What extent would you go for your friends? ... After graduating high school, 8 friends juggle friendship, love, careers and finance in this game called life. Even after spending 2 years of school together, it comes as a riddle that these girls don't know each other that well. The good ones are bad. The bad ones are worse. And the neutral ones are biased. CHAPTER 9

Within an hour, news of the fight had spread on every part of the school. I did say it in the beginning; even after the teachers found out that it was Ylle who beat Jackie to a pulp, they didn't buy it. And just like that, she got away with it.

Later that day, me and the rest of Jackie's friends paid her a visit at the infirmary. We didn't expect to find her with an arm cast. Her elbow bone, or something biology related was dislocated. She was to be taken to a bigger hospital the next day. Her whole face was just puffy, and for the first time in her life, she looked pretty ugly.

Her little sister, aka the messenger, Julia, was seated next to her, massaging the cast-free arm. She was furious and had been crying with her sister for the last hour.

"Jackie didn't deserve this.", Julia spoke over her clenched jaw, "Why isn't she punished?",

"Because nobody believes that it's her.", I told her.

"You all witnessed the fight! Why didn't you speak up?",

"We did.",

"A bunch of pussies.", said Julia with a pinch of disgust.

Well, she and her sister were fucking brats. The truth is nobody in our class came forward to give a statement. We all stood back. Why? Because to some level, we knew Jackie deserved the beating. And there wasn't a prize for a snitch, so why take the risk?

"I'm going to fucking kill that bitch!", Julia cussed,

And instead of taking her seriously, we just found ourselves laughing at her like she was kind of dumb or something.

"Sweetie, take a look at your sister.", said one of our friends, "There's no part of her body which isn't sore. Have you ever seen her like this since you were born? No, you haven't.".

"We advise you to sit this one out and thank God that your sister's eyes are still intact.", added another girl.

"She hurt my sister _",

"And she'll hurt you too.", I warned her, "May I remind you that Ylle is insane? That psychopath smiled when she saw the pen on that desk. We're your seniors asking you to let this go even though it hurts. If your sister could speak, she'd tell you the same thing.".

Julia turned to face Jackie, and Jackie, although difficult, managed to give it a nod, as in, she agreed with what we told her little sister.

The rumor of Ylle and Mr. Willy died as quickly as it started. Nobody dared to even hint about it. It was on that day that I believed nobody is a hundred percent good. We all have a monster hidden deep within us, just waiting for the perfect time to be unleashed. Yes, some monsters are bigger than others and hard to contain, but given the circumstances, we can all do bad things in the heat of the moment. I had stopped saying 'I can't do that' because damn right I can.

If a perfect, almost Mother Teresa-like girl like Ylle could beat someone out of control, anybody can.
