5 Chapter 5: The Weekend (Part 1)

As it turns out, too much damage had been done to the school for most classes to resume, so classes were cancelled for Friday, leaving that day perfectly clear for Peter. As such, Peter was free to do some swinging through the city during the middle of the day. He did so gently though, his arms was still kind of in pain. It was astonishingly almost all healed, so he just went with it.

He used this time to map out his path to Avengers Tower, before he turned in a different direction and began just surveying the streets. He swung around a corner and thought quickly upon seeing a fire escape directly in front of him, balling up and going straight through the opening, catching the wall of the building with his left hand webs, the momentum carrying him across the street. As he crossed the street, his right hand shot out and he pulled himself to the other side of the street, running along the wall and jumping off, clearing another street. It was about here that his spider sense went off. It led him to a firefight between 2 gangs.

He took up a perch on a streetlight above a thug on the outer side of one of the factions, puppeteering him with his webs, an idea he had earlier, to fire at a nearby fire hydrant. "Hey, fire over there!" He got really really lucky with the angle that the bullets his the fire hydrant, as the little holes let loose high-pressure water which was in just the right line to push one gangster in the back and flying into one of his buddies. "Oh damn, sorry I got you wet. Your mom was wetter though!" Peter kept his puppet strung up, dropping off the streetlight and levering the webs like a fulcrum with the streetlight, swinging down to double-kick the puppet-thug in the face and webbed him as he swung on past. There were two dudes still on this side, but the other side was still shooting, so he started a headscissors on one thug, and as he spun around his head, he splatted a web to the face of a gunman on the other side, finishing his takedown and capping it off with a capoeira-style kick to the second dude's gun, rocking it back to break his nose with the barrel. Peter sprang back up and webbed him up, spinning and chucking him at the other side. "Hey, let's play dodgeball!" He webzipped into the flying thug and kicked him, cannonballing him into 2 of the gunmen on the other side. Peter made an imitation of a buzzer sound. "And you're both out!" Peter shot both hands out, one to either side of him, and wrapped 5 ropes of webbing around the faces of two thugs, before Spider-Man jumped up, his hands clapping together and bringing the two thugs slamming their faces into each other. "Now kith." Peter came back down on his feet only to jump to the side to avoid a bullet that his spider sense warned him of. "Ay yo, anybody ever tell you to not point guns at people?" He shot some webs at this last thug, yanking the gun out of his hand and causing it to fire when it hit the ground, a bullet burrowing into the dude's foot. Peter winced. "Oof, that's gonna hurt. Lemme just put you out cold so you don't have to deal with that. It's my gift, please appreciate it." Said gift was very nice, grade A manhole cover that slammed into the thug's chest, blowing the wind out of him and sending him into the side of a car, his head bouncing of a window. All of the thugs out cold, Peter dusted his hands off before he immediately began swinging away, not too keen on finding out how cops viewed vigilantes.

A few muggings and bank robberies later, Peter was perched on the top of an apartment building scarfing down a pizza. His spider senses rang just a little, not out of danger, more out of "Hey, somebody's heading your way" Taking the initiative to save a slice or two for whatever guest was coming to him, Peter quickly finished his slices and brought his facemask back up, just in time to hear a *THUNK* behind him, and the familiar sarcasm of Tony Stark come out, filtered through the Iron Man mask. "Ah hah! I found him, the not-so-subtle Spider-Boy leaving big curtains of webs everywhere."

Peter rolled his eyes under his goggles and handed the rest of his pizza to Tony. "It's Spider-MAN, Rust Bucket. Call it right, and maybe I won't call you Rust Bucket, Rust Bucket."

Tony popped up his visor and folded up a piece of pizza. "Oh yeah, haven't heard that one before." He rolled his eyes and bit into his piece of pizza. "Ya know, you're just like all those other upstart vigilantes. Belligerent, snarky, disrespectful of authority-"

"Sarcastic, rude, inexperienced, brash, yada yada, yeah I know, skip the lecture, Screws-for-brains. What do you want?"

Tony went business mode. "Director fury wants to talk to you. And so do the rest of us Avengers, actually. I heard you did some good at a school one of my incoming lab assistants goes to, so I guess I'll thank you for that." Spider-Man shrugged and stood up, cracked his knuckles with a bit of a flare of webs, and turned to Tony.

"Last one to the Tower has to trim Hulk's toenails." Peter leaped off the edge and began his rapid swinging, his dexterous hands weaving a path of shooting around corners and up over buildings at ludicrous speed. Tony was caught super off-guard, a piece of pizza still half-way in his mouth when Spider-Man swung away.

Peter landed on the side of Avengers Tower at about 7 at night, staring directly at Natasha Romanoff, who had been looking out at the city. She was very mildly caught off-guard, but she made no outward expression of it. Tony came flying behind him, grumbling about toe fungus and warts as he commanded Jarvis to open a window. Peter backflipped off the window, webbing just above the opened window and slingshotting into the building, hitting the floor with a well-timed roll. "Hey Hulk! I hope you're ready for a trim!" Even with his mask up over his mouth and nose, a smile could be heard through his voice.

Peter then turned to face the gathered Avengers...
