The Hydra - Part 2

Before the hydra could loose it's corrosive flame upon them, Leezy swung his sword sending a massive bolt of lightning toward the six hydra heads that loomed above while sending a silent command to his undead skeleton minions...

They all jumped from the wall in unison and threw themselves into the lightning bolt, exploding into thousands of bone shards as they did so.

A huge smoke screen made of bone dust whipped around the area, cutting off the vision of the hydra as it let it's flames loose. With it's aim still upon the same area they were all in, it was easy for the trio to dodge from within the smoke and retreat to a safe distance.

Grim, teleporting softly to Reyes's side, looked at him with interest.

"What are those bracelets?"

"Again, long story, I need to get these things to work though."

"Have you tried…I don't know…maybe pouring some Ki into them?"

Nodding to him, Reyes met Grim's gaze with a scowl.

Earlier while his brother was charging up his attack, he had tried activating the bracelets with Ki, but nothing happened.

The hydra's roar echoed through the canyon as it continued spewing flame into the smoke, growing angry in a frantic search for it's prey. Ignoring it, Grim rubbed his chin in thought.

'Could those bracelets perhaps be…'

Using Hunter's Gaze, he scanned the bracelets again and almost gasped out loud.

"Kid…what you have there is the ancient relic of Solomon, The Giant King. How did you…?"

Pausing for a moment, he shook his head and continued.

"If I recall correctly, King Solomon was known as the Nocturne Moon God during his time. His bracelets were said to harness spirit energy reflected from the moon and combine it with his own arcane energy, magnifying it."

"Do you think we could use your spirit form to activate them?"

"It's worth a shot…"

Nodding, Reyes handed the bracelets over to Grim. As his hands touched them, they immediately began glowing softly. He could feel his energy being drained so quickly, he almost reverted back to base form.

The smoke around them was rapidly dissipating from the repeated blasts of flame the hydra was spewing about.

Noticing this, Leezy grunted.

"Hey, I don't mean to cut into the bonding experience here…but we don't have much more time so what the fuck is the game plan here?"

"You used the last of your arcane energy for that stunt with the skeleton's I presume?"

Locking eyes with Grim, Leezy nodded.

"We are going to have to take a gamble then. That Hydra passively leaks off arcane energy and we will have to get close. Thing is…that thing also chills the area in it's immediate vicinity so the closer we get, the slower we are going to move…"

Interrupting him, Reyes cut in with an idea.

"Do you have enough energy left to use that sphere thing you do?"

"No. These bracelets are sucking up all of my energy right now. I can barely even maintain this form at the moment."

"Do you think you can teleport us closer then?"

"That I can do, but we would only have one shot so make it count kid..."

As Grim finished speaking, the smoke fully dissipated revealing their position. The Hydra's cold glare met theirs, bringing along a foreboding silence that would could've killed any lesser man.

"Let's do this shit!"

Leezy yelled, breaking the tension while grabbing both of them with a grin upon his face.

"Wait…what?"

Wasting not a second further, Leezy threw the both of them ahead of him through the air toward the Hydra. Again it roared as six of it's heads shot toward them, mouth wide open.

The remaining heads, save for one, shot toward Leezy who jumped after them into the air after them.

"Watch out!"

Throwing his greatsword hard in their direction, he shouted a warning to them so they didn't get injured.

A swift duck ensured that the sword flew over the heads of the two and as it passed, Reyes grabbed its hilt allowing the forward momentum to drag them along.

Heavy fist blows could be heard behind them while the sword quickly carried them closer to the Hyrdra as Leezy fought to elude being captured in the jaws of the hydra heads that focused him.

From every angle Hydra heads came at Reyes and Grim in an effort to intercept them, moving so fast that if Reyes blinked he would have thought they teleported.

They were so close he could feel the collective breath of their open maws rolling over his skin but just as they were about to be devoured, Grim used the last of his energy for one final Ghost Flash, positioning them just above the Hydra and its main head.

In anticipation, it had already filled it's throat to the brim with corrosive flame and was opening its mouth fully prepared to reduce the both of them to nothing.

Turning his head toward Grim, Reyes grit his teeth in frustration. Not only had he reverted back to his base form, he was also unconscious and the bracelets still weren't charged enough.

'Nooooo! I refuse to die here!'

Screaming to himself in his mind, he grabbed the bracelets and gathered every ounce of energy in his body to pour into them.

Below, the main Hydra head let loose a stream of corrosive flame upwards that completely dwarfed the other heads flame's in comparison. Seeing certain death coming his way, Reyes closed his eyes and screamed.

"COME ON!!!"

It was at that moment, something completely unexpected happened. A pair of ghostly hands reached out and grabbed hold of the bracelets.

Opening his eyes, Reyes was surprised to see the face of King Solomon smiling at him as the bracelets began to glow with blinding light under his touch.

Zing!

Pure golden red tinged energy erupted from the bracelets, cutting through the flame like a hot knife through butter and dispersing it through the air. Seeing what just happened, the Hydra opened its mouth to roar but not a single octave escaped it's throat.

The beam shot straight down the Hydra's throat and exploded, sending blood mixed with chunks of scale and rubbery flesh all over the canyon…
