Capital city

After a few days, we got to the capital, nothing happened during the trip but I did learn that Paul owned a successful store in the capital [it good to make connections in high places.] the voice said, I replied 'I guess you're right.'

As I thought that we got into view of the capital's walls. I looked up in amazement 'it has got to be at least thirty meters(100 feet) tall!' Paul looked at me with a smile. "First time?" I replied with my mouth still agape. "Damn right." When we finally got to the capital's gates, the wall looked even bigger. We got into the capital, "well we're here, hey kid don't forget to come to visit the shop sometime okay?" I nodded at him "you aren't a man of many words, anyway see you kid" as he said that I jumped off the wagon and he left.

[you know it might be a good idea to join the adventuring guild.] the voice said 'I was thinking the same thing, can't hurt to use our skills for money, right?' I decided to head to the guildhall to register but I didn't know my way around so, I flipped my hood up and went to a woman with brown hair walking around.

"excuse me" the woman looked back "how and I help you?" she said while smiling "could you tell me the way to the guildhall" she looked at me "aren't you kinda old to join?" "I'm only fifteen," I said weakly "oh I'm sorry it's just yo-you're so tall so I-I thought you were older" she stammered "it's fine can you just tell where it is?" I asked regaining my composter "better yet I can lead you there, I was going anyway" she said grabbing my wrist pulling me along, I wasn't expecting it so my hood fell off my head, my hair flowing in the wind.

After about five minutes we arrived in front of a building with a lot of noise coming out "here it is, let's go in" she said pulling me in.

We entered "there we're here." She said letting go of my wrist I thanked her "now can I register at one of those tills?" she smiled again "Wait here just a moment I work here I'll register you." she said running to a door near the tills, I sighed 'how can someone be so cheery all the time?'

Suddenly I started hearing her voice again, I looked around to no avail 'where is that coming from?' I asked myself [its enhanced hearing.] the voice replied 'you can do this? Seriously you need to tell me about this stuff.' the voice just grumbled.

I decided to listen to what the woman was saying so I took a seat at an open table, first I heard a voice I didn't recognise "Anna, who was that you pulled in here?" then I heard the girls voice "he's someone who wanted to join the guild so I lead him here" I thought for a moment 'so, her name is Anna huh?' then the other girl spoke "he's kinda gloomy though" I put my head on the table 'so, I'm gloomy huh?' then the voice spoke [well you did just lose everything basically.] I raised my head 'yea I guess you're right' then Anna spoke again "well we don't know what happened to him, maybe he lost someone close to him."

'she's so nice I could cry' I thought to myself wiping away a fake tear, then Anna walked out of the backroom in her work clothes, I wasn't much, it was a small frilly dress with the back exposed.

"Hey, you!" Anna yelled over to me while waving me over, I got up and walked over to her "so, can I register now?" I asked "yup, there will be a written and physical test to gauge your rank." She replied with a smile "great, can we start?" I responded, "yup, just pay the fee of five silvers and I can get you the test." Anna said, I froze, I didn't have any money let alone five silvers then, the voice spoke [put your hand in your pocket, I grabbed some money from the robed men.] 'You're a lifesaver.' I said to the voice while putting my hand in my pocket, five cold coins appeared, I took them out and handed them off to Anna "thank you." She said taking the coins "now, follow me I'll take you to where we do the written tests." I nodded and started to follow her upstairs and into a side room.

"This is where we do the written tests, they will come in a few minutes." As she said that she left the room and closed the door, I looked around the room, I saw three people.

One woman and two men, they all looked to be about my age, I nodded at them and they nodded back. I took a seat in the middle of the room, away from everyone else and put my jaw in my hand and closed my eyes.

A few minutes later someone else walked into the room, he was also my age, I paid no mind to him and closed my eyes once again then, I heard his walking get closer and closer then, he stopped right next to me, he pulled out the chair next to me and sat down.

'godammit.' I thought to myself, I opened my eyes to look at him, we locked eyes, he started introducing himself "names Jonna, nice to meet you" I looked at his open hand asking for a handshake "I don't do handshakes." I said while closing my eyes, as I did that the door opened again and two people came in, the first one was Anna with six papers and the other person was a female who was also around my age.

"woo, I almost missed the test." the girl said while gasping for air. Jonna spoke up "Leia! Over here." She looked over and walked up to where we were sitting and took a seat next to Jonna "who's that?" Leia asked Jonna while pointing at me, he responded "I don't know." Anna spoke up "now that everyone is here we will start the test." When she was done talking she handed out the tests.

The tests were pretty simple, just asking about if they were trained and if so by whom and so on, but on the name section I just put a code name, I didn't want there to be a chance I was mistaken for one of the robed men who attacked Serec. After the tests were finished we were taken to an arena to test our strength.

There were seats in a semi-circle and at the opposite side of the seats there was a door where the guild people would come out, we had been waiting quite a while so, I put my hood up and started to sleep, awhile later Anna walked out of the door opposite of us and spoke: "We apologise for the wait, we will now start the physical test." As she finished three people exited the door, "these are our instructors for today in order." She introduced them all, first was a very muscular human male named Max, he was the hand to hand instructor, next was a slender human woman and her name was Diane, she was the mage instructor, lastly, an elven woman was going by the name Swift, she was the archery instructor.

I thought to myself 'Swift, that's an interesting name' the voice replied [its most likely her code name.] I accepted that as truth and they started to call a name to test first, the first name that was called was an unfamiliar name, it was one of the three who got to the test room before me, the one who walked down had short brown hair and light build, his name was Jax.

He reached the arena stage and pulled out his sword and took a battle stance and so did Max, Anna shouted "Begin!" They took off, their swords clashing together creating sparks.

[this is boring compared to us] the voice said yawning, I responded 'yea well not all of us are age-old voices with countless years of training.' the voice snorted [yea, I guess you're right. Speaking of which, who will fight?] I thought for a moment 'we fight together, I art thou, thou art I, remember?' the voice just chuckled.

Before I realised it, the battles were over. Even though we all start at F-rank, they still measured our combat potential. Jax had combat potential of a C+ rank. The other boy, Andrew an archer, had combat potential of a C-rank and the girl, Maria a magician, had the combat potential of a B-rank, the other two, Jonna and Leia, had combat potential of D and D+ respectively, 'those first three are quite good' I thought to myself, to which the voice replied [they're most likely the children of nobles so they got better training.] I agreed with it then, Anna called out the last name on the list.

"Sovereign."
