SPACE COLONIST: in the oceanic world ARK

#Synopsis: ------------------------------------------------------ In the far future the planet earth is full, and thanks to 3 key technologies, genetic manipulation, cryosleep, and advanced space engines, humanity builds deep space spaceships and launch themselves to the unknown confines of space to forge a new future away from home. Follow our young engineer Erik as he starts on his first job at the young age of 60 years old in future earth where humans will live hundreds of years, he will reach an unknown place with his spaceship by accident and to survive he will have no choice but to explore alien structures and hunt dangerous monsters to get stronger, making alliances with the locals in more than friendly terms sometimes. ------------------------------------------------------ The protagonist is a young 60 years old "young" engineer, he's easy-going and a good guy, he's been trained so he will know what he's doing most of the time, in "Chapter 1 - A New Beginning" he will explain more, as a human from the future where bodies are just flesh containers, he's fairly openminded (kinda like "Altered Carbon" from Netflix, but different, you can go one day to a genetic center, pay, and get inside a liquid tank and then, the next time you open your eyes your body has already changed, then you get your ticket and go home just like that, but combat modifications would be regulated). ------------------------------------------------------ Hi, NirvanaPenguin here, suggestions on the story are welcome, this is a book I'm gonna write for fun and to get better at writing in preparation for a story I will start next year. ------------------------------------------------------ Discord: https://discord.gg/WPM7a4Dp4J Reddit: www.reddit.com/user/NirvanaPenguin/ Twitter: @NirvanaPenguin Post a review if you liked the book to help me get exposure, thanks. The book cover was drawn by myself(not the background though), I will try to make or pay someone to make a cooler one in the future though. ------- Spoiler?: Inspiration for the octopeople. - Asari from Mass Effect. - sea horses. - subnautica all beings reproduce that way.

Chapter 61 - Know Your Enemy

Back at the surface he took the crabman to the outside lab and chained it tightly to a table while feeding it more poison. After a scan, he found out its shell was in fact made of a naturally excreted rock, its eyes were covered in a membrane and its mouth was like a turtles beak but with also teeth inside, the brain was also severely underdeveloped compared to the octopeople or Crabina, just barely the size of a chimpanzees brain, as for its limbs it had 6 powerful lower legs, 2 big pincer arms, and 2 other smaller arms.

He then took the algae to the lab, freezing small parts to grow them if needed, and scanned a small sample from both, the purple algae seemed to contain high amounts of sugar and even starches, but also addictives similar to nicotine, 'that explains why Crabina couldn't stop eating them' Erik thought to himself.

Erik: [do you know these algae Rose?]

[No, they aren't on my database (-_-;) ]

Erik was surprised but also excited at the discovery. He called Crabina and scanned her, detecting algae spores on her digestive system, it seemed the algae let itself be eaten and then its spores dispersed in the excrement, when you eat it then its spores accumulate in your digestive system and cover your poop for some time, dispersing its spores far.

He then cooked an algae piece on a lab torch and extracted the sugars, destroying the additives in the process and making it harmless, 'it will be nice to cover meat before baking it in the oven, a good sweet touch, can't wait' he thought.

Then he analyzed the bioluminescent algae but other than glowing and absorbing minerals in the water they didn't have anything special, so he put them in aquariums in the new lab but they wilted quickly due to the cold water, so he put them in small aquariums inside the base and the octopeople city as a cool light source.

He then went to the outside lab. The chained down crab man was inside the dry part of the lab, it was having difficulty breathing air, but it still kept looking at Erik with its remaining eye and salivating, if not for the heavy restraints it would just try to devour them all.

Erik: "well beast, how are you feeling?"

"..."

Erik: "oh? not willing to talk?"

Crab: "I do not talk with prey, you prey, I eat!"

Erik: "that's alright, the hard way it is then"

He grabs the crab man's dick and then a knife.

Crab: "what are you... no... NO! I NEED THAT!"

