When Doug and Philip arrived at Hotel de Alma, a bustling crowd surrounded them, seemingly oblivious to the impending reality of the treasure hunt.
Observing the crowd, Philip deduced that they were merely biding their time until the crucial 48-hour mark, where retaining points upon death became possible. Surviving the initial two days was a priority.
They soon encountered Conrad, who was diligently managing the hotel without the assistance of his usual butler, Alfred. Unlike other ghostly helpers, Alfred was absent, possibly frozen in the real world.
Philip didn't dwell on this as he inquired, "Are you managing well these days?"
Conrad, eyeing a wooden puppet of a child across him, replied, "It's okay. Although there were predatory birds last night, we managed to defend against them."
