I sat at the bar of the Icebox, looking out at the dancing masses packed tight in against one another dancing the night away with my mind on one person, one woman.
A woman I had never expected to run across again.
A woman who I hadn't even thought was alive anymore.
BB had been quiet for a while, too. I imagined the AI was probably having trouble dealing with both my emotions and whatever its synthetic brain had as an equivalent.
I downed a shot and grimaced at the harsh taste of the alcohol. I had no idea what I was downing, but it was damn hard and that was exactly what I needed.
"Too many more of those and you won't be able to walk straight," Tessa said, sitting down next to me.
I glanced down at the empty cup and shrugged, "Maybe I don't want to be able to walk straight. For a little while, anyway."
