~~~(POV: Jedi Padawan Taylor Azure)~~~
~~~(Date: 569 BBY)~~~

Mom and I bring the Jedi Freighter down and turn off the ship. She looks at me with a smile as we exit onto this new planet. Most of the time, we're on diplomatic missions. Relief efforts. Things of that sort. This is the first time we're doing an investigation of hostile forces.

There is excitement for me in the end. There are so many things to see in the galaxy, and that includes the ugly. Pirates are among that group.

We walk down the ship's ramp, and as we do, a group of men and women with fine clothes approach. Our Jedi robes help us on any formal or informal occasion, such as this.

"Greetings, Master Jedi. I'm Kenneth Dardos. Welcome to Onderon. Having someone of your reputation visit our humble world is a pleasure. These are my associates. They'll be helping you in your mission here."

The man waves to who I assume are his friends in an introductory manner. As I get a better look at them, the men among the group are rather infatuated with Mom. The women remain stiff and unmoving. It's not a first.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Dardos. I take it you're the contact we were told about. I didn't realize you'd be bringing friends."

It's not long before we're walking beside the man.

"Considering the scope of what we're trying to do, we'll need the help. Truth be told, the report the Jedi received from the Republic about our situation isn't as accurate as we hoped."

The issue of pirates must be far larger than what we originally thought. We know they control most of the planet with bribes. However, if the number of pirates is high, the council's position on this could change.

"Master Azure and I are only here to investigate and scout the pirate influence and power that's appeared on Onderon. We're not here to put an end to your pirate problem."

From the way Dardos is speaking, he thinks we're here to solve the pirate infestation. His attention shifts to me, and a smile appears.

Dardos knows who I am; the feelings I sense from him are illuminating. He's a rather proud man, but he doesn't dismiss anyone until he's heard them out.

"Yes, we're aware of your task on Onderon. The Jedi High Council was quite adamant about that. Despite the several offers we made for an immediate solution."

Looks like they went directly to the Jedi instead of going through the Senate. Many issues have been piling up, and most are blaming Chancellor Regalm. After his reelection, his agenda with the Republic completely changed.

The Senate has the power to kick Regalm out of office, but many systems are profiting off the current state. Thanks to Regalm. I doubt he'll lose power anytime soon.

"The council sends specialists to deal with problems Onderon is experiencing. My padawan and I handle diplomatic and corporate disputes. Along with relief efforts. We're not the ones you want to eliminate the pirates."

I need to learn how Mom controls the direction of a conversation. She made it look so easy. The feelings of disappointment at our rejection for not getting rid of the pirates now dissipate in the people we're walking with.

"Since you're here on time, we have the briefing ready at the Unifar Temple. The King is looking forward to meeting you. After all, the Azure pair has gained quite a reputation."

When I started training under Mom, I never thought we'd become people with a reputation. It's strange, as a Jedi. However, it's helped us more than not.

In our missions, since I became a padawan, Mom and I have resided in many places around the galaxy with high luxury. Temples, palaces, and castles. We've also spent time in tents and on the ground outside.

The relief missions we do on planets struggling are when we don't have soft beds and warm rooms. Despite that, those are my favorite missions.

We're really able to help people when doing a mission of the relief kind. Whether it be for an accident, relocation, or something else.

Mom and Dardos continue speaking as we make it to the Unifar Temple. It's a beautiful place and is said to be a particular location strong in The Force. Being here now, I can see it was only a fable.

As we enter a throne room, a sort of party is going on. Not one that I'd call fun; it's more about stuffy nobles.

It's not good for Mom and me. Many of these people are from outside Iziz. Meaning there are likely bribed officials in the room. Dardos has effectively blown our cover. It's a bit frustrating, but we'll adapt to the situation at hand.

"It's okay, Taylor. While I'd have preferred our cover stay on until we actually investigated a bit, it's important that we don't waste this opportunity. There are many people in this room who can help our investigation. We'll interview some after our meeting with the King."

