Ch 14 - Bandits?

"SHIT WE ARE UNDER ATTACK!"

I had just left Ray and arrived in front of my carriage.

"Good day Noah, I will be your bodyguard and coachman for the duration of your travels. You can call me Zaul. If we follow the schedule we should arrive at the town in 16 hours. You will be escorted by 8 other warriors and 2 war mages. Ray seems to have pulled a lot of strings to make sure that you get there safely," the man named Zaul said giving a slight bow.

I gave him nothing more than a wave before hopping into my carriage.

'Ah, this will be perfect! I will be left alone for the first time in as long as I can remember. I will finally be able to finish the force field too.'

'During the past year I had managed to get over ninety-nine percent of it complete and all it needed was a final touch-up. Luckily I would be able to do that in the carriage while I waiting to visit my new home,' I said happily.

Five hours into the trip I had mastered it.

'YES! Now I actually have some defense against mages. Before I couldn't even use it because it wasn't complete. Yet now I can fully form it. I can't wait to test it out to see how much damage it can take before being destroyed,' I said proud that all those years spent were worth something.

'Now it's time for my experiment and if this works I will be able to raise in power a thousand times faster.'

First I created the wind bubble around me then I used a reflecting spell that I copied from Ray. I had to use the ancient language and do some hand gestures but it worked on my second attempt.

Ray was a wind mage and would often do simple spells that made life easier like clean around the apartment.

I used that spell so that I would be able to see outside the force field but to everyone else it would just show me and they wouldn't be able to notice the outline that the bubble created. That was the first part of the test and the most important.

'Now for the real fun to begin! If this works I might really be able to take over the world during this lifetime,' I say thinking of the many possibilities.

After the spell was complete, I allowed dark magic essence to pour out of my body. There was nothing to cast because dark magic is me and I am dark magic. Just by letting my body relax pure dark magic would be released from me as if it was a breath I just let out.

The darkness would be contained in the force field and none of the dread the comes along with it would seep out into the world.

"Ha!" I laughed out loud.

'It actually worked now I can learn magic so fast that it would make genius's look like trash,' I said excitedly.

What Noah had just done now allowed him to use three different elements at once to train! This would allow him to surpass anyone in terms of growth.

The wind force field had two ways of operating. First Noah could endlessly supply mana to the bubble to make it hold on longer. If it was damaged it would self-repair as long as Noah could spare the mana required.

The second way was to cast it once and then be done with it. After that, it would remain to protect Noah until it was broken. Even if Noah lost consciousness the bubble would stay. This of course made it extremely weaker compared to the first yet it could be used perfectly for Noah's experiment.

Once he cast the second type of force field and his dark magic spread out he was actually training both of them at once!

The force field would become stronger over time and more refined as the dark magic's destructive nature tried to escape.

Then the dark magic would also become stronger as it tried to break free. Due to Noah not needing to supply concentration or mana for dark magic to work, they collided with each other.

They would empower one other at no cost to Noah while he could sit back and if he really wanted, sleep, to become stronger.

However, instead of wasting time sleeping, he would practice one of his other elements.

The original two being dark and wind magic didn't require any mana. Thus, he could use his mana on a third ability to raise his comprehension in that as well.

So now Noah would be able to develop three different elements all at once.

Noah decided to choose his third element to be fire. In books and movies on Earth, fire would usually be the strongest.

Yet in Noah's case, it was extremely weak. Thinking that he just needed to keep practicing in order to pull out the full potential he chose to focus on it for the time being.

And that's what Noah did for the next two hours as wind, dark, and fire magic grew with power.

Then out of nowhere an explosion went off.

Present time

Only two warriors remained and they were about to die as they were surrounded and outnumbered.

Bandits!

Bandits would attack people for one of two reasons. The first being that they would be able to raid you and become rich. They would often target nobles and merchants to make a profit.

The second reason was that they were hired by someone to kill you.

Judging by the fact that Noah didn't have any money on him and was escorted by a somewhat strong team, the bandits were obviously hired to kill him.

But who would want to kill Noah? Noah hadn't done anything to anyone. He had been tortured and locked up for the first four years of his life.

Then the fifth year was spent studying. It was impossible for Noah to have enemies.

*BOOM*

Another explosion went off this time killing one of the two mages tasked with protecting Noah.

