Two sisters enter the world of a book they read after purchasing it at a yard sale from a peculiar old lady. Little do they know that it's not a book in its entirety. It's also an illusion. A gateway hidden in plain sight to another world. A world they once lived in. A lifetime of memories which they have forgotten through the passage of time. Waking up in the bodies of people from a forgotten time, haunted by strange dreams of death and a voice which informs them that they must defeat a Demon Lord if they wish to survive. There is no mention of returning home. What could these ladies possibly do? Will they take action and fight? Or will they succumb to these most unusual set of circumstances? One thing is certain, they have far too much in common with the bodies they're possessing. THE COVER IS NOT MINE.

Bonnie to the Rescue

Dixie couldn't put up much of struggle with her dwindling strength. She had a headache and felt very nauseous. No! This wasn't her body. This punishment wasn't hers to bear. It wasn't Felicia's either, but it was especially not hers. She did not even live in this world or know these people.

It should be that demon bitch and her stupid prince getting tied up to a pyre. And throw her equally rotten mommy on top while you're at it.

"Let go of me! Let go me at once! This is inhumane! How would you feel if you were made to face such a death? Don't you have a heart? How can you do this to another human being?"

The knights say nothing as they proceed to tie her up, placing her flat on her back, and igniting the branches at the bottom of the pyre. Tears of horror stream down her face as she feels the encroaching heat. What a horrible way to die! This why civilization has evolved to outlaw cruel and unusual punishments!

Staring at the blurry ceiling, a sudden outcry causes Dixie to look forward. A large, golden haired man was coming towards her.

Bonnie had leapt into action the moment she realized.

Knocking one of the knights to the side, she quickly picks up his sword and charges towards the pyre. Kicking away the burning branches, she brings her sword down hard on the side of the elevated pyre and cuts through the rope holding Dixie down. Wrapping an arm around her sister's waist, she pulls her away from the flaming mess and drags her a safe distance away.

Shock reigns in the air.

Duke Roelle stands up. He was startled earlier when he saw his son suddenly dart away, but now he was taken aback.

"Lord Alexander, what is the meaning of this?!" The Emperor roars.

Bonnie places her sister in a seated position before raising her sword. She spins on her heels as she faces off against the approaching knights. Six in total are closing in around them.

"I will slice you, bitches!! Come any closer and I will literally make you bleed!"

The Duke finally spoke. "Alexander, what are you doing?"

"Uhhh, I'm saving my sister. Obviously." Bonnie scratches her head nervously.

Helena is stunned. Why would he save her? He hates her! They all do!

The Pope rises. "Lord Alexander, you are incriminating yourself by halting the execution."

"Shut up, you bald fool!" Bonnie spat out spitefully. She knew everything about this Pope. He was even filthier than Helena. He routinely blasphemed the Goddess Kartara whilst pretending to serve her.

Many of the seated nobles were engaging in loud conversation. The shock had given way to curiosity. What was happening? It was a well known fact amongst high society that the Grand Duke's son hated his own sister because she is a troublemaker and instead favored his step-sister. Why was he suddenly rushing to rescue the wrong one? Why was he insulting the Pope in the same fashion as his abominable sister?

"Alexander, explain yourself!" The Duke chirps again.

"What are doing, Alex? I thought you had long discarded Felicia because of her constantly bullying Helena. Isn't Helena the one you love? Have you lost your senses, helping that woman!?" Prince Constantine's voice was laced with both shock and unease. He has not expected this in his wildest dreams.

"I've recently had a change of heart and mind and body too if I am to be completely honest."

The spectators are completely confused by this sudden development.

Dixie glances up. "Bonnie?"

"Yeah, D. It's me." Bonnie answers without looking at her since she's still eyeballing the knights.

"We're in the book." Dixie's voice was somber as she had yet to recover her mind from the horror of being tied up to be burned. She was still crying.

"Yes, we're in the book."

"How?"

"Beats me." Her tone became harsh as she addressed the knights around them. "Now listen carefully boys, I'm going to pick up my sister and we're going to leave. If any of you tries to follow us. I'll start swinging. Got it!"

The knights growl at him and Helena cries out. "Brother!"

Duke Roelle feared for his son's safety. "Alex, I don't know what you're doing but you better rethink your decisions before you get hurt!"

"Pfft! I wouldn't have to do this if you weren't such a weasel!" Bonnie declares. The Duke is taken aback.

Dixie wipes away her tears then gasps when she sees that her hands are glowing.
