Merchant

A few days had already passed since he started his journey towards the capital. Until now, there had been no problems. He would train every morning, before he would start running again, towards the capital, and because of all this running, his endurance stat had gone from 9 -> 10.

Today was a little different, since as he was running, he moved by a small caravan. It was a very basic caravan, with nothing special about it. It had a wooden platform with wooden wheels, and the different goods in it, was protected by a circular tent on top.

As Adrian could see goods in the back of the caravan, he could guess this was a small group of merchants.

As he got closer to them, he could see that it was not only a caravan, but there were a few men on horses in front of them. The men on the horses didn't look any special, but they did have sword hanging from their waists, which would mean that they were probably the guards of the caravan.

The man that was controlling the caravan, was a middle-aged man, with a bright look in his eyes. If you only saw his eyes, you would have never guessed that he was a middle-aged man, other than that, he had nothing else noteworthy.

As he was passing the caravan, he heard a voice behind him. "Oh wow kid, you're fast!" It was the old man controlling the caravan speaking. As the old man saw the spear on his back, he couldn't help but ask "Are you perhaps a traveling warrior?"

Adrian looked up at the middle-aged man, Adrian showed a cold exterior "Yeah!" He just gave the man a short answer.

As the old man saw his cold look, he got a little surprised "Not a man of words, are we? My name is Brotus, and I am a small merchant!" The merchant said, while still looking at Adrian "May I have the honor of knowing a young warrior like you?"

Brotus didn't know why, but he thought that this young man was very strong. He did not look strong, but he had a felling that if he didn't get to know this young man, he would lose out.

"My name is Adrian" Adrian looked at Brotus, still having quite the cold face.

After training with Sandro for a year. Adrian had grown much more mature through the training and lessons. He got to know how cruel the world is, and how he should never trust anyone, but if he ever start to trust anyone, he should treat them well.

"Oh Adrian then, would you like to earn a bit of coin?" As Brotus heard that name, he tried to think of any rumors that might have any stories about him. As far as Brotus could remember, he had never heard of this name before.

Adrian misunderstood this straight away, as Brotus trying to scam him. "I wont fall for a scam" He said it out loud.

"Haha, kid, good one! I am not trying to scam you, I am trying to hire you" Brotus said, while thinking this kid is quite cautious, but still stupid enough to say his thoughts out loud. "I am going to a small village a day away from here, I will give you 1 cold coin for your help!"

Adrian looked at Brotus shocked, that was a lot of money. He had never seen a cold coin before, the highest he ever saw, was a silver coin. This coin was used to buy food for the whole orphanage. As far as Adrian knew 100 bronze coins was one silver, 100 silver coins was one gold, 1 bronze coin, was enough to buy bread for a family.

Adrian was about to say something, when one of the guards suddenly came over an interjected "What are you thinking old man?! Why would you hire someone else, you already have us!" He was quite annoyed.

"hahahaha" Brotus just laughed "An extra warrior, means extra safety" He said this, but what he was really thinking was 'I don't trust you 2, and it seems like this young man might be able to help me'.

The man on the horse just gave a small snort, before he went back to his comrade.

"Okay merchant, I will take the job" Adrian still showed the cold exterior, but inside, he was very excited. He finally had his first job, and if he was lucky, he might be able to fight someone.

After a while of walking, Adrian was getting quite curious about what the merchant was selling, since he was ready to offer 1 cold coin to him. "Merchant, what is it you are selling?" He did not sound very courteous, he didn't try to either.

"Oh, nothing special!" Brotus didn't give him an answer, which just made Adrian even more curious. But he knew his manners, and would not pry, if he wouldn't tell.

A little further ahead, the two horsemen were talking to each other.

"What do we do now, this kid could ruin our plans?" One of the horsemen said to the other.

"He does not look like anything special, we will just have to kill him when the time comes!"

The horsemen that came over to talk to Brotus and Adrian before, was not that worried about Adrian. He had quite a lot of confidence in himself. They just didn't know, that Adrian was a battle and training freak, his stats are way above what they should be. His body also looked quite plane in the clothes he was wearing.
