SSS-Class Plunderer

This book is dropped. Check my new novel and WSA entry 'Re: In Another World With The Strongest System' here: http://wbnv.in/a/5fh5i6F ...... 20 Years Ago, the apocalypse came to Earth. Animals and plants have evolved into savage beasts, while unknown threats lurk in the shadows. Dungeons appeared, each with its own set of dangerous monsters. Hope was lost until they appeared. They were called the ‘Awakened.’ They were humans who had special abilities that allowed them to fight back these monsters. Using this newly acquired power, humanity eventually reclaimed half of the Earth’s land as of now. Then what about me? Ha, I’m a failed potential SSS Class Awakened. Due to an accident, my potential degraded to F Class which was no different from a normal human. Are you kidding me? They even created the so-called F Class potential specifically for me as a sign of ‘respect’ for my previous potential rank. But I ignored the humiliation and continued to be an ‘Awakened,’ working as a porter to make a living. It was the good old days. But one day, after narrowly escaping death in a dungeon, I received a mysterious ability that allowed me to plunder the abilities of the monsters or humans I killed. “Finally! I have another chance to change my fate! ” However, all of my joy would vanish after the first time I used the skill. Although it claims to be able to plunder someone’s abilities, it appears that this skill... is also plundering something within me. …………….. Jason vs Hans

Jason smiled cheerfully having seen the blood on the floor. It seemed like his bodyguards had quite a bit of fun torturing Hans.

Based on the cracks on the wall, Hans might have been smashed in there too. Those guards really did a good job.

As a smirk formed on his lips, Jason turned towards others. Frightened, the group flinched and stepped back. The fear Jason instilled in them was overwhelmingly huge.

"You think I'm gonna kill you all?" With his brow furrowed, Jason asked, "Am I that evil in your eyes?"

Everyone lowered their heads afraid that Jason might suddenly change his mind. In truth, if not for Jason's mercy, no one wouldn't be able to get out of the dungeon. At that time, they would either get killed or left behind. Either way, they'll still die.

However, their minds couldn't be forced to be grateful at all. Instead, fear was creeping in their bones making their skin shiver and cower.

About two of them died in his hands so Jason couldn't blame them. But then again, it was also their fault that they were in this unfavorable situation.

Jason took a quick strode forward as if finding something valuable. On the way, he encountered blood spills and many broken teeth. This might have come from Hans; that guy is weak after all.

The group behind followed him quietly and seeing lots of blood from the floor, assumed that Hans was already dead.

Jason led the team to the small narrow space where his bodyguard should've kept Hans body.

At that moment, something he never thought about in his life happened.

"W-what?"

There, Hans was walking towards them. A head of man hanging from his hand.

....

"What? Didn't expect I'm alive and well?"

Seeing Jason's disbelieving expression, Hans confirmed the whole picture. He had a false hope that at least he was somewhat wrong in his suspicions but the reality was different.

"H-how are you alive!!?"

"Uh? Am I not supposed to live?"

Jason's reaction was amusing to watch. But as much as he wanted to see more, Hans needed to end this.

Glancing out, Hans stared at Kyle who seemed to be looking at him with sympathy. Looks like Jason already told them his plan.

'Well, it's sad…'

To see his colleagues gang up on him, Hans felt his chest tight. It did surprise him, however, since they decided to go against him, Hans didn't need to change his mind.

Kill.

It would somehow hurt but perhaps that's human nature. Plundy said that his weakness was his weak heart. Being emotional and impulsive, those traits shouldn't be on a battlefield.

That is why…

Swish—

Hans' sword stabbed straight to Hendrick's neck with his eyes closed. His will was firm now.

Blood splattered to the ground but before Hendrick could even register what happened death already harvested his life.

"Fuck!! Jason!! Help us!!"

"Where are your bodyguards!!? Didn't you say Hans was already beaten up!! You fucking liar!!"

"W-why is he so fast!?"

