Mercenary

Kukuchiba scratched the back of his head in an awkward, self-conscious manner and let out a sheepish chuckle.

"I'm just at a loss. The price has remained unchanged for years on end. It's already steep, and if I were to raise it further, the customers would surely raise a ruckus," he admitted with a rueful grin.

Laladoya rolled her eyes heavenward and retorted with a snort, "Hmph! You truly lack the acumen for business. You'll be stuck with this dilapidated tavern of yours for the rest of your days. Very well, very well. Summon your men to unload the goods. I've still a long and arduous journey ahead. This is all the stock I have for now, but I'll see what I can do to bring you more on my next trip."

"Fine…"

Kukuchiba's disappointment was palpable as he slouched his shoulders and trudged back into the tavern. A few moments later, he emerged once more, shouting at the top of his lungs, "Hurry it up, you lumbering oafs! Why are you moving at a snail's pace?"
