Spider Gwen & The Recluse Assassin

In a reality without Peter Parker, seventeen year old Gwen Stacy attends to Midtown High, a school located in the Queens of New York, with her new neighbor Jack Baker who moved in last summer. Jack was born at the end of August in the year 2002. He had a knack for drawing, painting and even photography. However what he was even better at doing was using guns, knives and various other items of the same nature. Despite these hobbies and capabilities, he is socially awkward and often left out. He has a cool and aloof exterior and doesn't let many people in. He doesn't appear to be capable of expressing grand excitement or extreme enthusiasm. While he is bullied by Eugene "Flash" Thompson, most of his friends are females. They tend to flock to him, simply to talk because they know he'll listen and if asked, he will give advice. Fans of Harry Potter often call him the Chamber of Secrets and sometimes a mood ring as he can tell how others are feeling. After Gwen Stacy is bitten by a Radioactive Spider... He begins to notice her sudden change in behavior, and things get a bit weird when her hands get awkwardly stuck to his face.

The three worst sounds to hear, or feel, on a Monday morning in New York City is a rocketing KPOW, followed by an airy WOOSH and a hard earned SLAP. That was the morning Jack found out he was not the only spider in town.

Laying flat on his back in the middle of the Mathematics Hallway of Midtown High, his satchel open and its former occupants displayed across the waxed tile floor, he stared up at the blue hues gazing back down at him.

This girl had been hanging around him since the minute he moved into the house next door. He had no family except for himself, and some random people who come by every now and then. She was also seemingly the only person other than Mary Jane who managed to make him laugh.

Her father always invited him over for dinner too, calling him 'Jacky Boy' which ultimately annoyed him to no end. Of course, because of his temperament, he pretended to be agreeable and went along with it.

Much to the cringe of other girls who had their interests on him, she was always at his side.

This of course, didn't get passed Eugene "Flash" Thompson either. It only made his day to day life in this high school a living hell. Though it was mostly his choice to allow this to persist. He wanted others to see him as physically incompetent and aloof. That way, no one would rely on him to do any tasks but listen and strangely enough give heartfelt advice that contradicts his cool behavior.

Jack had short raven black hair, dark hazel eyes which change colors from brown to forest green, depending on what he was wearing. He stood at six foot two inches tall, and he had an subtle slender-athletic build.

Yet as he felt these two dainty hands were firmly planted on either side of his face and her lips just centimeters from his own. He couldn't help but squirm beneath the girl, but as he moved so did she.

Her left leg was wedged between his, more specifically, her knee.

"...Uuuh... Gwen?" The late bell was ringing for the next class as the introverted Jack Baker's voice faded into reality after a long pause of silence.

Jack's brown eyes narrowed on her, the girl who was resting on top of him, looming over him. He could hear her swallow hard, she wasn't calm. Based on her breathing and her heart rate, she was freaking out internally.

His eyes traveled to the side, observing the hand stuck to the left side of his face. The locks from the right side of her head were stuck between her hand and his cheek.

"There's something wrong with me..." She muttered quietly, lightly tugging on his face, trying to rapidly pull at her hand trying to take it from the right side of his face. Instead his cheek just moved with it, making a somewhat fleshy moist sound in the process. "I keep getting stuck to everything I touch."

"If... If you're not careful you might..." Jack nervously shuffled beneath her, "Rip out your hair..."

Though he seemed nervous, Gwen let out a soft giggle, "Now's not the time to be joking arou--" As she felt his hand wrap around her wrist, she blinked.

RRRRRRRIP!

Without any warning at all, before she could even finish a word she was saying, Jack had pulled her right hand from the left side of his face. Her hair and small slivers of his skin were torn off.

"Aah!" She gasped in pain, her other hand coming off his face in the process. "Ow!" She looked at the handful containing locks of her hair and skin now laying on the floor beside his head. Blood coming from shallow tears in his cheek. She blinked several times down at him, "Why would you do that?!"

She shook the hair from her hand and quickly leaned down, frantically checking the side of his face. She was the type to worry more about others than herself.

Yet as soon as the bleeding had begun, it stopped, and already began to heal.

"...It's just a flesh wound..." The high school assassin cooly spoke in a muted and superficially shaky tone. His now deadpan eyes just watching her.

Sure there was pain, but he had worse. Thanks to AIM, he was trained at an assassin from a young age, and given this powers in excruciatingly painful mutation-based experiments. the pain at this very moment was nothing compared to that.

She was hardly paying attention to her own pain, ignoring the words that had left his mouth. "We should get you to the nurse before it gets infected!"

Jack just stared at her as she was now partially straddling over him in a petite white dress shirt and tie, and off-black cotton made school vest, a thigh length blue pleaded skirt with a pair of black leggings and baby blue vans on her feet.

"...You're no longer stuck."

Blinking several times, she looked at him and then at her hands as she partially sat up on his lap. "You're right," she opened and closed her hands, they began lightly sticking to her palm. "Mmm..."

"...Try calming down..."

Her blue eyes met with his brown orbs again, "How do you know how this works?" A light tingling sensation came to her attention from the back of her head. It was as if it was pointing at him as the source. "Are... Are you just like me?"

"...No... just something like you..." Jack sat up as he briefly checked the side of her head to make sure none of her hair follicles or scalp were damaged.

Luckily, she didn't have any damage to her scalp or roots of her hair. Her hair had literally been torn, and thanks to their being a fade under that layered bob cut she often wore, it fit perfectly for a rebel.