Erik: "Yeah, I saw that you crab people like fucking a lot right?"

Crab: "yes, that need for reproducing, back at tribe still lots of breeding to do, its- AAAAARGH!!!"

Erik had cut the crabs dick slowly, and then took the cut off member and waved it in front of the crabman.

Erik: "ups~ seems like you won't do that anymore, are you still hungry?" Erik said with a wide grin.

Crab: "EAT YOU! I EAT YOU!!! I EAT YOU!!!!!"

Erik: "sigh, such a noisy subject, here drink this" he forced him to drink the concentrated Second Elder's aphrodisiac.

The crabman instantly started convulsing as its hips shot back and forth with its non-existent dick and seemed to be going crazy.

'Did it just try to hump the air?' Erik asked himself, barely holding back a self-satisfied smile. Either way, Erik wasn't about to stop at just that. He then injected a muscle numbing agent on the crab, also obtained from the octopeople so it could be said to be locally sourced, which earned a small chuckle from Erik as he prepared the next step.

He went to a nearby tool rack and took a diamond tip drill, starting to drill a hole into the chest of the crabman, the table it was chained to was also a scanner so he could see the insides of the crabman, and with that, the moment he needed to stop drilling.

The first step was a chip near its heart, then with another bigger hole, he installed a brain-to-machine interface chip in its brain. After that it was just a matter of connecting both devices, that way every time the crabman thought about harming him or the octopeople in any way, its heart would stop, 'but that's not enough insurance with these meatheads' he thought to himself, so he added chips on the limbs and 1 in the groin, all with the purpose of giving electrical discharges of even exploding if the crabman didn't listen to orders, the chip in its brain storing a list of the orders given to the crabman and making it follow them.

When the drug's effect passed, the crabman just howled in place for hours trying to fight the orders so Erik left it there, properly extra restrained.

As he was going back to base on the transport, Erik was thinking of a technology back on earth, if he managed to change the crabman brain by adding nanobots extensions or by surgery so it could hold a human mind he could then use an avatar piloting system, back on earth it was used to control prison grave offenders to participate in wargames, controlled by opposing special forces teams to train as they complained that Virtual Reality wasn't realistic enough if he applied that same technology here he should be able to infiltrate and prepare a proper attack plan, it was hard killing just 2 so if he recklessly charged in even with octopeople as reinforcement, there was a high probability of deaths occurring and he wanted to avoid that.

He had never used it or the body changer technologies either, but now it would help a lot. Left with no other choice he went back to his laptop to read the device's documentation, as that module had separated earlier from the spaceship and landed way South, probably destroyed against the sea surface as only the main body of the spaceship had just luckily made use of the bubble explosion to survive the impact.

Sitting by his computer and opening the documentation he could only sigh, wishing he had some coffee since it had been all destroyed by the crash and then salty water. Opening the first page he started reading the first of over a hundred pages of documentation and schemas.

--- a week later ---

After a week of intense internal torture, the crabman had become more docile and was already scared into submission with its primitive brain, it was really hungry but by now it didn't even dare to think about eating, it was like that being controller his thought, and that scared him a lot.

Meanwhile back at the base, Erik had finished reading and understanding all the documentation, chapters, and complicated diagrams, his eyes were bloodshot and he had bags under them, but he was smiling as with Rose to make the components, the technology was indeed feasible.

Erik: [Rose?]

[yes?~~ (・ิω・ิ)]

Erik: [ build this that I'm thinking about and also an injection needle ]

[nanobots to remake the crabmans brain? well that's interesting...]

Erik: [yeah, I can only understand it and have no way of making it, but with your help, I can make anything] he had a smug smile while saying it.

[wow, looking so proud about just telling others to make something ( ' - ' ) ]

Erik: [well... its... agh, just make it please]

[right away (・ิω・ิ)]

Erik thinking 'damn, I need a nap, she ruined my good mood, I will add the rest tomorrow, at least the chapters about the brain to machine interface and synapse auto reader were interesting'.
