Chapter 12

I am now at the same place. This is a nice open field with grass.

But the forest is nearby. Wild animals still live there and sometimes come out from there.

I have to be extra careful. I stand alone as Hazel is sitting at a distance.

I didn't even tell her but she is already sitting away.

I am hurt. But also grateful that she is that smart.

Saves me a lot of work. I currently have the gun that I stole with me.

It is still weird. A lot like a space gun but nothing that could be said as ammunition is there.

I look closely. It is carved with intricate artwork.

Is this a ritual weapon or something or maybe the prototype model? I can see a trigger.

I hold the gun and pull the trigger.

To my surprise nothing happened. I wasn't even expecting it so no surprise there.

I pulled it again but still no answer.

Hazel is looking at me and I thought, 'why not?'

I point the gun at Hazel and pull the trigger.

This time, I can see light gathering at the muzzle.

Arehh? Isn't something happening? But before I knew, a ball light was gathered and it flew towards Hazel.

"Move." I shout at Hazel.

But thanks to the distance, she had the time to react.

She moved from her spot and the ball struck that place.

It was also slow enough that Hazel could dodge it safely.

I can see a small hole there.

Around half a meter in diameter.

But the firepower is incredible. I was fascinated at that but forgot one thing.

Hazel was looking at me. Then she came charging at me.

She hit me belly first.

And I fell down.

I can see her above me. She is looking at me with complaining eyes.

"Sorry about that." I pat her head and apologize.

She looked away from me like she was mad.

"Don't be mad at me. I was just testing."

She still didn't seem satisfied. Now I am in a pickle.

What to do? I am thinking about that. But then she looked at me.

'Can't be helped!!!' I can totally see that look from her.

Maybe I am forgiven. She got down from my chest.

I am relieved at that but then I noticed that I am feeling tired.

Like my body cannot move.

I laid down for a few minutes and got enough strength to get up.

What was that? I don't know. It felt like my energy was zero.

I look at the gun. It was still as empty as before.

But then I hold it again.

"Let's try a tree." I say and hold it pointing at a tree.

I pull the trigger and the same thing happened.

The tree was burned down and a hole was left.

The size was bigger than before. But I fell down once again.

This time I had a hard time keeping my consciousness.

What is it? Does it steal my energy to fire those bullets? It's truly intriguing.

But I cannot even think straight.

I think I will pass out at this rate.

I see Hazel by my side.

"I…am gonna…..sleep for a….while." I could only say this and my consciousness sank into darkness.
