A Minor Miscalculation

The night finally came for the bunker citizens to enter cryo sleep. As everyone entered their pods, they kissed loved one's goodnight as they closed the doors to their pods, ready to enter the next era of their civilization.

"I hope this is over soon, ten years isn't too long, and we should have plenty of resources to collect when we awaken." said the Ghost as he entered the room.

"Agreed my friend, see you in ten years." replied Daniel as he and his wife arrived at their pod."

The Ghost holds his wife. "I'll be here when we wake up, I promise." She smiles at him as they kiss and enter their pods.

The pods seal and freeze the residents leaving only handful of scientists to watch and monitor them.

Time passes and The Ghost, Madie and Daniel are the first to be awoken by some strange new faces.

"Good morning everyone! We've been waiting a long time to meet you!"

"Wait...am I tripping or are those not the same scientists we left to watch us." asked Daniel. "You're not tripping, they're not the same." chimed in Madie exiting her pod.

"We apologize for scaring you, but this video should explain everything."

The two load up a video and press play.

"Commander Ghost, Chief of Science Madie, and Vice Commander Light. We are sorry for the confusion, about 70 years ago a storm kicked up and took all the calculations we had and tossed them out the window. Our moms and dads told us about when and how were to wake you. Standing before you are our grandchildren. They have been told about all of you, and we know this will be a shock, but you all have been asleep damn near 300 years. Life on the surface is no more than deer and rodents. We have detected no signs of human life. By the time you have woken up, the bunker entrance will have been unburied. and everything will be ready for you to rebuild. I am the last one at this point and I am on my death bed, about a week from you all waking up. I wish I was there to welcome you but sadly I won't be. Good luck, and safe rebuilding to you all."

The video ends and the two step back forwards and look at everyone. "We know this is probably very disorienting and a lot to take in. We look forward to working with you. The Three look at the young scientists, and their eyes of almost tainted eagerness.

"What exactly do you know about us?" asked the Ghost

"Everything, including that nasty scar from the barb wound."

The Ghost narrows his glare, holding the scar. "Very...perceptive."

The scientists begin walking everyone up as Daniel and Madie think over the news they got. However, the Ghost puts on his Coveralls, and stares out at the sea of people leaving their pods, ready to tackle their next challenge.

"Time to be their leader and hero." he said walking out of his room to greet his wife.
