Long ago, on Talus, a remote planet in the Corellian systems, fate crossed the paths of two former Jedi Knights: Kento Marek and Mallie Sera. Both had been strong defenders of the Jedi Order, but the devastating Clone Wars led them to question the principles they were once sworn to protect. After watching the Republic they swore to serve turn into a ruthless war machine, they made the same decision: to leave the Order behind and seek a new purpose away from the horrors of conflict.
When they met on Talus, they both recognized the weight of the past in each other's eyes. Kento, serious but compassionate, found himself working as a mechanic to keep a low profile, while Mallie, always willing to help others, had found refuge among the local settlers. As they shared their stories, they discovered that their wounds were similar. Both had lost friends and students, and both carried the guilt of not having done more to save them.
That connection morphed into something more. Weeks passed, then months, and finally, love blossomed between them. For the first time in years, they felt hope. In the year 21 BBY, that hope was realized with the birth of a son: Galen Marek. The child was received as a gift of destiny, proof that even in the darkest of times, light could emerge.
The family lived happily for a few years in Talus, always keeping alert but enjoying peace. However, that tranquility would be short-lived.
Learning that the Jedi were being exterminated throughout the Galaxy and fearing for the fate of his son and them, Kento contacted an old friend named Tarrfull, a Wookiee tribal chief who knowing the situation the members of his order were going through, let them settle on Kashyyyk, where the family would once again live in peace and happiness for a time until one day...Mallie Marek was killed.
Devastated, Kento found himself in the difficult situation of raising Galen alone, until one day misfortune knocked again at his doorstep. In the year 18 BBY, the Empire had invaded Kashyyyk. Kento as a way to repay all the help he had been given by the Wookiees helped in the fight, however, little did he know that in the midst of the invasion, one of the most powerful beings in the Galaxy, Darth Vader, had been assigned the mission to assassinate him upon being discovered by the Emperor's spies.
