Fives successfully not dies

"Fives?" General Skywalker's voice echoed around the empty warehouse, "Fives, we're here. Come on out. We just want to talk."

Fives moved unsteadily from where he had been hiding near the back more towards where he thought Skywalker's voice originated from, as well as the controls for a ray shield generator that was the reason Fives had chosen this particular warehouse for the meeting. Couldn't hurt to be too careful.

"General Skywalker," he called back as he moved, "Thank you. Thank you for trusting me. You've come without troops?"

"We have."

"Put down your weapons, then."

"I don't think so Fives," Fives peered around a crate and spotted the familiar blue of the general's lightsaber.

"Please, sir," he called out desperately, "Please. I'm unarmed."

He let out a small sigh of relief when he heard the sound of a lightsaber deactivating.

"All right," Rex said, "I'm putting my pistols down."

"What are we here for Fives?" General Skywalker asked.

"I need your help."

"I know you do," Skywalker's voice sounded like he was trying to calm a scared tooka, "We know you're not well. It's been rough for you these last couple days."

"I'm not crazy!" Fives yelled, knowing that he probably sounded like he was crazy, "Please! Please, just hear what I have to say."

He knew his breath was becoming erratic, and his vision was only getting worse, but Fives had bigger things to worry about right now. General Skywalker had turned toward his hiding place, and was starting to advance.

"We're here to help you, Fives, just come with us. Let us take you back to the temple"

Yeah, Fives thought, and back to the chancellor.

Fives keyed in the code for the shield generator.

"No!" General Skywalker screamed, banging a fist against the ray shield.

"I just need you to listen to me," Fives moved out from his hiding place, "Please."

"I'm not sure we have any other choice," Skywalker's tone was icy.

"I was framed because I know the truth. The truth about a plot, a massive deception."

"By who?" Rex asked.

"Well, there's a sinister plot in the works against the Jedi! I have proof of it! I can prove that everything I know is true beyond a shadow of a doubt!"

"Show me the evidence," Skywalker demanded.

"The evidence is in here," Fives tapped his left temple, "It's in here. It's in all of us. Every clone!"

"What is it?" Rex asked.

"Organic chips built into our genetic code," Fives leaned against a nearby crate, "to make us do whatever someone wants. Even kill the Jedi! It's all in here!"

General Skywalker glanced skeptically in Rex's direction, "Let's just get you some help first, then we can review everything. It'll be okay, Fives. We'll sort this out."

A growl of frustration burst out of Fives' mouth, "You don't believe me!"

"Fives," Rex said calmly, "We are listening to you. We only want to help."

"How do I know you're not tricking me?" Fives demanded, "How do I know it won't be a trap. The chancellor will try to kill me, I promise you that!"

"The chancellor?" Skywalker sounded skeptical.

"He's in on it! I don't know to what extent, but I know he orchestrated much of this. He told me in the medical bay."

"He told you," Skywalker snapped, "when you tried to assassinate him? You have gone too far, Fives. The chancellor is incapable of what you claim."

"He is! I swear to you general-"

"Stand down, trooper! Stand down! Get on your knees!" Fives whirled around to see a squad of shock troopers running towards him.

"No! No, no! Stay back!" Fives' eyes slid frantically to where Rex's pistols sat.

"Don't do it! Don't do it soldier!"

"Get away from me!" Fives screamed.

The sound of blaster shots echoed through the warehouse.

"Fives?" Rex's voice broke the silence a few seconds later.

Fives stood trembling, Rex's pistol in his hand. Spread around the warehouse in front of him, the shock troopers were stumbling to their feet, or lay stunned where they had been thrown.

"What?" Skywalker's voice cut through his spiraling thoughts.

Fives glanced over his shoulder, locking eyes with Rex, who stood stunned behind the ray shield. Somehow, Rex was able to gather enough information from his expression to guess what Fives was planning.

"Fives, wait!" Rex called, as Fives turned and ran out of the warehouse, stunning any members of the Coruscant Guard who tried to follow.

Rex's cries followed him as he sprinted to the hidden speeder, and slipped farther into the Coruscant underworld.
