Chapter 11: First Spirit Ring

After eating dinner, I offered to help tend with washing the dishes we used but was flatly rejected by my mother, insisting that I should rest as I can to heal more quickly.

Not that I disagree with, so I heeded her request and led myself to my room.

Sitting peacefully at the edge of my bed, I could see the fluttering snowflakes that travel through the very nature of the north from the room's window.

I could never get enough of this view, the dark gleam of the night perfuses clarity in my entire being, and the cold winds that seep from the apertures in the corner of the glass panes, let the frosty waves of air touch my delicate skin.

I inhaled deeply, I could clearly see the trails of my breath freezing from the frigid climate of our village, I was suddenly curious.

What could the other places far from the glaciers look like?

At first, I wanted to have a Martial Soul as it was the most helpful if one wanted to adventure because not just the forests where soul beasts lives are dangerous, but the asphalted roads towards other towns or cities may be in such peril as well.

I simply want to travel the world, occasionally do smithing works to earn money, and experience the myriad mysteries of this world.

But the arrival of Skydream changed my ordinary dreams into a grand plan.

That was to become a god.

Asking myself, I do not have the single confidence about that, I agreed that I will try to become a God, not assuredly turn into one.

I mean, as a mortal with a mortal mindset from my past life, Gods are divine beings that control the laws and rules of the world, I am but a mere blacksmith, how could I possibly be one?

I don't know anything about Martial Souls aside from the fact that it can bestow you immortal-like abilities.

It really is a sin to be ignorant.

"Zhangkong's!"

Hearing Skydream's voice, I collected my thoughts and replied.

"Is there anything you need?"

Skydream wondrously appeared in front of me, I tried to touch him but was met with nihility.

"Idiot! This was only a manifestation of myself, my true body was in your Sea of Consciousness, so don't waste your time in this meaningless endeavor!" the worm mockingly replied.

Shrugging the embarrassment, I smiled wryly.

It seemed that this worm also picked on my shame and ignored it.

"Let us try activating your abilities, aren't you curious?" Skydream uttered.

Now that my existential crisis has been interfered with, I really am curious how attained abilities work.

"How do I activate it?" I bewilderedly asked.

"Simply channel your Spiritual Power to your eyes, imagine a current of power flowing to your Martial Soul, then it will activate!" Skydream remarked.

Following his instructions, I conceptualized in my mind a river that flowed relentlessly like billowing waves towards my Martial Soul, my very eyes.

It was a mysterious feeling, a warm current suffused in the golden jewels of my face, and a large ring quietly appeared on my rear back.

An elegantly designed ring with various corners and golden inscriptions, the multi-colored manifestation basked me with its light.

"I-i-is this what a ring looks like?" I was fascinated by this wonder.

"Wow! It was the first time I've seen you this flustered, were you that shocked to see a ring, you bumpkin? HAHAHA," Skydream commented as he boisterously snickered.

I ignored Skydream's meaningless remarks, fully focused on this beautiful ring.

It was just that, where did this come from?

From the books I've read, it said that I needed to kill a Soul Beast and seize its Soul Ring, or a Spirit Ring if it was a spiritual-aligned martial soul.

Nevermind killing one, I've never even seen a trace of their existence, how could I possess one.

"Skydream, where did this come from?" I curiously asked.

"Did you meet any Soul Beast aside from me, eliminating all the choices, well I myself is the only choice, then isn't it clear that it came from me?"

I could not endure the condescending gaze of Skydream as it irritated me deeply. To make it clear, Skydream is right. I was attached to the kill-and-seize process to obtain one, missing the simplest solution that was just in front of me.

Sensing the ring on my back, knowledge that I do not have previously, appeared in my mind magically.

"Spiritual Detection"

"Spiritual Sharing"

"Spiritual Interference"

"Spiritual Shock"

Choosing one of the four, my vision became wide and I could perceive anything in the range of thirty meters.

I did not know how in-depth my spatial measurements were, but a mysterious phenomenon happens where the information I could pick up from the detection appeared in my mind in exact detailed observations. Digital calculations as if a second brain were acting to process all the things I could detect from the surroundings.

The every falling snow that latched in the; walls, roofs, and windows of every house, the wet yet dry land frozen by the climate, every vibration of steps of the people in our village, their smiles, and some looks full of anguish, I feel omnipotent.

What made me disappointed was that after thirty meters, the skill was cut off, deactivating it.

" By your current capabilities, you can only activate that skill anywhere but not beyond thirty meters, do not worry as this will be increased as long as you get stronger" Skydream declared.

If this skill is a growth-type skill, then its potential is limitless.

I could subtly and accurately monitor anything within the range of this skill, as said by someone I do not know, knowledge is power.

Just imagine a situation where an enemy is hiding in a place where stealthily hiding is possible, I could easily find that foe without him noticing.

About how to strengthen this skill, Skydream said that as long as I develop, its range will expand.

The problem is, how do I strengthen myself?
