Adventurers City

It's been 3 days since I left Asmon Town and I'm heading toward Alay Fortress City aka Adventurers City.

Three days ago, I was preparing to leave for my adventure and packing my belongings when Eldric found a man who could assist me with my travels. My traveling companion is a merchant who sells monster items from our town to the cities. I'm grateful for her assistance once more because I had no idea how to get there.

"Hey, are you OK?"

"..oh yeah. We arrived?"

Let's not think about it anymore.

"When we reach that hell over there, you can see the city perfectly."

"Ok."

I amn't used to riding a carriage and due to the rough road, my back is in pain like hell.

So let me tell you why I am here and how I got to travel with this guy. Alay City is located near the Chaos Forest just like Asmon. But due to some magic and stuff, monster tents appear in that city more frequently and that is why a lot of adventurers go there to loot some dungeons and monsters.

"Haha, can you see that? The strongest Fortress City near the Chaos Forest."

… What is this?! This city is the coolest city I have ever seen. The thickness of the walls is so visible even though we are so far from the city.

I don't know a lot about the outside world except the things I read about (- both lives) and seeing this side of the picture is far more interesting.

"Wow."

"Haha, every time I bring new guys in here, they give the same expiration. Do you like this city? Well, no need to answer that because I know what is the answer."

"Yeah, this city is so fascinating."

"No need to be stressed, I will teach you everything you need to know after we go inside the walls. Do you bring your ID?"

"Thank you and yes I did."

It wasn't too hard to go through security. I could easily prove my authorization to carry a sword by showing them my adventurer's guild plate, which was all they needed.

There was a line waiting for our ID again. The interior hallway seems to have been well-protected from the monster's rampage.

After passing the security point, Serv introduces some Inns and how should I find the Adventurers Guild of this city.

"Hi, my name is Raol and I would like to stay the night in your inn. There is an empty room for me?"

"Oh yes, the prices are 10 elo each night and 2 elo for food."

It's higher than I was used to, but what can I do? I'm in the city so it's obvious that the prices are different.

10 oz and 6 elo is everything I have right now. I need to get on a mission as soon as possible before I use all my money.

"I'll stay for 3 nights for now and I will get the food too"

"Yes sir. Our room is ||||?|"

"Thank you."

"Oh hi. I want to see if there are any unfinished D-rank missions left for me to complete."

"Ook, give me a sec"

"Unfortunately, that is all we have left. You can still do E-rank missions or Dungeon Cleaning if you want to."

"OK give me some herb collecting related E-rank missions and I will take one of these goblin subjugation missions."

"Fine but remember. You must finish these missions in under 7 days or else you get 2 strikes which is bad for you who already have 1 strike."

"Yeah, I'll be careful."

I've previously read about this field. How does it operate? It appears to be magic. The same sage who constructed the wall surrounding Alay City also built a wall around Chaos Forest, the largest city on the continent, allowing weak monsters to be contained in one place for farming. The barrier helps the economy that revolves around monster hunting while shielding the cities from destructive monsters that reside deep within the forest.

The peculiar actions of monsters have a significant effect on the security and fragile economy of the populace, that's all I know.

Agh, finally some mana core, after killing more than 5 goblins. The drop rate is not on my side. The reason why only some of the monsters have mana stones and some of them don't is not complicated. Much like humans, there are existing monsters who don't have any mana in their bodies. Like me, I don't have any mana too and it's not that kind of a deal. It's not like those who have mana, have a lot of powers. For example, the merchant who was traveling with me before also had mana, but he couldn't use it and needed protection.

9 elo. ONLY 9 elo!. That is so cheap compared to Asmon Town. Isn't it supposed to be more expensive because I am a C-rank?!

Nope, that won't do. At this rate, I'm going to sleep outside. Tomorrow I will look for a party for a dungeon crawl. The money that you can get from a dungeon core is much better than hunting.

I need to get some intelligence before I start hunting tomorrow.
