Second to Seventh Entry

• Second entry;

Die, die, die, is your morals that worth it, father. Why can't I seek revenge? Today, as if going around in circles, my life is back to one far worse than the academy. I'm currently writing this entry whilst being held prisoner. Sitting on the cold stone floor and using my rocky bed as a table; I can escape reality. I'll make a correction here – I'm not being held captive; the door isn't locked. Despite that, I dare not venture out, I'm not a fool to willingly stick my head into the lion's den. I've met someone very annoying today. Paien Kenworth, the one in charge of the outpost I've been sent too. The first instant she gazed at me; I was ordered to be put onto the frontlines for not speaking. My fear got the better of me – her hatred for our kind was more than palpable.

Quick note, I do sometimes write in an old fashion way. This is because back at the academy, one of my favorite past times was to stay out at night prowling the old storage rooms and garbage diving. There; in a forbidden area with the night as my shield, I discovered a pile of old books dating to the year MMIX. From there on, I read and learned about how the world used to be peaceful. I got away doing it for one and a half years until they were burnt as fuel; my heart shattered. I didn't have any real attachments, but my only way of escaping my fate turned to ash.

Enough reminiscing, today, thinking I was going to be set free as I turned eighteen got me mildly excited. Sadly, I've now learned to never expect anything to come out in my favor. I just wanted to let loose and hide. Apart from that, the world in this era is as I told earlier; nothing has changed. From what I've gathered here and there as information is rather scarce, we are in the middle of a war. The general populous, I included, knew nothing of it till recently when I managed to connect all the pieces. Going into details about how I procured said information will only serve to waste time.

Remember when that lady ordered me to be put into the frontline; that was where it clicked. The guard whose name remains another mystery, felt anxious when the bus stopped. It made sense; this was his first time inside the command center where battle orders were given. Being so far out in a deserted area made it efficient for stopping unwanted information from spreading. My time at the academy proved to not be a complete waste of time; I wish I could go into more detail but time is running short. I can hear someone approaching, I hope to see another day.

• Third entry;

My journey today took me onto a battlefield. I interrupted my previous entry in fear of being discovered. Footsteps, one powerful while the other was light and of a faster pace. The terror of getting my precious notebook stolen forced me to move without making a sound; almost cat-like. I went to bed with the notebook pressed against my chest.

Today sure was eventful, it's too much to put into words - I killed… For the first time, I shot and killed a living and breathing human. My stomach turned; their heads exploded when my bullet made contact. My mind is messed up, not even writing can soothe the bloodlust. Despite being guilty; I want to kill. The first shot I took was like unlocking a part of me that wasn't meant to be. I hope… I hope to not go through that again.

Who am I kidding, I'm a soldier. That sly commander sent me to the frontline in hopes of getting my karma band to the negative zone. Killing a person normally results in one getting minus points yet mine displays zero. The people I killed were the remnants of the resistance.

• Fourth entry;

I feel like my life is going to gain speed. From today forth; anyone reading this, I hope that you excuse my rudeness–my entries are going to become less dense and less frequent. It's but a guess, however, I hope it doesn't come to that. Right now, I'm back in the cell they call my room. Paine's attitude when she saw me earlier was weird. She patted me on the back. I'm a boy – I thought they hated me. . . Questions aside, I've been told that someone has hired me to become a bodyguard, by name. Imagine my surprise when this news hit – who in the right mind would remember my name, 13203.

• Fifth entry;

The guard fell asleep. To be honest with you, I don't know why I'm acting like a convict. My cell is wide open for the love of god. Oh – how I wish I had the courage to fully close that door left ajar. The wind which seeps through vexes me perpetually. Add to the fact that tomorrow my life is going to change for the better – I hope, I can't sleep. I best get going, for now.

• Sixth entry;

A new dawn arises, my torturous night plagued by the faceless screams of people dying ended. I was handed a letter personally by Paien during morning training. It recounted in detail the nature of my new assignment. Something I won't go into much detail as time is lacking. Honestly, this notebook has become a sort of drug. Every time my pen glides across its pages, it's only then that the faces I've shot mercilessly go to rest.

• Seventh entry;

THIS CAN'T BE REAL. I met up with my new employees. It was a real surprise when I entered the car. A faint voice reached out from beside me; one of a girl. As you already know, I'm very bad when it comes to the opposite sex. Hearing that feminine tone, my brain went into panic mode, my stare instantly befell the floor. It was then that I noticed it; a rose. Sown on her left shoe, the same one sown on my notebook. At last, she introduced herself as Garnet Valentine. This very moment, with hand's shaking at the mere thought of her is uncomfortable. My words, usually written in nice penmanship has turned to gibberish.

I can faintly hear her breathing – a bit creepy on my part but she seems pleased with me using the gift.
