Cupcakes

Next day, Kyra packed few cupcakes on the way for Danna, Alicia and Greg. She always loved the cupcakes made by her Mom. Sitting on the kitchen island while her mother made the batter and helping her was such a cozy feeling for her. But suddenly, her sweet Mom was gone. And she didn't knew how. Strange.

Anyways, when she arrived in cafeteria after classes, she noticed Danna waving her hand from the far west corner to catch attention. But if it would have been only at waving hands, it was ok but of course it was Danna and it's to be expected to do things that can make a normal person embarrassed. She literally in the attempt to catch attention, she shouted at the top of her lungs. If wasn't enough, she even shouted this—

"C'MON GIRL, WE ARE HERE. WE EVEN SAVED A SEAT FOR YOU. THESE BI****S ARE NOT ALLOWED HERE."

And that's so much to not catching everyone's attention in cafeteria. Of course it is.

Kyra swiftly made her legs go faster and tried avoiding any eye contact with the students her friend just called 'bi****s' to.

She arrived at the table and was greeted with scene of Alicia trying to pull Danna's hand down, making a failed attempt to make her friend calm down from whatever high she was on from.

"What happened to her today?" Kyra asked looking at the scene in unfolding front of her. She wasn't surprised to see Danna like that. She knew that Danna was an overly cheerful girl, got no filters what so ever and HAD an urge to go things extravagant. But this seemed like over the top.

"Oh, it's nothing. We are glad to have a new friend among us." Danna gave a side hug to Kyra before telling Greg to bring their foods.

Kyra eyed her friend suspiciously. Of course something was wrong. She then tried a telepathy with Alicia—which, thank God she caught up on—and asked what happened. And there came out just one word that made sense to all things. Breakup.

Of course Danna didn't want to talk about it, so Kyra didn't force anything out from her but decided she wanted to talk to her. She brought out the sweet goodies on the table and everyone appreciated and praised her baked goodies, especially Danna who had tears in her eyes. She hugged Kyra tightly; that for a moment felt like the arms were crushing her before she let go.

They talked and laughed about almost everything. By the end of the half an hour long break, they had tears in their eyes by laughing so hard. Kyra knew she missed it very much. The social touch, mingling with friends, talking about everything and nothing or laughing at almost anything that was remotely funny. It gave her good vibes about the life. At home she missed those. She didn't knew why, but then 5 years ago, everything changed.

After all the said goodbyes and hugs, everyone went to their classes. Kyra entered her Astronomy class and took a nearby seat at the right side corner. She bend down to get her notebooks and pens when she felt someone sitting beside her. She lifted her gaze to the person beside her and just one look made her heart beat faster. It was Xavier.

"You here? Are you in this class?" Kyra was actually surprised as her gaze never left Xavier. He was not in this class last time but he is now? Why didn't he come into class when he helped her yesterday? He just went away after he helped her.

Xavier looked over at the only girl that made his heart beat like crazy in his chest. He felt like a love stuck puppy looking for it's favorite master and oh my it made him feel like a horny teenager. He had to get a grip on himself but as his gaze fell on her beautiful face, smooth dark hair and shining hazel orbs, he lost his words. If this didn't sound so cheesy, he could've squealed right here. Yeah, right!

"Uh...yeah. Actually I had some important work yesterday so had to leave soon. But today I'm here." Xavier explained.

Whatever the reason was, Kyra was happy she didn't have to spend the astronomy alone but one more problem nagged her. Well as we can see, firstly, he was the reason Kyra was distracted the whole class yesterday and she wanted to learn something and concentrate on her studies. But him sitting beside her was like a block of distraction in whole another level. She just prayed that she can atleast pass this subject without a hitch if she had to sit beside him for the whole semester.

"It's ok. It's good to have someone I know in this class to get myself away from being bored anyway." Kyra knew this very well that astronomy for her will be anything but boring.

"Did you get the cupcakes? Did you like it?" Kyra asked him as she remembered last night.

"Cupcakes? What cupcakes? I didn't get any." Xavier was confused and by staring at his face, Kyra was sure he wasn't joking. But she did delivered the cupcakes yesterday. It's not like she dreamt or imagined the whole ordeal. That would be hell of an embarrassing moment. And also if she did, there was some serious problem with her brain and she needs to get checked immediately.

"Yeah, last night I delivered a few cupcakes at your apartment as a new neighbor greetings. And uh...there was this shirtless guy...uh...yeah, Tyler! He was the one who opened the door. He said you were still at your part time job and will not be back before an hour." Of course Kyra said 'as new neighbor greetings'. She couldn't exactly say she was so madly happy that she made a room full of cupcakes on a whim.

"You handed your cupcakes to Tyler?" Xavier asked blandly, and the tone of his voice told her she shouldn't have done that. So, instead of saying anything she just nodded her head and he let out a mouthful breath that he seemed to hold in.

"Even though Tyler seems like a smart guy, he us not so smart to begin with. And when it comes to sweet things like cupcakes and cookies, you should never expect him to share them. He is the biggest sweet tooth I've ever seen." Xavier explained. His grey eyes held a hint of amusement as he explained.

Kyra's eyes widened at the revelation and suddenly they both started laughing.

Just like that, what they both didn't noticed was the whole class was looking at them. And mostly they were surprised at the scene unfolding in front of their eyes. They never thought they would see a day, when The Xavier would laugh with a girl beside him while having a normal friendly conversation her. They were cherishing the rare sight.
