Chapter Twenty

Peggy stood next to Lexie as the four groups all walked up to the nurse's station following their residents. The two watched Christina and Meredith whisper to one another in a panic before they are interrupted by the chief. "Apparently some people thought I was kidding last week when I announced that nobody was going to get to hang out on their favourite speciality anymore. I wasn't. Junior residents don't specialize. So all the requests to send you back to that place where your true heart lives can end now. Dr Bailey makes the assignments. Do not, and I repeat, do not harangue her."

Lexie and Peggy moved to stand near George as the chief walked away from him, "Hey. You passed." The brainiac throws her arms out nodding her head, "We're gonna go to joe's tonight and we're gonna celebrate. I'm gonna buy you a beer and all the peanuts you can eat."

George looks at her upset, "What if I didn't pass"

Peggy shakes her head, "Get that thought out of your head because you aren't going to."

Lexie leans closer smiling, "And if you don't, then I'm still buying you a beer. Beer for losers."

They then move to join the group as Bailey gives out assignments, "Grey, you're on cardio with Hahn today. Stevens and Karev pit."

The three people groan with Alex shaking his head, "Oh, come on."

Izzie leans forward annoyed, "That's not...The chief wants us to have a change. That's not a change. I'm always stuck in the pit with Alex."

Bailey raises her eyebrow annoyed, "When the chief said don't harangue Dr Bailey, what do you think he meant?" She looks back down at her clipboard, "Yang, clinic."

Christina starts to freak out, "What? What? No. No."

Izzie also becomes more upset, "No, No, Wait, Wait. The clinic is mine. I say how it's staffed. Yeah, yeah. She'll just ruin it."

Christina nods her head, "Yeah, I will. I'll-I'll ruin it. Peggy tell her."

The intern looks over nodding her head, "Yeah she'll destroy it and scare all the patients away."

Izzie points at the brunette, "See. Just let me do it."

Bailey becomes angry, "No, you will not. You will do what I say. And since Yang couldn't be bothered to show up at the clinic since it opened, think of it as a new frontier in her training."

Meredith smiles at her friend, "Sorry."

Christina laughs, "Oh, oh, oh, my god. You're totally not sorry. You're psyched. You got Hahn. If you're not, you should be."

The blonde shakes her head, "Well, she's terrifying. And you have given her unrealistic expectations as to what a resident should know."

The brunette resident shakes her head, "Just stay on top of the material, and don't get all warm and fuzzy with the patients. She hates that." Meredith nods at her as Christina continues, "If you have any questions, just come and ask me. I'll be in the clinic putting band-aids on stupid whiners who don't have the balls to get real injuries." She then snaps her fingers as they split up, "Peggy, One through four. Let's go. Come on."

Peggy stood in the clinic with her group helping random people who come in, as she's working on a patient a nasally, high pitched voice starts singing out her name. "Margaret! Baby, I'm here!"

The brunette freezes in her spot as everyone turns their gaze to the blonde woman stood at the doors of the clinic with a wide smile on her face. Slowly turning she takes in the sight of her mother standing in the room excitedly, "Monica?"

The blonde sequels running across the clinic, throwing her arms around her daughter not caring about any of the eyes on her. "I've missed you so much, baby!"

Seeing everyone's eyes on them the brunette didn't shove the woman off of her, only stood there with a grimace as Lexie gives her friend a wide-eyed look.

The second the woman let go of her, Peggy made sure to back up and grab her arm, "Monica please follow me."

"Okay, sweetheart." The woman smiles following her daughter out of the clinic and into the hallway.

Peggy just stares at her for a second before shaking her head, "What are you doing here?"

Monica looks at her confused, "I know Fiona told you about how you're getting a brother or sister." She tells her excitedly, "So I wanted to come here and see you. Just so I can share the excitement with you like I did with the other five!"

She scoffs at her mother, "You mean when you'd include me in the pregnancy so much, you left me to be the mother of all of your kids."

"Don't say that Margaret," Monica shakes her head. "It makes me sound like a bad mother, and you know how hard I worked to take care of you guys."

Peggy shakes her head, "No. How hard worked to take care of all of us. Don't take credit for my accomplishments."

Monica shakes her head, "It doesn't matter who did it. All the matters is that it was done and now there's going to be a whole new baby to love and care for."

Staying silent for a moment, Peggy sighs raising her eyebrow at her mother. "Have you gotten a check-up yet?"

"Nope," She pops out smiling at the girl before gasping. "Are you going to give me one?"
