Chapter 39 : Favor For a Friend

Mae had never felt more relieved when she returned back to Henry’s father’s house with all of her important things from her father’s house packed in suitcases. She dragged herself up the stairs wanting nothing more than to lay quiet and still in the safe embrace of Henry’s arms.
She pushed the door open to his room to find it was empty. It looked a bit like he walked out in a hurry. A brief bit of concern came over her, but she let it pass as she tossed her bag in the corner. She felt certain if something was really wrong, she’d know.
She grabbed the pillow from his side of the bed and inhaled his scent while she cuddled up on the bed, begging her muscles to relax.
Mae wasn’t sure how long she laid there; it felt like only moments later the door busted open and Henry stood there with an elated expression.
“Mae!” he exclaimed. “I’m so glad you’re back!”