The whispering of her voice is only loud enough for me to hear as we approach the King. Once we're at the bottom of the stairs, the man stands up and begins walking down to us.

"May I introduce you to his majesty King Finner Gaes. Ruler of Onderon and the one to originally request help from the Senate."

Once in front of us, we both lower our heads slightly in respect of his position. He's on the older side of life, around 50. I can sense his health is failing him, and he's not long for this world. He might be trying to rid Onderon of corruption before he's gone.

"Ahh... Master Krayla and padawan Taylor... I've heard good things about you two from my old friends on Alderaan. I can see now why so many nobles confessed their infatuation with you two."

The voice of the King is weak and tired. He moves us from the room as we walk with him and his guard. His words do make a smile appear on my lips. Mom wasn't the only one who was proposed to on Alderaan.

Young noblemen and some women also liked me. It's a hard concept to understand. How can you like someone after only just meeting them? And attachments of love are forbidden for Jedi. Yet, it's another tenet of the Jedi Code I struggle with.

Dardos is behind us, and he's left his group of friends behind. After a short walk, we enter a private room. The King is helped to his chair, and any strength he puts on display disappears. His body begins to sweat, and his breathing gets rapid.

"As you two can see, my health is in decline. I'm not long for Onderon, and I'll be passing in the coming months. Before I go, I was hoping to rid my world of pirate filth."

There is an edge of aggression at the end of his admittance he's not doing well. Instead of standing here and doing nothing, I approach the King.

However, I'm soon stopped by guards and almost sent the other way.

"No, it's okay. Let her approach."

The guards instantly obey the King's command, and after coming around to his side of the desk, I use The Force to move a chair for me to sit on.

"If you want, I can use The Force to ease your pain and discomfort for a time. I'm trained in the Jedi arts to help people in such conditions."

Instead of saying anything, he slowly nods and closes his eyes. I place my hands on his chest and begin the process of healing any damage I can find. Curing his aliment is impossible, but I can make life a bit better.

I've come to find out on my own that channeling certain feelings; it can make my Force Healing better.

Compassion, sympathy, and tranquility. As I use these emotions, my Force Healing becomes more powerful. It's only been a few seconds, and I feel it's having a good effect.

"Yes... Yes... Thank you, padawan..."

A slight glow in my hands is released as I channel The Force. Proof of my effort to help this man. After another minute of treatment, I sense this is all I can do for the King.

"It's been a few years since the pain has been gone. Perhaps there is hope for this degrading body yet..."

The sarcasm and joking tone at the end of his self-deprecating observation bring some light-hearted energy to the room. The feelings of grief and regret around the room are easily felt. Many respect and love King Gaes.

"I've done the most I can do for you. You'll have a few months without pain, but when time begins running short, it will return..."

The King smiles at me and turns his attention to my Mom. She nods at me with a look of happiness and small pride. She says even among the Jedi, I'm very compassionate.

"You're daughter is a remarkable young woman. You've trained her well. My failing health has taken up enough time already. Now, Dardos. Brief our Jedi friends here fully."

Dardos nods his head in confidence and walks over to the desk. Pressing a button to turn on a holomap. Seems our mission is starting right away.

[No, it's okay. Let her approach.]

[If you want, I can use The Force to ease your pain and discomfort for a time. I'm trained in the Jedi arts to help people in such conditions.]

[Yes... Yes... Thank you, padawan...]

[It's been a few years since the pain has been gone. Perhaps there is hope for this degrading body yet...]

[I've done the most I can do for you. You'll have a few months without pain, but when time begins running short, it will return...]

Compassion... So much compassion... I haven't felt this since I was a child... Two different voices... One is unfamiliar to me. The other, I know.

GAASSSPP

I jolt awake from my dream and move to sit at the edge of the bed. A hand runs through my blond hair, and beads of sweat trail down my forehead. These dreams have been happening more lately. They've become a problem.