Exclamations of the group rang to his head, however, as if he didn't hear them, Hans continued his rampage. Going to the right, his blade went straight towards Ada.

Suddenly…

Clang—

Two blades collided and spark. With his eyes narrowed, Hans stared at the figure who blocked his strike.

"Don't ignore me, Hans."

"I didn't… you're my prey after all."

Clang —

The blades clashed again creating flickering lights, as they tried to push back one another.

"Prey? You made me laugh."

"Your guards were useless."

"Hahaha, if they were useless… then I'll finish you."

Two men vanished from one spot and appeared at a distance with their swords evenly matched. Trying to overpower Hans, Jason put a lot of strength into his sword which blunted it in the process.

Meanwhile, Hans stood still, gauging Jason's strength in each clash. He didn't activate any buffs besides body enhancing so their strength was at an equal scale.

"I'm getting bored."

Hans quickly slammed his foot down on Jason, activating 'Dragon Kick' in the process.

Crack—

"Kyyaah!!!"

Having focused on their sword clash, Jason was caught off guard by the sudden pain shooting from his chest. Jason flew to the wall, destroying it in the process, he tried to get up but Hans did not give him any room to counter.

'Fire Control!'

With his foot blazing in fire, Hans displayed an ax kick towards Jason's head.

Baaam—

Shu—

"Damn you!!!!"

Baaaam—

Jason activated all his defensive skills yet the damage still penetrated those and successfully connected to his head.

Up until now, he thought that Hans could only be at B-class strength and they should be evenly matched. With his superior equipment, Hans shouldn't stand a chance at all. But seeing Hans break his treasured equipment, Jason couldn't afford to underestimate him anymore.

Jason summoned his only S-rank item and immediately poured mana into it. The small orb suddenly enlarged and enveloped him in a blue aura.

Bang—

"Huh?"

Hans stopped and backed away seeing his attack didn't penetrate the barrier. It was a shame that he didn't get to finish his final kick.

"You sure have many goods huh?" Hans spoke in disdain; his eyes calmly focused on the barrier.

The bloodied Jason struggled to stand up, but he still answered his call, "Cough—, you bastard you almost killed me!!"

Even with his face slightly deformed, Jason managed to display a smile and mockingly laugh, "HAHAHAHA, this was my father's prized treasure!! You can't break my defense."

With the equipment activated, it's equivalent to having invincibility. Jason was confident that Hans couldn't break an S-class equipment. But even then, he still held his guard up, afraid that Hans might have tricks at his sleeves.

'That item is familiar.'

Due to the heat of the battle, Hans couldn't quite remember where he had seen that but surely, he already saw it in a picture. The barrier was tough. It was harder than any other object he had encountered. He didn't even dent the barrier after that kick which was enough to injure an A-class.

'Should I use 'The Balance'?'

Weighing evil and good is the weakness of this skill. He didn't know what would happen if the target's good nature surpassed the evil one so he's reluctant to use it for now.

'Berserk is on to cool down, my clone would be useless as well. My mana is depleting too.'

In his estimate, he could only last for 2 minutes more before he passed out in exhaustion.

'So I need to clean up.'

Hans shifted his gaze to others who were already cowering in fear. Their eyes looked at him like he's some wretched beast ready to start the carnage. Hans didn't think that it'd come to this but even then, he had to do what he needed to achieve.

"H-Hans, we're not part of this okay!" Ada stuttered and explained with her legs trembling, "Jason!! He's the one who orchestrated this! He threatened our family!"

"T-that's right! He even killed Brian and Wayne!"

"Calm down Hans, we're not your enemy…"

Because they explained almost at the same time, their voices became muffled instead. Hans clenched the sword and swung it to the nearest human.

It was the Healer.

Shring—

He grabbed his neck after feeling the burning sensation. Shortly, the man fell to the floor with his eyes widened.

"M-monster!!!"

"Ahhhhh!!!!"

"Noo!!! Please!!!"