Gwen's face turned a bit red when he was now close to her face as he was checking for damages. "Y-you usually don't get this close to people."

Jack's eyes flickered to her face, "You... Usually don't... Stutter..."

She closed her eyes partially when he that pointed out, "Okay Wonder boy, lets get to class, after we get a hall pass from the nurse." She gave his hand a light few slaps with her hand before it suddenly stuck to him again. "Eh?! Seriously!? Jaaack, how do I control this?"

Jack just stared at her hand as it was attached to his, then looked back up at her.

"This is new." Flash Thompson made his appearance with his hands in his pockets, his red and white jock jacket on his back. "Didn't think you had it in you, can't believe you're making moves on my Gwen!"

"I'm not yours Flash!" Gwen snapped almost immediately in her own defense.

Jack said nothing as he reached over wit his free hand to begin collect his books.

Inspecting the scene, Flash noticed that it was Jack's things which were spread all over the hallway. That, and the way she was positioned over Jack, he was almost sure she had fallen into him or tackled him to the ground. He raised a brow slightly and looked to Gwen. No matter how many times he tackled or punched Jack, he had never put him on his back before.

Scratching the back of his head, he made a goofy grin. "So... How'd you knock him over anyway? I've been trying to knock him over since day one!"

Jack just shifted his gaze over to the bully who usually physically or verbally assaulted him, and ultimately failed to inflict any memorable damage. "I... Let her..."

Both Gwen and Flash both looked at him when he budded into the middle of this conversation.

Flash though lifted his foot to kick Jack in the side, "I wasn't talking to you! Was I!?"

Gwen went to block it, but Jack was faster. He grabbed the shoe which was about to hit him in his side, reaching his arm under the other to do so.

Flash blinked several times when he couldn't move his foot at all! He stared at Jack who was hardly even looking at him. He tried tugging his foot away, but almost fell down in the process. "Oh come on! Let go!"

Gwen raised a brow at this, watching as the school jock was having a hard time pulling free.

"...If you say so..." Jack would shove his foot back at him, sending the bully onto his back a few feet away, sliding along the waxed tile floor.

The way he landed, he didn't get hurt physically, but his pride was definitely torn! How was this kid so strong!? He had been weak since his start here... Incompetent... Was it all an act?! Lifting his head from the ground, his eyes focused fiercely unto the back of Jack's head.

"I'll remember this Baker!" He pointed at the young man, as he began to pull himself back together before running down the hall. His voice had squeaked, which was even more embarrassing.

Jack simply blinked at this, but didn't turn to watch him go.

"A spectacle as always," Gwen seemed to smile a bit seeing Jack finally defend himself. Though she pretty much found that he had been hiding this the entire time, she was sure he had a reason, so she didn't bother with it. At least not for now.

Taking in a deep breath, she was able to remove her hand from Jack's and giggled quietly in victory. "Hazaah~"

"...Oh no... It's Magic Gwen..."

"Hey! I'm the one who is supposed to make the jokes," She'd begin to stand up, taking him by the wrist and helping him to his feet along with her. "But I do believe I have magical hands!"

Jack managed to titter at her joke as he loomed over her once he was on his feet. he was so much taller than her, being about six feet two inches tall. Not that it mattered, as she was capable of lifting him as well with extreme ease now.

With no one to see, he turned around and flicked his wrist towards the items sprawled out across the hall. More than a dozen little dark silky webs came out and stuck to the items before retracting before releasing. He pulled all of those books and papers to one side of the hall, awkwardly sorted.

"Whoa, you got my hands beat ten fold... Think you can teach me that, wise guy?" She had this smug teasing expression on her face, a dimple on one side of her face as she had a smile tugged to one side.

Looking over at her briefly with a brow raised, he shrugged and shook his hand as if saying 'maybe' before collecting his things and stuffing them into the satchel.

When he stood straight after picking his things up and swinging the strap over over his shoulder and diagonally over his torso. He made his way over to her as she was leaning against the lockers waiting.

"...I think we should leave for day," Jack uttered as he scratched at the rips in his skin on his cheek. They had already healed about halfway now. It had only been a few minutes.

"I have perfect attendance," After a brief pause, she looked down the hall, "Or at least I used to."

Shrugging, he knew she was the responsible type. The question was though, what would she take responsibility for? Damaging his face, escorting him home, or getting to class?

Watching as her hand touched the side of her head, she furrowed her brows. "It would probably be best if we went home so I can fix my hair." She went over to her locker which was only two away from his and retrieved her books for the day.

Thankfully the classes here, which gave homework and at home projects on Tuesdays and had them turn the assignments in the following Tuesday. They were essentially generalized community college courses in High School. True prep.

The two of them would make their way down the hall, "Lets go home... You any good with hair?"

Jack looked her over for a moment and shrugged without a word.

She squinted at him because of his response. "That was a probably... Right?"

Jack shrugged again and made an unapologetic smile. "...I like the hairdo..."

"Thanks, I got it done at Jacks' Hair Studio." Gwen was quick to quip in return.

"Pffft!" Jack covered his mouth and looked away, trying not to laugh out loud as they made for the side exit of the school that didn't have a working camera. Mostly because he broke it everyday they replaced it without being seen by anyone. Plus, they only check the cameras once a month unless given cause... The faculty was pretty lax.

As the school was surrounded on all sides by a wall, there were few ways out. That however wasn't a problem for Jack, and it was a learning curve for Gwen.

It was time to climb a wall.
