My Best Friends

Throughout my life, I've constantly been moving from one place to another. Whether that's to a different country, or just a different city, I've learned one important thing from moving. How to make friends. After switching to so many different schools, I had developed a bright personality that I used every time I switched to a new school. This meant that I have always had plenty of friends, friends that I thought would be by my side forever.

đ˜‰đ˜»đ˜»đ˜»đ˜”. My phone sounded.

"Hey Sparrow, when are you getting here? Sadi and I are already at Chipotle." - Katrina.

"Coming soon. Be there in 5." - Sparrow.

I had planned to hang out with two of my closest friends, Katrina and Sadi today. It was the summer before our freshman year of high school, and we were so excited. I wore Lululemon leggings with a yellow-striped crop top that barely covered my midriff, and a pair of checkered Vans. Classic basic girl outfit.

I got out of my car and saw my friends waiting in front of the Chipotle. Sadi waved to me while Katrina eyed me up and down.

"Ooh fashionable today, are we?" Katrina commented, "who're you trying to impress?"

"Um no one?" I glared at her. I hated it when Katrina made comments about my appearance. If she wasn't criticizing me she would be patronizing me like she was today.

The rest of the day passed quickly. We ended up walking to so many different places. After a few hours of walking we were utterly exhausted and decided to call it a day.

Whew. I wasn't sure why, but I was always so anxious to hangout with Sadie and Katrina. Actually, more like just Katrina. She was pretty, outgoing, and got a lot of attention from boys. Her hair was long and dark with natural brown highlights, and had a thin figure. She was also extremely athletic, and an amazing running. Heck, she was even somewhat popular. Sadie on the other hand, was quite the opposite of Katrina. She was pretty, yes, with smooth milk chocolatey skin, straight, long, dark hair, and big brown eyes. Her personality; however, was quiet and reserved, and she always followed Katrina. They were best friends.

Me? Well I was kind of the third wheel. While Katrina and Sadie had known each other since elementary school, I joined their group at the beginning of 6th grade. And let's just say the middle school was not kind to me. I had thick, frizzy dark hair that was neither straight nor wavy, and a hideous smile complete with braces. My sense of fashion was leggings with a hoodie, and I would re-wear the same outfit multiple times throughout the week. Until now.

Now that I was a rising freshman, I was determined to change myself. I had gotten my hair straightened, and cut bangs. My braces were removed, and I finally had a normal smile. I cleared out my closet and bought new trendy clothes for the year. Still, some things hadn't changed. My limbs stuck out awkwardly and my pale skin wasn't doing me any favors. But I can only change so much, so I decided to accept myself the way I was then.

If you can't tell already, Sparrow is me and this is my life. The person in the book cover is also me right now. Of course my real name isn't Sparrow, and my life isn't that exciting, but there's a lot to unload before I get to the drama bits haha. Please be patient and give me a bit of time, this is my first time writing so much.