Instead of returning to bed, I go to the washroom and splash water on my face. After drying it off, I look in the mirror. The same red glowing eyes look back at me. Yet, that's all that appears on my body to indicate my Darkside usage.

Master Traya taught me some Sith or Darksiders bodies would degrade over time. Depending on how much of the Darkside they drew upon. While others, no matter how much they drew upon, would never see adverse effects.

The Darkside is all I ever use, and my body is as healthy as can be. It was something I was concerned about for a time, but it doesn't seem that I need to worry.

"Darkside symbiosis..."

The two important words escape my lips, and my thoughts go to what Traya taught me in my early years. Some people are born with a natural draw and inclination to use the Darkside.

When this happens, the Darkside affects them differently. One of the effects can be no physical degradation. Traya said she suspected I was one such person but would have to wait and see.

That was four years ago. Her suspicions turned out to be true. Traya is hardly ever wrong. It shouldn't surprise anyone; I stopped being surprised years ago.

My thoughts go to the dream I had earlier. In my pursuit of revenge, I've been shoving other things to the side. One of them is a connection I share. It's a female padawan. That's all I know. I have a bond with her.

She's unware we have a bond, from what I know.

Traya told me a Force Bond can manifest for a variety of reasons. Or no reason at all. It all depends on The Force. Telling me it's one of the reasons she hated The Force.

Leaving the washroom and making it to the kitchen, I sit down and press a button on the holoterminal fixed to the table. The list of targets appears. Around six months ago, the Hutts caught onto what I was doing.

The sudden and rapid deaths of their most powerful wasn't something I could cover up. The maddening part is every time I kill a Hutt; another replaces it.

When they went into hiding, I knew it'd be a pain in the ass to find them. These scum suckers know how to hide and stay hidden. Using their desires and needs to find them was my only option left. Hence, why I found Desik.

Say what you want about Hutts, but they're predictable regarding their tastes. Slaves, spice, and control. The third isn't something you can't buy from a Smuggler or Slaver, so I'm using the first two.

Not to mention the Jedi being onto me now. An eight-year run without them being all that interested is pretty good, but considering the recent growth in my abilities, they'd come searching.

These last two years under Traya's teachings have shown me a lot about The Force. Made me far more powerful than someone my age should be, with the Darkside or not.

Beep. Boop. Beep. Beep.

My thoughts are halted as D4 enters the kitchen and approaches me. My only real friend and individual I trust. I've had him since I saved him on Geonosis. He was working with Mercs before they were killed.

He was about to be turned into scrap by the Geonosians before I saved his metal ass.

"I don't care about how dangerous it is."

His earlier mess of sounds were concerns about the planet we're heading to. It's not the friendliest to outsiders such as us.

Beep. Beep. Beep. Beep. Boop.

"All you need to do is stay on the ship and go where I tell you to go. You don't have to deal with any blasters."

He's not fond of getting shot at; most things in the galaxy aren't.

He rolls away with an attitude, and I roll my eyes. They say droids are just machines, but in my time with D4, I've come to see that's a lie. As much as I don't want to admit it, he's saved my ass a few times.

Several close calls about a year and a half ago.

Wouldn't have made it out without his help. He's an excellent astromech, and I'm not one for complimenting anyone or anything.

Not one for words or talking in general. Only speak when I need to. People find it more intimidating. Makes my hunts and attacks effective against large groups.

To them, I'm a force of nature. It gets in their heads.

Deadly red Force Lightning helps with intimidation too.

My eyes turn to the viewport attached to the kitchen. Hyperspace light passes through and into the room. There is much to do. The Hutts I'm after are the last of the most powerful, and when I'm done with them. I can focus on my original goal.

It won't be easy, but to find the Rakata Prime, I'll need a star map with the coordinates. Traya said the Jedi should have it.

In the Temple on Coruscant.

Something I'm not ready for and won't be until I'm done with the Hutts. But in the end, I don't see how I can get Revans Sith Holocron without going to Rakata Prime.

Even if it's not there, I can follow some trail in The Force to find it.
