Chapter 4: First Mission

After spending the next few hours reviewing his special report on himself and his suit, he had a serious mixed case of excitement, confusion and a bit of anger.

Anger for basically being a test tube baby which put a damper on his humanity, it was a hard pill to swallow to know you had no parents in this world or even the universe your body originated from. The only thing that allowed him to maintain his anger, or lessened it to a degree, was his previous life. Thankfully he at least still had memories of a family rather than being a one track minded soldier and weapon.

Confusion came from his DNA, while he was mostly an ancient human, to a degree he was also not. He had Covenant and Forerunner DNA as well, which gave him various inhuman traits such as bone and muscle density, increased intelligence and reflexes.

Then adding the advanced SPARTAN augments on top of his already superhuman abilities, it was no wonder it took so many clones to perfectly augment the body.

That's where the excitement stemmed from, after the full SPARTAN augments were completed he was very close to being kryptonian. Minus the powered by the sun, eye and breath powers he basically had the rest. A bio-electric field which allowed flight and shielding, x-ray and other visual spectrums such as telescopic and microscopic vision. Although he didn't share the same strength as Superman, obviously he wouldn't be able to move a planet but a few million tons with his armor on wouldn't be an issue.

His speed, reflexes and mental processing abilities were similar to Quicksilver while wearing his suit while without it he was similar to Spiderman. He could still perceive a bullet travelling enough to dodge and react but was limited to his own perceptions. His suit had additional sensors which extended and expanded his perception, allowing him to process more data directly thus increasing his reaction speed.

So for the remainder of the time Adam decided to practice manipulation of his bio-electric field, he knew it had many more uses than flight and shielding. It could give telekinetic like abilities as well as a form of telepathy, able to read surface thoughts and emotions. Magnetic and electricity control. There was so much more he was surprised the scientists didn't think about it deeper, flight and shielding was the most basic.

It wasn't long until he began receiving the various reports, which he diligently read and planned accordingly. He tasked Eve to issue out updated orders according to the reports and began studying the multiple HYDRA supply depots around the globe. After reviewing the terrain and defensive capabilities of each base, Adam chose five of the easiest larger supply bases available.

The Albatross troop carrier could load plenty of supplies, so he decided to issue the command for a total of six Albatross ships to be prepared rather than one. One ship per base and the final ship was their transport back to Infinity.

The Albatross was a large transport ship which allowed 45-50 soldiers and several ground vehicles, it also had a few service packs that could be interchanged which made it a perfect infiltration troop transport ship. Although not as good as a Pelican class transport, the Albatross was larger and could travel in space while the Pelican had to be deployed in the upper atmosphere of the planet at the very least.

That was not something Adam planned to do anytime soon, the Infinity would easily be seen without the need of a telescope due to its size, as soon as it neared the moon it could be seen with the naked eye from the Earths surface.

The Albatross could easily navigate space between Saturn and Earth, though the trip would take several hours there and a little longer on the way back since they would be fully loaded.

Once Adam finished strategizing his load outs for the ships and completing a simulation battle arena for all five bases he resumed his practice on controlling and manipulating his bio-electric field.

Time passed quickly and his mission briefing appointment was ready to begin. After reviewing the mission details such as the number of enemy combatants at each location and what defenses each installation had, he had the team meet in the training facility aboard the Infinity.

Eve then loaded the simulations created by Adam using real time scans of each facility. This allowed the team to practice attacking and breaching each base, they were able to study the terrain as well as the floor layout of each facility before actually doing it in real life.

After a few hours inside the holodeck training ground the team was able to perfectly attack each base, they knew the blindspots and best hiding locations as if they had been stationed there for months. Seeing the team was ready he decided to go ahead and move out an hour ahead of schedule. They still had several hours till they arrived so he knew the team would get adequate rest before the battle.

Giving the team an hour to finalize anything they needed before they deployed, he used this time to evenly distribute the weight of the ground vehicles and team members to even out the speed of all six ships. If he loaded them all into one the single ship would slow down the rest.

After successfully distributing the personnel amongst the transport ships, Adam made his way down to the hanger where they would depart from. Upon reaching the hanger Adam was able to witness his crew in action. The hanger was a buzz with activity, mining ships were off loading their hauls to then return to mine more. The materials were weighted and labeled for storage or to various other departments that were in need of such material.

Adam watched as the teams worked together, like a well oiled machine, a true testament to the discipline and training every UNSC soldier had. Even when all seemed lost, no connection to their loved ones or friends from their universe, none of the crew let it get them down. They knew they were no longer within their own time since Adam held nothing back on information for now, but they knew as long as they were alive there would always be a chance to return home. So they did what they were trained to do, fight for survival.

Thankfully Infinity was equipped with multiple entertainment venues so this did allow the crew a semblance of home, giving them enough distractions off duty to remain focused during their on duty time. Even though the ship only contained a quarter of the total maximum capacity, the Infinity was self-sustainable for the most part. Although UNSC had stripped most Smart AI's from its ships after Cortana went rogue and replaced them with simple Dumb AIs, the ship could be successfully operated and even fight efficiently with a few hundred crew members.

