Prologue Part 2

Somehow. Somewhere. In my mind. What is currently occurring. Feels, somewhat, familiar. Yet ever so painful to think about.

"Naku!" A girl screams, distant, almost as if I were underwater. Maybe I am, or perhaps it's just the blood that soaks my hands, fills my ears and spews from my mouth.

"Shit! Someone get some cloth! O-or call a doctor!" Some boy shouts, huh he sounds like he would be annoying. I hear fingers rapidly clacking on plastic, a phone. The girl's hand places itself at the back of my head with the other hand placed around my shoulder blades. My temple softly lays against the base of her collarbone. Finger nails digging into my skin.

"What do you do to yourself." The girl whispers. Oh, that's right, I have friends don't I.

"Nakui..." Right? My voice rusting away with the breeze nudging at me. Blackness lays before me, purely, however, the wind stings my eyes, I must look dead.

Nakui presses her forehead against my hair and brings me closer. There's something especially strange to be without control of your own body, leaving it to the safety of those you trust. "Shuny, Nakui, Stephane," The words tumble from my mouth, almost silent, "I think I'm dying." The world fades to white.

Floorboards creak under my feet. Wooden floorboards. A ceiling. Where am I? And why am I so small?

My eyelids struggle to lift themselves open, a hallway, a single light bulb hangs, just barely illuminating all the cracks and crevasses with an orange glow. At the end is a door, I flinch, I've been here before, I know it. As blood spills from underneath it all seems to tick in my mind. The door swings open, revealing a black figure with the words S.E.C engraved on it's suit, behind it lays Mother and Father. Soaked from head to toe in a blue luminescent liquid clashing with blood.

"Tsk!" the figure glares down upon me.

Don't tell me I'm... in the past, a "flashback".

It wasn't just a house fire like I thought I remembered. It was a murder, no an assassination. Someone's duty was to kill my family. So it is my duty to kill whatever this thing is.

"Die." I request. My hand lifts up, illuminating a white light, a creature resembling what seems to be a transparent fox flows from my palm and engulfs the figure. In a split second, they're nothing but bones and blood.

"Wh-" I jolt up from my position, "huh?" I'm... laying on a purple and black bed? It doesn't seem like the hospital either. It feels like, Nakui's house. "Nakui's house!?" I whisper shout before covering my mouth with my hands, wrapped in a white bandage across the palm and intersection between my index finger and thumb, another around my head, over my right eye. A wooden bookshelf to my right stacked to the brim and a white desk to my left with notebooks, pens, erasers, a laptop, Blade headphones, and a sketchbook. I fall backwards, my head plops against the pillow. I hear softened footsteps, presumably someone wearing socks, getting closer to the door. A brown-haired girl with a white ribbon pokes her head from out of the side, suited in a light brown woollen sweater and loose black trackpants. Nakui? So I'm back.

"Oh hey, you're awake," a sad smile spreads across her face, "I thought you were gone for sure..." she takes a step into the room, taking the ribbon out, which results in her hair being let down, the first time I've seen it in such a way.

"Yeah. I thought so too." I add, gazing down at the blanket. Who was that man? Why was it his duty? The questions race around my mind, I just can't get a hold of it. More importantly, I now know that I'm likely not human. I lift my legs up out of the bed and stand up without uttering a word.

"Oh, you can stand..." her words drift off. I inhale deeply and take a step forward, my right knee crumbles under the pressure as I fall. Nakui swiftly embraces me before I hit the floor. "You shouldn't try walking yet, you haven't fully healed." Her eyebrows slightly curved upward.

In my dream, I had lost control of something and destroyed another person. I know that whoever that was had assassinated my parents. Despite this, even now I wouldn't have wanted that kind of end result. Perhaps I AM a dangerous species, so would it only be fitting for my existence to end for the safety of everyone around me?

"Sorry," my gaze shifts towards the exit, "but I'm fine."
