Steins;Gate— The Singularity

Ruka Urushibara, that's my name. Today is New Years Eve but I never expected this day to be more extraordinary than usual. I remembered the memories of my past life and how this world is from an anime. "Why do I have to be a trap though?"

"So, what is it that you want to talk about?" Kurisu asked without hesitation.

She was curious as to why he would go out of his way to expose his supposed to be hidden secret base just to talk to them privately.

"Well, first things first. I wanna know your view on this. Do you think time travel is possible?" Ruka asked her.

"Of course, it's impossible. Although in theory it was possible, it's not physically possible." Kurisu denied it.

"What about the Phone Microwave?" Ruka asked again.

"You are right that it can indeed send messages to the past but that's its limitations. Physical time travel is impossible." Kurisu said.

"Hohoo~ It seems like you are not being honest. The Kurisu from the Beta Worldlines would say otherwise."

Kurisu frowned at her words and asked her, "What do you mean?"

"Now, now, please calm down and let me explain!" Ruka then stood up and went to the nearby bookshelf. He then put the books out of the way to reveal an apparatus hidden behind the books earlier.

Holding the apparatus in his hands, he went back to the couch and placed it on the table before speaking, "This is a divergence meter. It shows the coordinates of this Worldline."

"0.571024? What does this mean?" Kurisu curiously asked.

"It is the exact Worldline coordinates of this world. Think of time like a river, then streams will separate from it if a change happen. That's exactly how to describe our current situation. We were from the Beta Worldline 1.130426 but due to someone sending a mail to the past he changed the past and we shifted worldlines." Ruka said while pointing at the nixie tubes of the divergence meter.

"You— So you knew this would happen?" Okabe said solemnly as he remembered his talk with Rukako yesterday.

"Yeah, I knew this would happen. But what I didn't expect is that you still retained your memories after the shift." (No shit Sherlock, I'm bullshiting I totally expected you to still have your memories.)

"Can you explain?" Kurisu asked her to explain.

"Well, based on my research yesterday. People forget or more precisely their memories of the previous worldline will be inaccessible to them after the shift and will be replaced with the new worldline's memories." Ruka said.

"Then how did you and him not lose your memories?" Kurisu asked.

"It is currently an inexplicable but—"

[[ Sir! The Rounders are here! ]]

Ruka stood up in shock and said loudly, "What?! Hey, Beta, can you not joke? I estimated they will be here next month or two!"

[[ Sir, the pinhole cameras captured them above, on the yard advancing to the house. ]]

Ruka scratched his head in frustration and said, "How did they find us?"

[[ It seems that our suppliers sold us out. ]]

"Shit! I knew this will happen sooner or later but I didn't expect those bastards to expose me this early. Activate Level 4 Security Code."

[[ Affirmative. Activating Level 4 Security System. ]]

"Is that an Artificial intelligence?" Kurisu asked him.

"Yes and also don't ask anymore questions for now. We need to leave this place." Ruka then stood up and walked to a particular wall where the entrance to his lab is supposed to be. "Open the labs, Beta."

[[ Yes, sir. ]]

The wall then parted and revealed an entrance, to Kurisu and Okabe's surprise.

Ruka looked at the two who were frozen in their place due to how fast things are progressing and said, "Hey, are you two just gonna stand there and wait to be killed? Follow me!"

Ruka then walked fast and entered the lab, the two followed him closely from behind. Okabe looked around in fascination at the beauty of the lab.

"This is so sci-fi! Where did you get so much money to build this place?" Kurisu asked as she too looked around the place.

"Well, Okabe-san, does the name Origin-chan ring any bell?" Ruka said as he busily operated the controls.

"Ah, that 3D anime girl with a 3D soul. Daru always watched her, how can I not know?" Okabe said.

Kurisu just looked at him and asked, "Who is that? Is she famous?"

"What do you mean? Her fans just rallied yesterday how can you—! No, wait. Origin-chan didn't exist here?" Okabe looked at Kurisu and asked her.

"You don't have to ask her. Origin-chan is not real in this worldline, or to be more precise she's still an idea here." Ruka explained.

"What do you mean?"

"I am Origin-chan. In the beta worldline, I debuted as her at the start of my money raising for making this lab. But here, I just wrote novels and manga instead of debuting as Origin-chan to raise money."

"Y-You're Origin-chan?!" Okabe pointed at him with visible horror on his face. "But thinking about it now it's possible indeed."

[[ Sorry to interrupt your conversation sir. It seems that the Rounders now knows you're oddly not in the house and are now sweeping through the whole house searching the place. ]]

"Tsk! Do they not have any respect for my privacy? What if they see my stash? It will not be my fault at that time then." Ruka said in frustration as he opened another hidden door beside them.

"Who are those people? Are the Rounders part of the organization that controls the world from the shadows?" Okabe said solemnly. He and Kurisu followed behind Ruka as they went through the hidden passage that immediately closed after they passed.

"Even though I want to say you're delusional Okabe-san, you are not wrong this time." Ruka said as they walked up.

"You mean that they really are? I was right from the start, I , Mad scientist Hououin Kyouma knew it from the beginning!" Okabe frowned at his words.

Meanwhile, Kurisu had other opinions, "How do you know it? Can you prove that this whole thing you were saying since earlier wasn't a lie? I don't know if you're saying the truth."

What the heck? Does it hurt you to not be curious for once? Whatever, I'll just bullshit my way through this.

"You may not believe me, Kurisu. But this is not my first time. How else would I know what would happen and how else would I know about the truth? I'm from the future."

"What? Did you come here with the time machine?" Okabe asked him in surprise.

"No. What I did is time leap, it was the only option for me to use that will not cause any time paradox. That's why I also moved worldlines with you and the others." I said with a straight face. I'm an author, of course I'm a good story maker.

"I am from the Year 2036, which is 26 years from now. I finished the time leap machine that you and Kurisu made and made it so I can go back up to 30 years instead of just 1 week limitation."

Kurisu looked at me with shock and said, "I made a time leap machine?"

"Yes, you based it off the Phone Microwave and used the Visual Rebuilding Tech from your Viktor Chondria University to make it possible."

Ahhh... fuck. I really am such a good liar. If ever we meet Suzuha, I'll just say the truth. Though not everything I said was a lie.

We arrived in front of a ladder leading up to an exit sealed by a hatch.

"We're here. Let's climb up now." I immediately climbed up without waiting for the two. Opening the hatch and looking outside, we were now in an alley beside May Queen Nyan Nyan.

Why did I make the emergency exit to leave here? Well, it's near the maid cafe of my favorite maid Fayris-chan. What else would be the reason.

"Let's continue our discussion inside May Queen."
