At the S.H.I.E.L.D. Headquarters...
After barely managing to deceive the Security Council, Fury was urgently summoned by Deputy Director Hill to the command room.
The battle between the two titans in New York had already become the headline on every major global news site, originating from the United States.
Ever since the Foundation emerged, S.H.I.E.L.D. had increasingly found itself sidelined, especially when it came to supernatural events. Ironically, the reason S.H.I.E.L.D. reacted at all this time was due to one of their agents slacking off during work and accidentally stumbling upon a live broadcast of the two monsters fighting.
Had it not been for that, S.H.I.E.L.D. might have been even slower to realize there was a battle raging between two giants on the streets of New York.
"What about the Foundation? Aren't they supposed to be the ones who deal with anomalies?" Fury grumbled, staring at the screen showing the devastation caused by the two monsters.
Just like General Ross, Fury's first instinct was to push the responsibility onto the Foundation.
But for now, the Foundation had shown no signs of making a move.
Hill shook her head as well. "It's not like them. Normally, they would be all over something like this."
May, who had just returned to headquarters, added seriously, "The Foundation's protocol is to study anomalies first. They're likely still investigating these two creatures."
May had only just arrived to transfer personnel, as more S.H.I.E.L.D. agents were being integrated into the Foundation's operations. She happened to be pulled into the command room due to the timing of the battle.
"So, they're still researching? Meanwhile, they're just going to ignore the fact that these two green monsters are tearing through the streets of New York?" Fury was visibly irritated, completely forgetting how poorly S.H.I.E.L.D. had handled supernatural matters in the past.
May opened her mouth but decided against saying anything. She really wanted to tell Fury that the Foundation's method was, in fact, the most professional approach. But out of respect for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s reputation and Fury's ego, she chose to remain silent.
At this point, the Hulk had grown to match Abomination in size. His strength was beginning to overwhelm his opponent.
Abomination, for his part, was growing frustrated. He couldn't accept the fact that despite becoming such a monstrous creature, despite gaining such immense power, he was still losing to the Hulk.
Unwilling to accept his weakness, Abomination turned to his surroundings, using nearby objects as weapons. He grabbed a streetlamp and, in a dirty trick, thrust it into Hulk's eye.
Hulk roared in pain as green blood streamed from his wound. But the injury only seemed to enrage him further. His body swelled with newfound fury, growing even larger.
With a thunderous blow, Hulk slapped Abomination away, sending him flying over twenty meters. Pulling the streetlamp out of his eye, the Hulk, now down to one eye, glared menacingly at his opponent.
All he felt now was anger—an overwhelming, unquenchable rage.
Dazed and barely able to recover, Abomination struggled to stand up. That last blow had done serious damage.
Roaring defiantly, Abomination charged once again, throwing himself at the Hulk with reckless abandon.
But Hulk, showing a hint of a malicious smirk, casually threw a punch that landed squarely on Abomination's face. His skull cracked under the force, yellow blood splattering everywhere as Abomination crumpled to the ground, questioning his existence.
Just as the fight seemed to be reaching its conclusion, the ground began to tremble slightly.
A small mound began to rise from the street. As the cracks grew wider and the mound swelled higher, the Hulk stopped his pursuit, sensing danger. His remaining eye focused warily on the rising earth.
Suddenly, with a deafening crash, a grotesque, hideous giant lizard burst out from the ground.
Roaring as it emerged, the beast—Grandfather 682—let out a piercing howl, its eyes glowing red as it locked onto the Hulk.
Known as the "Immortal Reptile," SCP-682 was highly intelligent and harbored a deep-seated hatred for life itself. The stronger a life force was, the more SCP-682 despised it, and the more it sought to destroy it.
Hulk, being an immensely powerful life form, immediately caught SCP-682's attention.
"Finally… it's here. The Immortal Reptile—Grandfather 682," Ethan thought with wild excitement as he gazed at the creature in the distance.
This was the key to his future. His future pet and his path to immortality!
By taming this creature, Ethan would gain the power to stand on equal footing with any supreme being.
SCP-682's defining characteristic was its ability to evolve in response to any threat or environment. No matter the attack, it could adapt and evolve to counter it. It could alter its size, shape, and form to suit its needs—growing more eyes, limbs, hearts, claws, or even developing new organs like spikes, blades, or wings. It could even unleash atomic breath, dimensional strikes, or warp space.
Its ultimate survival trait wasn't just its regeneration but its ability to alter its very properties, sometimes shifting to an inorganic state to avoid lethal attacks.
Simply put, SCP-682 was a terrifying, near-immortal being capable of evolving to resist any form of attack. In another universe, they called such a creature Doomsday. But SCP-682 was even more versatile.
Watching Ethan's fervent gaze, Natasha raised an eyebrow. "So, this is what you were waiting for? You let the other monster rampage just to lure this one out? I don't see how this lizard could be a match for the Hulk. It's just a big reptile."
Ethan smiled, his eyes fixed on the Immortal Reptile with a look of obsession.
"You don't understand the terror of SCP-682. Just watch. The Immortal Reptile will shake the world, waking humanity from its delusions of strength. It will show them how small and powerless they truly are."
The Immortal Reptile… Today, it would shake the world. Perhaps even the universe… if anyone was watching.
Ethan looked up toward the sky. "Are you watching, Odin?" he whispered to himself. "This is the surprise I have for you. The Ragnarok of Asgard!"