Hans dashed in fast speed and weaved his blade towards the group.

Slash, slash, slash, slash, slash—

Twisting and turning his body, Hans dodge a sword narrowly and counterattacked towards the striker's weak points.

Slash—stab —

The group's number began to decrease.

6… 5….4….3

In the end, only Kyle was left alive but he's already bleeding too. His left eye was smashed while his right hand was severed. Just below his chest, blood continued to spill from the large cut made by Hans's sword.

Hans raised his sword and swung it towards Kyle's neck but before the blade could cut, he felt a slight change of wind behind him.

'Shit!'

Clang—

Jason looked into Hans's eyes and flinched. His sword was blocked… no, rather his sword hit the target but it didn't penetrate his skin.

'Turtle Shell'

This was the reason why the blade didn't work but Hans still felt a stinging pain in his back. On the other hand, Jason's arms trembled.

'I…'

After failing to inflict damage, Jason could not think of any possible solution to defeat this guy. The orbs' protection has just ended because his mana was exhausted. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Jason tried to catch Hans off guard but it seemed he already anticipated his attack.

"Are you done?" Hans spoke coldly.

Hearing the murderous intent contained in the voice, Jason's body shook lightly. His body felt heavy as if he was struggling to move deep in the ocean. The strength that he was proud of was cut off just like that.

"Tell me, are you done?"

Again, that devil spoke. Jason let go of his weapon and flopped down to the ground. He pushed his legs and hands to retreat but it didn't listen.

'This, this can't be!!'

Jason panicked in fright. He was a high ranking B-class and he's being toyed with by a guy who he despised so much.

This can't be real!

'Yes, yes this is a dream. Fortunately, this is a dream.'

Jason couldn't finish his thoughts. His panic immediately turned into terror. Hans charged straight at him. Although Hans' steps were slow, to Jason's eyes it was as fast as a cheetah. Thus, without thinking, he swung his fist Hans's face with all of his strength as a final resort.

Shu—

Hans did not twist his body to dodge the punch. This was somewhat inclined to his calculations. He already knew that Jason wouldn't just go down without a final resort. They fought shortly but that was enough to read how Jason thinks.

In the final clashes of strength, Jason's mouth widens in realization.

'Shit!'

Stab—

Jason's fist connected to Hans's face, deforming it until… it vanished in a puff of smoke.

Shu—

"Cough—"

Jason gritted his teeth in pain. In the moment he saw Hans didn't dodge, he realized that the battle had already been decided. Blood seeped from the corner of his mouth. Jason smiled bitterly as he lowered his gaze to his chest. Of all those times he wished he'd die fighting monsters, he didn't think his life would be ended by his kin.

In his final breath, he muttered.

'I'm sorry… Sully.'

...…..

Jason stood in the hall with a proud smile beside him were his friends and classmates wearing their cheerful faces.

"Congratulations!!!"

"Hahaha, finally we could raid a dungeon!!" Brian wrapped his arms around Jason and whispered, "Hey, I heard you and Sully were engaged now."

Embarrassed by Brian's sudden question, Jason unknowingly blushed.

"N-no… not yet."

"So confirmed?" Brian immediately went towards others, "Guys, it's confirmed!! They were getting engaged!"

"Huh? Who?"

"Jason and Sully!"

"Eh?" Everyone looked at Jason like a proud father.

"No, haha." He didn't think that Brian would suddenly tell others. Jason had no choice but to scratch his head.

"Sh—"

"Congratulations Jason."

At that moment, a deep voice suddenly interrupted. Perplexed, everyone moved their eyes towards the man leaning on the wall while holding a water bottle in his hand.

Jason's eyes sparkled and quickly approached the man. As he approached, the man smiled teasingly.

"As expected of you, even Sully succumbed to your shamelessness."

"Haha, I'm not like that." This time Jason smiled seriously and spoke. His eyes contained gratitude, "... But thank you, Hans."
