Star Wars VRMMO

First and foremost: Yes. I drew the cover myself in Microsoft Paint. It is a masterpiece. You're welcome. This is my second work. I thought I'd give a shot at one of those game novels. I've always had a dream of there being a video game where it was kinda like a combination of an MMO and GTA but with Star Wars themes. You'd be able to travel the whole galaxy and have progression that relates to the story. I think it'd be quite interesting. Essentially, I am going to be creating a universe so this is going to be a really fun experience for me. There is gonna be no bullshit with reincarnation. Just pure exploration and luck. I might experiment with different POVs throughout the work but who knows. Lastly, sorry if I make mistakes with the math. I am going to try and keep it as simple as possible. Here is a preview: The year is 2086. The VRMMO market has been taking off in the last 20 years. Each title is more advanced than the previous. Finally, an unknown entrepreneur is creating a game that introduces an AI that fully manages the game independently. This unknown investor has partnered with Disney to create this game within the story of Star Wars. Tyler Sandberg is a 17 year old boy living in New York, USA. He lost his father in a space exploration accident and he has been living with his mother since that happened. Unfortunately, the two have been struggling financially ever since his father passed so they live a modest lifestyle. Since his father was an astronaut, he was always super into sci-fi content. Star Wars was his favorite. After finding out that there was a mysterious VRMMO Star Wars game coming out, he swore that he would make it big in the game and get him and his mom the lifestyle they deserve. DISCLAIMER: All characters, companies, and events in this novel --even those based on real world entities-- are entirely fictional. All representations are made up ... poorly. This novel contains coarse language and due to its content it should not be read by anyone.

The Experimentals

(I'm back, hopefully. Will be back to the old release schedule of a chapter for this book every other day. It alternates with my Fantasy novel. Not too many people are reading it but you should definitely check it out if you haven't! I'm having a lot of fun with it. Only difference is that the chapters will probably be released pretty late in the evening. I'll be working from 8 to 4. Also, the new J. Cole album is sick as fuck. Highly recommend it.)

A soft midnight blue light illuminated the horizon, bleeding into the sky like food-dye in water. As the light intensified, it shifted through the spectrum, displaying a pallet of colors. The warm glow spread across the remote grassy fields, no sign of modern civilization in sight.

On this field, silhouettes of ruins were lit up from the back as the sun ascended from beneath the horizon. Within them, shadows moved about, seemingly in a hurry to prepare for something.

Suddenly, a muffled boom raced across the landscape, causing everyone to stop and look to the skies. A cruiser had just dropped out of hyperspace in the upper atmosphere. Aside from this being dangerous, there were very few people that had the authority to do this in the entire galaxy. It just so turns out that one of those people is who they were preparing for.

A lone starfighter emerged from the ventral hangar bay and sped towards the surface. As it came closer, the purple hue of its hull became visible. The Eta-2 Actis Class starfighter then landed in the center of the ruins.

Out of the cockpit popped Tyler wearing a cowboy hat for god only knows what reason. "Howdy." He tipped his hat.

Napoli rolled his eyes as he quickdrew his blaster and shot the hat off of Tyler's head. "Get that shit off. You look like an idiot."

Tyler shrugged and hopped off of his starfighter and walked over the Napoli, dapping him up. "It's been a minute. How you been?"

Napoli chuckled. "I've been living a nerd's dream. How could I be anything but great?"

Tyler nodded. "If I wasn't so busy, I would have handled this myself but I'm glad you're enjoying yourself."

Napoli smirked. "I think you'll be satisfied with the results."

Tyler sighed. "I would expect nothing less from my best friend. Let's see what we've got."

Napoli turned around. "DEMO TEAM, FORM UP!"

As Tyler heard this, he raised his brow in slight surprise. They had a whole team prepared for a demonstration. His expectations had just shot up tenfold.

Napoli held his hands behind his back and started pacing in front of the line of guild members. Each of the players within the experimental program were core members of Limitless. This essentially entailed that everything except their lives would be forfeit if they were to disclose any guild secrets such as Gul'dan's Citadel and its capabilities.

