CHAPTER 13

"I-S-L-A-N-D-N-O-W" Ben's mouth saying. I arc my brows and went to where Ben is standing.

"What were you saying?" Due the loud noises of the helicopter, which I finally noticed, I raised my voice like I never did before.

Looking around, maids were busy carrying hand bags from the mansion to the vehicle. Meanwhile, Ben motioned for the pilot to stop the engine, which he gladly did. The routers of the helicopter slowed, so as the deafening noise it has.

"Sir Ledesma wanted for you to go to the island now ma'am. As what the report had stated, the culprit got away. The team didn't able to find out the objective of the culprit and most importantly, their identity. The only lead we have as of the moment, is the plate number and the two silhouettes inside the car. With this, Sir Ledesma decided to bring you to the island Pronto. " Ben stated.

" That's outrageous! I can't go to the island alone! Besides, it'll be a week from now before the day we'll travel right? Why all of the sudden? " Ben open his mouth to retaliate but I beat him to it. Continuing, I said," Wouldn't it be better for me to be here in his secured mansion knowing how grave the situation will be? I can't leave my father alone. " I said firmly, leaving no room for argument.

Seeing my point, I saw Ben scratch the back of his neck and gulped. I crossed my arms and arc my brows, challenging him to say something.

" Uh, I guess it'll be before you to talk to Mr. Ledesma yourself ma'am. His strict instruction is to bring you to the island within this day. We... are just doing our jobs." A crack smile escape from Ben's lips. Handing his phone, I thought of the things I wanted to say to the man behind this act. John Ledesma.

It took three rings for the other line to pick up the call. The faint sound of papers that were flipped stop and a baritone voice engulfed my ears.

"Yes Ben?" John's voice came which, for a moment, stilled me. "Are the preparations ready for Makaria's departure?" With the question, everything came back to me.

"Ah yes. Now that you ask, yes everything is ready, from the bags down to the vehicle. Everything is set for ME to depart John. However, I do not see the reason for this trip to be rushed."

Silence ensued between the two of us. After sometime, John cleared his throat on the other line and say," Makaria? ". I didn't let him continue as I found the opportunity to lash out these deep thoughts of mine." Yes John. This is Makaria and I wanted to ask why do you want me to go to the island now? I am safe and sound anyway. It's not like I'll be any safer in the island compare here. Besides, I can't leave my father alone here John. It's only been a day since I got out from the hospital and now... I'll leave him alone? I can't... "

" I know Makaria, I know. Your father and I already talked about this. I ask his permission and he said yes, thinking it'll be safer for you to be in the island - "

" What do you mean, he knows what happened earlier? " I asked, totally caught off guard. Why would they say that thing to my father? They're putting another worries for him. He's old for God's sake! I caught Ben glancing my way who looked away the moment my eyes landed on him.

" I'm sorry Makaria, I know that you're worried for your father. I'll ensure his safety but just go along the plan for now. I'll explain things to you. I just need to take care of things here and maybe, I'll be joining you in the island as soon as possible. Ben and Carl will be going with you. The other guards will be station in the mansion for your dad's safety. "

" John! Hear me out! " I plead. Don't I have any say here?

I know that they all wanted is for me to be safe but I can't just let them decide things for me.

" I'm sorry Makaria. I need to go now. I'll ge back to you later. " The faint sound of a woman calling John for the meeting can be heard in the background until the call went dead.

Do I really have no choice at all? Or maybe I can take the reigns of my life; snatched it away from everyone else and drive my life to the journey that I really want?