With Eve, who was on par with Cortana in every way, now integrated within the ship, it only needed one to command the ship and fleet. Adam wasn't worried about Eve going rogue like Cortana because although they were similar, Cortana was originally a clone of a human brain. Doctor Christin Halsey had uploaded a neural copy of her brain to create Cortana, Eve is a program thru and thru. A copy of 'The Weapon' AI that was given to Master Chief.

Soon the transport ships were loaded with the vehicles and each team member, being fully armed piled into their assigned ships. Mining ships were re-routed temporarily to allow a smooth departure for Adam and his team. After leaving the hanger bay force field that allowed the hanger bays to open without killing any crew within the hanger, the six Albatross ships activated their stealth protocols, a holographic array lit up all around the outside of the ships. This gave them visual camouflage as well as sensor invisibility.

While this technology was easily seen thru within the Halo universe, Adam knew that with Earth's current capabilities, the chances of being detected were slim to none. Even if they were currently looking for them or watching for them they wouldn't be able to detect them outside of Earth's atmosphere. Within the atmosphere was a different story, Earth has more satellites pointing down than it does up.

This was the reason for the six ships, multiple strikes within a short period of time. By the time they were aware of them and mobilized troops to respond, they would be long gone. Either at the next base or heading off the planet, this was also the reason he planned night raids. The ships would be harder to detect at night by satellites, he could jam them but that in itself would be a dead giveaway of their presence.

Putting the travel time to the planet Earth to use, Adam focused on training his bio-electric field to gain as much mastery over it as possible. Its application in battles would add so many possibilities, Adam felt it was the most important ability he had at his disposal currently. A well timed force push or pull can spell disaster for any opponent.

It took just under six hours to enter into Earth's atmosphere, in this time Adam had made great headway in manipulation of his bio-electric field. Although he could only lift a few hundred pounds easily with his field, it was a start. Also this just added a trump card to his repertoire of attacks. His thoughts also led to his redesign of one of his favorite weapons.

After the six transport ships landed and unloaded their passengers, four of the ships took off towards the other bases scheduled for attack, while two stayed with Adam and the team. One for the supplies and the other to transport the team to the next base quickly. Each Albatross was equipped with two Mark 2 exoskeletons for the two crew members that assisted the pilot, this would allow the two crew members to quickly load the ships with any supplies no matter the weight with ease while the others assaulted the base.

After covertly approaching a HYDRA base in Russia, Adam used his helm visor to help map out enemy forces and sent them to the wrist terminals used by standard soldiers. Using his x-ray and thermal vision to get real time locations on patrols and stationary defensive areas, after finding the important supply rooms and the weak point in the base the team coordinated their approach as well as their route thru the base.

The base was a large airstrip located deep within the Siberian forest, With multiple hangers and a large communication tower that was attached to a three story tall building. Thankfully most of the supplies he was after were on the first floor close to the airstrip, but what concerned Adam was the server room.

It was located on the second floor basement, and there were close to two thousand troops stationed here. If they just went after the supplies they could be in and out before they could fully mobilize a defense.

"Eve, can you wirelessly connect to the server? Or do I need to get directly into the server for you to grab the files?" Adam tried to think of a solution without having to go into a deathtrap. Basements have limited entry and exit points, so tactically speaking a basement was the most dangerous.

"Negative, however as long as you locate a terminal that is connected to the facilities intranet I should have no issues retrieving the data, though it will take a few minutes longer than if it was input at the source itself."

Hearing Eve respond favorably, although it wasn't exactly what he wanted, it was still manageable. There were plenty of computers on the first floor, he just had to hold the position a little longer than he had hoped. It still beats having to make his way down into the basement then back up again.

Updating his assault team with the new route and positions of each team, they moved into position.

Once the snipers were in place the heavy gunners and infantry loaded onto the Mammoth and Warthogs while Adam remained outside, he would be able to easily run just as fast as the two vehicles and was armored and shielded thanks to his suit.

The two Warthogs, which basically looked like a dune-buggy allowing it multi-terrain and all weather versatility while being able to perform multiple roles with multiple loadouts available to choose from. One Warthog was outfitted with the M68 Gauss Cannon and the other with the M39 Rocket Turret. This would provide the necessary punching power to bring down even the most stubborn of walls with ease without the need for resupply, both loadouts also wouldn't sacrifice accuracy for power.

Both weapons were extremely accurate and specially designed against infantry, armored vehicles and structures. They both had a decent rate of fire and the Warthog could carry enough rounds onboard to assault each base without having to conserve ammo. In fact many on the team felt sorry for the last base they would hit, their orders were to expend every bit of ammo on the last base so that the weight of the vehicles would be reduced to the minimal amount possible.

Seeing all team members in position and ready to move, Adam gave the order to attack. The Mammoth engine roared to life accelerating the large heavily armored six wheel troop transport into ramming speed. Adam fell in directly behind the large vehicle while the Warthogs followed in line behind Adam.

'Now to get real life experience of just what this body can do.' Adam thought to himself as he ran behind the lead vehicle while his suit released a black liquid from his hand that quickly created a custom MA3 Assault Rifle. "Let the fun begin boys, let's show these bumpkins what real soldiers can do! Hoorah!"

Each soldier replied back with their own "Hoorah!"
