore a bit out of the Wyvern's wing while sending blots of electricity through her blunt weapon, injuring the Wyvern further. It roared out in fury and slapped her away and into a nearby wall.

Seeing this Michael and Druxia followed her lead, going for its wing, and began slashing at them. Slowly over time, as they dodge and were tossed around they made larger holes in their wings. Eventually, both sides grew tired and began slowing down losing their strength as the battle raged on. Michael smirked, while both Druxia and Lyn grew a little worried for their teammate's sanity. Then he jumped straight towards its mouth, while it roared out giving him an opening.

He stabbed his sword deep into the upper part of the beast's head, causing a large wound to open. Seeing this Lyn and Druxia stood agape while the Wyvern shook around, with Michael still holding onto the blade. Michael began screaming and pacing while he tried to pull the blade out of the Wyvern's maw. the Wyvern seeing this began slamming its head into the nearby wall and ground, causing several of Michael's bones to break in the process. Lyn and Druxia seeing this jumped on the Wyvern's head, Lyn bashing the Wyvern's head and eyes, keeping its attention on her.

While Druxia helped Micahel pull his blade out.

"Why on everyone gods name did you think this was a good idea!"

Micahel looked at Druxia who had the same look of panic on his face.

"Well I thought that if it was easy to put in, it would at least be somewhat easy to pull out, and obviously I was wrong!"

They screamed at each other continuously while Lyne concentrated on the Wyvern's face. Eventually, they pulled his weapon out and jumped down, with Lyn following suit and running away from the injured Wyvern who was still thrashing around. Before they lost sight of it, Micahel turned his head around and saw a look of hatred on its face, something that told him it would never forget their faces.
