Chapter Twenty-Three

Angel stood under the dim light swaying side to side in the abandoned building. Samuel was tied to the chair and bleeding from all the nails plucked from his fingers.

"Now, what do you have on Darrow?"

Samuel struggled to speak, all his teeth on the ground. He moved lifelessly in the chair, both his achilles tendons slashed. He was definitely not going anywhere.

"What do you have on him?" Angel repeated.

"Nothing," he slurred. "I just wanted revenge by killing the love of his life. He tried to kill me. Healing from that was hell."

"You have nothing on him?"

"Please..."

"I set your house on fire by the way. Just in case. And I put drugs in your car. The police are looking for you. So even if I free you, you'll be locked up forever."

"I beg you!"

"I need to know that you can't threaten Darrow or me ever again."

"Just kill me..."

"Well, that could work too," she said as she picked up a can of gasoline. She emptied it over his head. His eyes lit up wildly and he shook violently against his restraints.

"Please! Please!"

"What do you have on him?"

"I-I had enough! But he tried-tried to kill me! Then I survived and c-came back and found that he had wiped everything. I went through hell and then I met y-you! You know everything! Please don't kill me!"

"You know, Samuel," she said. "I trust you."

"Oh, thank you! Thank you so much! You should leave him! He's capable of killing!"

"But you should've thought twice before crossing me," she said, picking up a match. "Because I also happen to be a killer."

And she threw the lit match into his body.

The door crashed open, and Darrow came rushing in.

"Angel!"

They flew into an embrace and parted temporarily so he could cup her cheeks and feel her in his arms.

"What happened?"

She explained everything to him. "I'm sorry for hurting you. Nothing stands in our way anymore."

"That charred piece of crap is Samuel?"

"Yes," she said.

"You killed him for us?"

She nodded.

He yanked her body into his, his hand firmly on her ass. He bit hard into her lips as he sucked the air out of her mouth with a rough kiss.

"Fuck," he said. "You're everything."

"I'd do anything for us, Darrow."

"We make history, Angel."

"What do you mean?"

"Because this presidential couple is deadly."

"Are you sure, Darrow?" Angel said as she sat in the passenger seat. They were on their way to Dalgaco to live the rest of their life together there after Darrow had stepped down from being the President. "They'd probably still take you back."

"Oh, I'm sure," he laughed.

"But you've always wanted presidency."

"I did," he said. "But now I've found something worth more."

She smiled shyly. "I love you too, Darrow."

"I'd give anything up for you, Angel. Let's live out the rest of our days in this new town."

"I can't believe we're finally having our happy ending," she said. "We've come so far."

"Remind me again how we ended up here."

"Well, we're here because I was," she said. "Stalking the President."