He then smiled and turned to Tyler. "So some background before I have them introduce themselves. All of the classes introduced via Gul'dan's Citadel's Training Hall are as difficult, if not more so, than the force sensitive class." Once he finished speaking, he turned and gestured to the leftmost person in the line."

The woman bowed. "Gonzalez, captain of the Mage Corps."

Tyler froze upon hearing that. "There are more classes than just warlock?"

Napoli smirked. "A pleasant surprise, eh?"

Tyler shook his head. "That can't be right. When we secured the citadel, we were only informed about the warlock class."

Napoli chuckled. "We were all surprised too. That was until we discovered something else. The classes have different specs. For example, Gonzalez is a frost mage. Other mage specs include arcane and fire."

Tyler looked like a kid in a candy shop hearing this. He looked straight at Gonzalez. "Hit me with a spell. I want to feel the damage for myself."

A bead of sweat rolled down her face. "Guild Leader, are you sure about this? My strongest spell rivals the destructive power of a turbo laser."

Tyler's eyes widened. "Well I'm sure that not all of your spells are like that. Hit me with something that you'd use on an enemy combatant."

Gonzalez gulped nervously as she raised her staff. Suddenly, Tyler felt the force around her start to flow into and through her body with great strength. Her robes began to flutter within the strange field as a shard of ice materialized above the end of her staff. "Sir, this is a frostbolt. Are you ready?"

Tyler nodded as he pulled out a lightsaber, igniting it as he brandished it with a spin. He gripped it with two hands, expecting quite the impact despite frostbolt being a low tier spell.

The force flared around the shard of ice as a gentle but cold light emanated from it. Then, it was launched towards the Jedi Master at a blistering speed.

Tyler felt sweat begin to coat his hands as the shard of ice presented a frightening amount of power. In an attempt to deflect it, he swung down with his lightsaber. The purple blade easily sliced through the shard of ice, which was not the intended effect. It split into chunks that resembled buckshot from a shotgun.

Fortunately, most of the chunks missed. Unfortunately, it was only most and not all. One of the shards struck Tyler's shoulder, slicing it open like a hot knife through butter. His shoulder bone was briefly visible before blood began flowing out like a steady stream.

Tyler immediately dropped his lightsaber, deactivating before it hit the floor. He then clutched his shoulder, grimacing in pain. "FUCK THAT HURTS!"

Napoli nearly choked. "Well, we can get that fixed right up with our next demo." He laughed nervously as he scratched the back of his head.

A man then walked forward. He was wearing white robes that contrasted greatly with the dark blue robes of the mage. He bowed. "Giorno, captain of the Priest Corps."

Napoli nodded, signaling for the demonstration to begin. "Giorno is a holy priest, which is essentially a pure healing class." As he said this, a gentle white light covered Giorno's hands as the force pulsed around him gently. "He can cast both AoE and individual healing spells due to his spec. The other specs are shadow and discipline."

The white glow extended into a beam of light that struck Tyler, surrounding him in a warm, glowing aura. Tyler removed his hand from his shoulder and the wound healed at a visible rate. "Holy shit… ha, unintentional pun. But seriously, that was amazing!"

Napoli nodded. "Now that you are healed, we can move-"

Tyler cut him off, waving his hand. "I'd like to try something before we continue. Gonzalez, please cast another frostbolt at me."

Gonzalez gave him a strange look. "Sir, are you sure?"

Tyler nodded as he picked his lightsaber up off the ground and clipped it to his belt. "I'm ready when you are."

Gonzalez sighed as she raised her staff, preparing another frostbolt. Just like last time, the force began flowing around her with great strength, congregating around her and moving through her body. As soon as the shard of ice was formed, she launched it straight towards her guild leader.

As the shard flew through the air, Tyler suddenly raised his arm, palm facing out. He reached out in the force and felt the mass of force energy approaching him in the form of the frostbolt.

He smirked. "Bingo." He clamped down on it using his extensive mastery of the force and froze the shard of ice in its trajectory.

Upon seeing this, everyone was silent. No one could believe that the force could be used like this.

Napoli furiously threw his datapad on the floor. "HOW THE FUCK DID YOU DO THAT?"

Tyler shrugged. "I'm not the only Master Jedi player for nothing. I guess I'm just built different." He smirked and winked as he finished his statement.
