Chapter 2 Stranger

Thank you for saving my life,I am sorry I didn't apologize earlier I was just in a daze.Stranger, it's no big deal, I just did what any other person in my place would do it was the right thing to do.Elena, I know but I asked others for help but no one stopped to help me,you are truly a life saver. Elena said. Stranger, this is how the world is,it's a cruel world, you have to be brave in this world otherwise you might not survive. Elena,I don't think that's true, I think the world is amazing and sweet and everybody who are living in it is fortunate to be alive to experience the goodness of the world,Elena said. Stranger, yeah that's your point of view but I for one think that your definition of this world is wrong. I mean you do look like a very young woman to me, a newly college graduate if I am not mistaken. You are just a naïve woman who doesn't know the ways of the world yet . But once you find out about the cruelties of the world , you will know that life is bittersweet. The stranger said with a sad look on his face which didn't go unnoticed by Elena. Elena, you seem to have had some sad experiences in your life. Can you please share with me what makes you think the world is so bad? Their conversation was cut short when the driver asked a question"Sir, Mam please where are you heading? Elena and the stranger snapped back to reality. Just drop me off at the seventh distinct,my apartment is at Chico street, the last building on the right.Stranger, driver please drop the madam of at Chico street the last building on the right.Driver, okay sir.They rode in silence for the rest of the journey,no one spoke a word to the other. After a half hour journey,the cab finally stopped, Elena got out of the cab.She was about to pay the cab fare but the stranger stopped her.Stranger,don't worry I will pay the fare. Elena was shocked,"what"She asked.No,no,no,no,no, you already saved my life so I should at least pay the cab fare. it's the least I can do after all you just saved me,please let me do this alright? Elena said.Stranger,no, what kind of man will I be if I let a woman pay the cab fare? Listen if you want to thank me then don't pay the cab fare, the stranger said. Elena,but....... Before Elena could complete her sentence,she was cut off by the stranger..... Stranger,no ifs or buts just do as I say alright? Okay, Elena agreed, thank you once again for saving my life.
