“They could still be inside.” Keith said, opening his door. I went to open mine before he reached over and placed his hand on my wrist. “Don’t you even think it.” His grip slightly tightened as I turned my head to be almost nose to nose with him. “If the person is still inside, you could get hurt or worse.”
I looked at the worry across his face. I nodded as he slowly let my wrist go. He got out of the truck and came over to my side. “Call the police.”
“Don’t you go inside!” I exclaimed.
He just grinned. “I am glad you care.” He said looking back at the house. “I was going to, till you showed you cared about what happens to me.”
I growled and dialed the emergency number. It wasn’t long before the police came. I got out of the car, but Keith stayed behind me.
“Is this your house?” The police asked me. I nodded feeling nervous in front of the policeman. Keith grasped my hand.
