I shout this word in the English of Earth rather than the language I learned to speak on this planet.
While doing so I also did all kinds of random hand movements, one of which included the middle finger.
After completing whatever monstrosity that someone is supposed to call a form of magic I create a tiny flame on the tip of my finger. This was just like the first one I made when I discovered that I could use fire magic for the first time.
However, with the sudden shout of mine, it causes Luke to come barging out of our room to find out what was happening.
Unlike how long it took me to create the flame I put it out before the door fully opened thus not giving enough time for Luke to notice but still enough time for Ralph to understand.
"What the fuck was that?" Luke asks as he makes his way over towards us.
Ralph was stunned with his mouth agape still attempting to comprehend what he just witnessed leaving me to fend for myself.
"I got a splinter," I whine.
"You shouted loud enough to wake the whole town up because you got a SPLINTER?!" Luke says with an obviously annoyed expression.
"Sorry," I say sarcastically.
"Why you little-"
But by this point, Ralph snapped out of it and gave a menacing look towards Luke which shut him up quickly.
"Whatever, I'm going back to bed, you better not wake me up again!" Luke says cursing under his breath as he enters back into our room.
With a smile laced on my face, I turn back to look at my new teacher and say, "Now will you teach me?"
"How? Why? What! Howww?" Ralph stutters.
"I don't know. When I was on my way to Wingston when the bandits attacked us I got that feeling that your described and before I knew it I was burning one of them," I fictionalize by telling a fake story.
"But you're only five?!" He says stupefied.
"I can't explain it either, maybe a life and death situation caused me to become a mage earlier?" I say continuing my lie.
"There's no way… if this is true… you can't tell anyone about this," Ralph declares.
'He took the bait?!' I say to myself proudly.
"Why?" I ask pretending to be confused.
"If anyone besides me were to find out, the whole world would be after you," He says.
"Promise me you won't tell anyone else."
"Okay, I promise," I say manipulating him into thinking that he could manipulate me.
"So then does this mean you will teach me?" I ask with enthusiasm.
"Alright, I'll teach you," He says finally giving in. "But is too late now, go to bed and we will talk tomorrow."
"Great, good night!" I say agreeing.
"Night," He replies as he walks towards his bedroom while I enter my own.
Upon entering I am once again reminded of how annoying my dearest brother is.
He is snoring.
Feed up with how annoying the day has been I hop into my own bed and use wind magic to cover my ears before drifting off into a much-needed sleep.
In the morning I wake up nice and early after just getting a couple of hours of shut-eye.
Yet that was more than enough to revitalize my body for the next upcoming days.
Ending the wind magic that I used to block sounds I get up only to once again hear the terrible voice of Luke's snoring.
'I swear this better be worth it,' I mutter to myself as I leave our bedroom and enter the living room.
But just as I do something catches my attention from the corner of my eye.
Looking over I'm surprised to see that the reason for it was actually Madelyn.
"Noah? You're here? When did you get back?" She asks.
"Yesterday in the afternoon," I reply.
"Oh, it's good to see you back home safe and sound," She says.
However, the way in which she said that sounded as if she was… nervous?
"Yeah, there was no need to worry," I say as I raise my guard unaware of her intentions.
"Well, uh, you brought Luke back home so I just uh, wanted to thank you," She continues becoming even more nervous.
'What is this woman on?' I think confused.
"Yeah… that was part of the deal," I say now weirded out.
"I know!" She says quickly.
"It's just…"
"What?" I ask utterly bewildered.
Speaking so fast, that the only reason I was able to understand was because I could process information rapidly she said, "When Luke got taken away from me I didn't know what to do, but when you said you would bring him back to us, and you actually did I knew there was no way in which I could ever repay you. So I made a deal, one of the trinket tinkerers from the kingdom was selling a magic-infused robe. According to him a woman who is on her way to become a duel wind and earth master mage created this robe. Apparently, when wearing it if you stand still you will turn invisible."
Then with her finishing her last sentence, she drops a bag in front of me.
'Huh?' Is the only thing I could think.
"Because you aren't ten yet I already had the man imprint the robe with mana so the next person that puts it on will claim ownership over it," She explains.
"He said that you need to stand still for at least fifteen seconds for the earth magic to take effect and wrap around you. Then immediately after the wind magic will kick in and reflect your surroundings making you invisible. But even if someone can't see you you're still there," She concludes.
"Wow, thank you so much! This is really appreciated," I say truly and honestly for the first time since I've been on Madred.
"Please don't tell Ralph or Luke about this. I had some extra money saved up and this was the only way that I could think of for thanking you," She says.
"I won't," I say still unable to fully comprehend what just happened.