There were thirty original warrior bandits and five war mages.

As the fight went on nineteen warrior bandits remained. The eight warriors that were in Noah's group were all dead.

Of the five mages only one had died and four remained although two were heavily injured and would not make it without medical treatment.

While the two in Noah's group had also died.

Zaul was the only one left. He was surrounded on all sides. He figured that it was all over for him and Noah yet hoped that he could take a bunch of them with him before his death.

"Sigh."

*SPLASH*

Noah had sensed the whole battle outside. Once he saw that it was over he decided that it was his turn to have some fun.

He jumped out of the carriage and made an impact on the ground alerting everyone to his presence.

"You know I was in a really good mood this morning but now you've spoiled it," Noah's words echoed through everyone's ears. There was no trace of emotion. It was as if he was talking like he was walking on the street kicking a pebble and not facing danger on all sides.

"Noah, quickly get out of here! I'll hold them off for as long as I can!" Zaul said prepared to give up his life.

However contrary to everyone's expectations Noah began to walk closer and closer to Zaul.

"What are you doing boy? I said to run away while you still ca-"

*SPLAT*

"Whaaa? Why..."

*PLOOP*

Zaul's dead body dropped to the ground!

Noah had just punched his hand through Zaul's chest and ripped out his heart.

"You were annoying," Noah said plainly tossing the heart behind him.

"Now, what fun have I been gifted?" Noah asked as a devilish smile crept onto his face.

"HA! That was quite the show boy. I would have loved to take you as an apprentice but it's too bad that I was hired to kill you," a man called out as he made his way to the front to face Noah.

"Who wants me dead?" I asked confused as to how someone could have a grudge against me.

"I DO!" Another person shouted out as he pushed his way forward through the sea of men.

He was an ordinary-looking man that stood out like a sore thumb. He wasn't muscular at all and looked like he could be crushed by any one of the bandits.

"It was all your fault! My mother had been loyal to Christopher all her life. Yet as soon as you were born and cried when she came near you, she was proven guilty of psychological abuse and was fired. It's all because you cried and the nurses made up a bull shit story that my mother's life was ruined. Now I will have my revenge! I've hired these bandits to kill you." The man said.

"Hmm... Ah, I remember now! Your mother's name was Maria. The psychotic nurse lady who tried to kill me by stabbing me with wind magic," I replied remembering the memory.

"Yeah, sorry about that. Turns out she wasn't trying to kill me but actually checking to see if I felt pain since I was born prematurely," I said with a shrug not feeling bad in the least.

I remember all the memories I had as a kid and once I learned the language of this world I was able to think back and learn what everyone had said when I was still a baby. That's how I knew Maria was actually innocent and just trying to make sure that I was healthy.

"YOU BITCH! KILL HIM NOW!" The son of Maria shouted at the bandits.

"Sorry boy but orders are orders it's your unlucky day," the man in front said.

"Great! I've been yearning to test my new spell I just didn't think it would be this soon," I said genuinely happy.

*BOOOOOOOOOM*

Noah removed the force field around him and released his dark magic to roam freely.

Twelve of the men around him including the bandit that just apologized instantly turned to dust just being in Noah's presence.

Once all the previously built-up dark magic that had accumulated over the past two hours was spread out. Noah reactivated the force field and conjured a darkness fumed ball in each hand.

"This is going to be so much fun!" Noah said as he quite literally poured down hell on the bandits.

"RUN!"

"HE'S A MONSTER!"

"THE DEVIL!"

"MOMMY!" I high pitch voice could be heard obviously being from the son of Maria.

"AHHHHHH!"

"HELP M-"

The battle took a complete one-eighty and not even a minute later all Noah's enemies were no more than dust.

'Shit... that was too fast. I should have let some run before hunting them down. That was no fun at all they didn't even fight back...'

'Fuck! I forgot to test the force field. That was the whole point of attacking them. But I got too caught up in seeing their bodies turn into nothingness that it completely left my mind,' I said annoyed at myself as I was surrounded by death.

"Thanks for the entertainment guys!" I said before jumping up on the carriage and urging the horse forward towards the town.

'This has already been such a fun adventure I hope it gets even better!' I say as I reset the bubble and once again release my dark magic while practicing with fire.
