2 Chapter 2: The Ancients

An unknown amount of time later, Harry slowly opened his eyes once again, releasing a groan as his head hurt. Slowly, he stood up from his position on the floor, steadying himself while holding his throbbing head.

To simply describe the situation inside his mind right now, it was full. He needed time to process. But he knew exactly what had happened to him just now.

The three Hallows had been all part of one device, and most impressively, that device was purely based on technology. A form of technology that was able to harness the power of what Harry had always called magic, a form of energy ever-present in the universe.

These people were able to harness the power of that energy with their technology to create many powerful devices, like the Potentia, a very potent energy source producing vast amounts of power, several times more than the global production of Earth itself.

Who would have known that modern science had already discovered magic? Until now, Harry wasn't able to make the connection, but now he had a vast amount of scientific knowledge in his head, far beyond any Muggle science. And with the help of that new understanding, he could make the connection.

Magic was nothing else but zero-point energy. The lowest possible energy that a quantum mechanical system may have A form of energy that was all-present and detectable, but Muggle science was still thousands of years away from even beginning to use it.

On the other hand, wizards were born with the natural ability to harness and manipulate zero-point energy. And the race of the creators of the three Deathly Hallows played a big part in that ability.

That race had many names: Alterans, Lanteans, or Gate Builders, but Antiquitas was the most fitting term, which roughly translates into the Ancients. Their civilization was old, and Harry meant old. Their civilization had existed for hundreds of millions of years. And most importantly, they were the previous incarnation of the human race.

The Ancients had lived on Earth, which they called Terra, before the human race existed, but because of a devastating plague, they had to flee the planet and wipe out all life, including the plague. Not only on Earth but in the whole galaxy. But before they completely left towards the Pegasus Galaxy, their new home, they reseeded life in the Milky Way Galaxy, or Avalon, as they called it.

Through their reseeding, they created the second incarnation of their race, the humans. A race with even more genetic potential than their own, but humans were still hundreds of millions of years behind them in their evolution.

Once the Ancients returned to Earth ten thousand years ago because of a formidable foe in the Pegasus Galaxy that they deemed too much trouble to fight, since they had their path to evolution already determined, This path was called ascension; they separated from their physical body to live eternally as pure energy in a superior plane with a greater amount of knowledge and power.

The remaining ancients who didn't ascend mingled with the human population in the hunter-gatherer stage and unwittingly created another race, the wizards. They were Harry's own ancestors.

Wizards had the superior genetic potential of the human race, combined with the advanced evolution of the Ancients, their genetic markers that allowed them to use their technology, and most importantly, their semi-ascended abilities that allowed them to manipulate zero-point energy.

So why weren't wizards ten thousand years later a super-advanced space-faring race? Even though they had the mental capacity, wizards fell into a trap; they had the ability to manipulate reality with a wave of their hand and get whatever they needed. This caused Wizardkind to have no struggles, unlike their human counterparts, who steadily improved their lives with science. Wizards remained stagnant, as they didn't need to learn more about the principles of the universe to improve their lives.

Luckily for Harry, he was a wizard—one of the more advanced ones—or he would be in serious trouble right now. The hollows combined to form a device called the Repository of Knowledge.

These repositories were massive libraries holding the knowledge of the Ancients and their civilization in order to pass on their legacy. From scientific knowledge to their history, geography, culture, and even art, Hundreds of millions of years of collected knowledge

Such a massive amount of information would be a death sentence to a not sufficiently developed mind. But Harry was different; he wasn't just a human. He was from a race that had traits of both the ancients and humans. To be precise, he was one of the most developed humanoids on this planet right now and could survive the massive influx of knowledge from the repository, although it would take some time for him to completely adapt.

And this particular repository wasn't an ordinary one left behind by the Ancients shortly before their Ascension. This one was created by an ancient that had descended after he had ascended for thousands of years because he recognized a threat to all life in the galaxy.

The Ancients, when they were still known as Alterans, had split up into two groups with vastly different ideologies. Harry was a descendant of the group devoted to science, which would later be known as the Lanteans or Ancients. Meanwhile, the other group was devoted to religion; they were called the Ori.

Both groups found their way towards Ascension somehow. While the Ancients maintained a strict policy of non-interference with the lower planes, the Ori realized that the worship of mortals empowered ascended beings and established themselves as gods.

These Ori were very hateful of the Ancients and would never let them leave unharmed. They were the ones who had sent the plague to wipe out the Ancients millions of years ago, and even as they ascended, they remained the same. They were of the belief that all life should worship them as gods.

Moros, an ascended ancient and member of the High Council of Atlantis, realized while ascended that the Ori were a threat too great to ignore. He descended himself while retaining all his ascended knowledge and granting himself many near-ascension abilities.

He would become known as Myrddin, or in today's times, Merlin, and began to devise multiple countermeasures against the Ori. Among them was this particular repository of knowledge, not only containing the collected knowledge of the Ancients before their ascension but also some of the knowledge from after their ascension. He had split it into the three hollows and passed it onto the wizards, who were the most likely people to be able to use the knowledge inside of them. The story of the Three Brothers and Death was a legend that must have been formed over generations as the Hollows traveled through the Wizarding World.

Of course, the amount of post-Ascension knowledge was limited since a mortal mind wouldn't be enough to permanently contain that vast amount of information. For that, one had to at least reach a semi-ascended stage, like Merlin did. A state between being mortal and ascending at the same time.

Harry now possessed the knowledge that his ancestors, the Ancients, had left behind for their descendants, and he knew he would have a headache for the next few days. At least until his mind had adapted enough to the massive influx of information. Even with a brain developed enough and the natural ability to control zero-point energy that was aiding him in his adaptation, this would take a toll on him.

Looking at the repository of knowledge now resting on the table, all lights having left the window, he knew it was useless now. The Hollows would never work again, as they fulfilled their task.

The Invisibility Cloak passed down in his family had been the body of the device, containing all the supportive mechanics necessary for it to function, while the Elder Wand was a specialized version of a potentia, the power source of the device containing zero-point energy, which had the fortunate side effect of being able to act as a powerful wand, enhancing any abilities that wizards called magic.

But the most important piece had been the Resurrection Stone; it was a masterpiece of technology, a highly advanced data crystal not only containing all the knowledge of the Ancients but also collecting the knowledge of the wizards living during its existence, preserving what they had known during their lifetime.

It had enough power by itself to grant access to that knowledge by conjuring a memory of the deceased person with the ability to manipulate zero-point energy and talk with them. Of course, the energy was limited; that's why the time they could remain was limited, and they always felt uncomfortable in the living world.

Now all of them were useless, as the Hollows had fulfilled their purpose and no longer held any power or functionality. To contain and pass on such massive amounts of information to a person was a very complicated task. And these repositories only worked once.

With a wave of his hand, Harry transfigured the dead repository into a pile of dust before vanishing the remains into energy. Even magic followed the laws of conservation of energy and mass.

He closed the door of the Black Library and headed towards the master bedroom of the Black Manor, where he dropped onto his bed and fell asleep while thinking that he had to keep his new knowledge a Secret for now.
