The Dilemma

The faces on everyone paled but they looked at Anjana with pity and helplessness which enraged Anjana more. Raji sensing her anger held her hand tightly.

“Bring them to my room!” the groom ordered glaring at the women who cowed by his gaze moved aside leaving the way to the entrance open. He marched without a word into the palace, neither looking back nor pausing. A team of ten soldiers surrounded Raji and Anjana. One of them, a tall, rough looking man, addressed them in a gruff voice. “Please follow me.” He led the way neither looking back nor pausing while he marched up the steps. Anjana was tempted to hold her ground and see what would happen next, but when the soldier behind her nudged her with his weapon, her legs instinctively moved forward.
