Chapter 36: Live Test subjects (2)

Xue Tie decides to place Lin BoShuang in the living room for now. He is still chained up, and Xue Tie continues his tests. The third patient had been quite literal with their words and ended up getting smacked to death by Xue Tie.

The fourth was a different story; the woman he brought in was quite smart and ignored everything Xue Tie said, even though he did his usual script of the doctor play. She automatically assumed that he was gonna rape her or something worse. (typical karen)

She directly blew herself up by coalescing her spirit power and detonating it. Xue Tie was barely able to summon his robes of blood martial spirit to block it. A bit of his cross stitched lab robes/aprons had gotten a bit burnt as a result, which upset Xue Tie quite a bit by the time he got to the 5th patient.

It's another female, and as such, Xue Tie eyes her more in case she tries to blow herself up as well. Xue Tie didn't like it the first time, and he won't the second.

"REAPER" The girl wakes up with a pounding headache as Xue Tie did hit her quite hard when he first knocked her out. She calls out the last thing she remembered, which is the Reckless Reaper stalking around the slums again and knocking her out.

"Oh? I don't think I'm that scary", the girl hears a voice next to her and sees a dark red haired man with brown eyes dressed in a messy doctor getup sitting in a chair next to her. She quickly realizes that she is chained and bound.

"Now, before we get started.I have no interest in your body or whatever schizoid delusions you may have in your mania." he quickly states, but his words only confuse the girl as certain words he says aren't that well known or available at all due to lack of therapists and psychologists.

Once Xue Tie ascertains that she isn't doing anything, he begins his explanation of the test, his successes, which now include Lin Boshuang and other factors. He learns that she is a level 28 spirit Grandmaster with a mutated martial spirit. Some sort of elemental dust. He was able to convince her to help in the test. He did not learn her name, though.

She brings out the elemental dust, and it is literally a collection of pebbles of myriad colors. Xue Tie can almost taste the rainbow from just looking at it. But he shakes his head of distractions and stabs the first ring, which both hers are yellow.

She quickly begins shaking with some cracks on her skin, which are healed as Xue Tie feeds her the blood medicine that he filled up again after Boshuangs turn. He also keeps track of her brain to ensure she isn't fried.

This process continues for roughly an hour before her first ring gains shades of purple, and then half an hour more before her ring becomes fully purple. Xue Tie was prepared this time and immediately gave a whole bottle as it reached the transitioning state. It lessened her burden greatly and he finally retracted his trident. The purple ring stabilizes but just like Lin Boshuang, she is unconscious after having screamed for the past hour and a half. He brings her over to another seat in the living room. Her chains are still on to prevent any crazy circumstances.

Xue TIe is now out of test subjects but he had a crazy idea whilst working on the last 5 patients.

'I can refine my spirit rings and my blood. But it's only externally, but what about internally?' He thinks as he twirls his trident which he shrunk down to pen size in his hand.

'Nothing to lose by trying, I'm stronger than these 2 anyways. So my pressure load is higher' he says as he returns to the cultivation room and while still twirling the trident, he activates his first spirit ring for it and stabs himself in the hand. Not deep enough to touch bone, at most to break skin. He can deal with his bones later if this works.

(A/N: even if he cant use spirit skill while the trident is shrunken, at most it's just one of the spikes inserted. The difference is little)

The trident sprouts new veins over his hand which begin spreading through his entire body. He doesnt experience a mental pain like before, sure pressure but not pain as he is refining his own body. An intense itchiness had covered Xue Tie as the veins fully spread throughout his body. He doesnt immediately feel different until his spirit power begins flowing through these veins, refining his blood as it goes.

"AAAAAAGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHH"

Xue Tie can't suppress his yells of pain as he spends the next 2 hours under intense pressure from the refinement. When it ends the veins disappear quickly and Xue Tie passes out at that moment and only wakes up a few hours later.

He finds that not only has he ejected many impurities but he also has ejected his old layer of skin. This makes scrapping the impurities easier as he just needs to take off the old skin. He feels like a snake which has just finished shedding but much smellier due to the impurities.

Once he cleanses himself, he tests out his body and finds that his strength has increased a small bit but it's his defense that rose the most. A normal knife could at least cut him if he applied his own strength, but not the knife is too weak to do so. The increase in strength is instead more gradual as his body begins replacing his muscles and more skin through mitosis but he can accelerate this if he stabs his muscles with his trident.

He isn't sure if he will need to stab each muscle ground independently or if it will spread out by itself but he has his priorities and after checking on the 2 patients/good friends in the living room and finding that they are still unconscious. He stabs his bones.

It is needless to say that the experience was grueling and painful. The itchiness spreading all over his bones that one normally wouldn't feel is much worse than his skin.

After doing his bones, he moved onto his muscles. It takes him a whole day to fully refine both his bones and muscles, this included the resting period after each one.

Xue Tie actually struggled to stab his muscles as his bones had greatly increased in weight after being refined. This was on par with the full power of his 3rd spirit ring-Immutable's weight. Luckily the muscles were all connected and he didn't have to repeat the process of each set of muscles or he might have cried from the pain.

Nevertheless, once he settled down and tested out his body strength, he realized that he is at least 3 times as strong as he was before he attempted any of his refinement. Physically of course, his spirit power has experienced no changes this time around which is acceptable to Xue Tie as he is still processing his current changes. He is not sure he could handle getting his 6th spirit ring for his armor so soon due to adjusting to his already modified combat method.

Xue Tie can only shake his head and he moves to the living room and notices that both patients are awakening at the same time. Quite the coincidence
