He wanted this with Jason always. Whatever the next project might be. Even if they weren’t working together, they could come home to each other; they could hold each other. Publicity obligations and paparazzi cameras paled in comparison to the rainbows of that thought.
He wanted Will and Stephen to have those rainbows too. He pictured the ending—not the book’s, but his own. Happier.
How can I get there, he thought. How can I give them that?
He’d started on it once before. He hadn’t sorted it all out. But he could. He could feel the shape of the thought. A rescue…a return…
