Using Your Head

Devi used his invisibility to sneak behind the two boys waiting to catch Clark when he returned. It was all too easy since both boys had the same beast blind many spiritual beasts.

'Small rock golem- uncommon

The small rock golem is unique. It can grow much larger depending on what it is fed. It is limited to stone materials therefore it can only ever be as tough as what it has eaten. It has great strength and physical prowess but very little spiritual skill. The weakness of any golem is its core but also the fact that its body takes time to reform once broken.'

Clark had seen this as a massive benefit. The two small rock golems would be unable to sense Devi at all. Along with this, Cark knew that the small rock golems were slow. The heavy weight took time to move toward a target meaning that Clark would have the upper hand over these older students with his ghostly steps.

"Hey, did you hear that? I think someone was laughing at us." One of the boys heard Devi's echoing laughter starting softly. But to add even more to it, Devi intentionally ruffled some leaves to make it appear someone had run by laughing.

"It's that kid. He has to be laughing that he will sneak by us. Smart brat doesn't know what he's messing with." The second boy drew a false conclusion so easily that Clark was led to believe that there was a major educational gap in this world.

The best part was that the two boys had become so distracted that they didn't notice Clark coming behind them. He knew that he couldn't allow them to put two and two together with his disguise. So, Clark hurriedly stored the mask away while pulling out a large cloak he had for rainy days. It played the bonus of helping him hide among the trees due to the dim light.

"Where are you brat!? We are going to show you what happens when you go against the Cain family."

"We'll see you change your tune when the young master extends a hand of friendship for you next time!"

The two were yelling at nothing as Devi stopped holding back. The laughter became distorted, changing directions and loudness. The anger and energy the two boys had had a moment ago became frantic. They had no idea what was going on and neither did the small rock golems.

The small rock golems attempted to follow their tamer's orders but found that there was not a single target around. "The trees! They are in the trees, break them!" Both boys yelled out this order while Clark had an ingenious idea. One that would do much more than just get back at the two boys trying to get him.

"Devi, keep laughing for three minutes then stop and hide behind me." Clark backed away and changed completely in to his uniform. He was sure that he had the time since the boys were so distracted. After three minutes and Clark changing, he felt Devi land on his shoulder. "Hold on partner."

Moving as quickly as possible, Clark dashed toward the nearest guard post. The tamer's guarding the city had multiple posts throughout the city to ensure that everyone maintained the law. "Excuse me, sir!" The voice that Clark mimicked was one of a worried citizen. His act had to be flawless.

"What seems to be the problem today? Normally we don't have Nova academy students just rushing over here." The guard had a three toed frog on his head. One that seems weak but possessed very powerful water type skills able to defeat enemies much larger than itself.

"I was on the way back from an errand given to me by my mentor and I heard a lot of noise from the trees by the gate to Nova academy. I wasn't sure what was going on so I had to report it. I can't let my academy down." The pure and honest look of determination that Clark put on made the guard smile.

"First year, huh? You have the right mindset to become a guard like me when you graduate. I strongly recommend you keep up the good work. You might even be on the road to becoming the head guard of internal affairs." The guard praised the honest looking Clark before making a few hand signals to the guards behind him resting.

Clark followed behind them slowly. He wanted to ensure that he witnessed everything but wasn't spotted. Cracking wood from the trees was still sounding. The two had been scared enough to the point that they hadn't even noticed that Devi's laughter was gone. Their small rock golems were continuously attacking as their tamers desired. No one would know what was wrong with them.

"Come out and have your beast stand down or we will come in with force!" The guard that Clark had spoken to yelled out the orders. But no change came and the squad of guards separated. They each had large spears and shields since they were better to protect and attack from a distance while their beasts supported them. "Move in!"

Just as the first crash of stone shattering echoed out of the tree, Clark started to walk through the gate. He barely heard the two boys yelling as they were tackled and subdued by the guards. "And that is how we deal with two fools without beating them up. You were perfect Devi." The small cackle from Devi showed how happy he was to be praised for his skills. It wasn't a fight but an intellectual battle.

The academy guard was the very same that Cark had seen when he left. "Ah, you made it back. It looks like you had a good trip from the look on your face. Welcome."

"Everything went just as it should. I heard some strange noises from the trees near the gate so I hope it doesn't cause you any trouble. Here." Cark handed the guard a small fire crystal, "I was going to sell all of them but I thought that your magma crab would like a snack." Clark walked away leaving the guard in a state of awe.

"I didn't even think the kid noticed you hiding there. Not many can." The rock nearby unfolded itself and walked next to the guard. It was fairly large and had a smoking red coloration to the claws. The lava crab snapped at the crystal excited to have a treat during the boring day guarding the gate. "I will have to thank him next time, same with you." There were a few clacks of claws before the magma crab huddled down in the ground again.

"It looks like we have a day left until we should be back to class. So that means we get to train more. I will let you meditate with me and Crim can start to absorb some of the dragon wing bones. I will also go over that biology books to find pressure points. Those black throwing needles are going to be hard to master." Clark was not going to just stop. He had the tools to make himself stronger and he had no reason to remain behind.
