“I didn’t do well”

The sun was about to set, creating a beautiful scene.

A girl is getting ready to jump from the rooftop of one of her school's buildings.

Tears flowed down to her cheeks, as she's remembering her past.

"Just what did I ever do that made Him turn my life from joyous to miserable?!" Zavia screamed at the top of her lungs…

A few years ago…

"The teacher's giving our cards today! Who do you think will win first place again? Hahaha" said one of Zavia's classmates.

"Of course our class president will be first again." Catrina held her chin and said.

Belle tugged Catrina's shirt and whispered, "Cat, you know better than anyone here that Avi didn't do well this quarter."

Both of them looked at Zavia, who didn't leave her chair for 5 hours, crying silently.

The three of them have been best friends ever since they were 5 years old, and they're 10 now. Thinking about their past, this was the first time that Zavia is crying silently.

'Her last math competition result must've deeply hurt her. She scored too low that her always composed mother, spanked her in front of many people.' Belle thought as she went to comfort Zavia.

Zavia is good at math ever since she was a kid, she always won first place but now, she was in 5th place. She is also good at Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and English but those subjects are not as important as Math to her…

"Avi, tell me… do you want to go to our hiding spot and cry there? Crying silently won't do you any good…" Belle said while holding her tears back.

"Belle…" Zavia looked at her best friend in the eye. Instead of pity, she saw sincerity, and sadness in Belle's eyes.

"So, shall we?" Catrina smiled and reached to hold Zavia's hand.

Zavia wiped her tears with her handkerchief, and the three of them then went to their hiding spot.

Their hiding spot was under a big tree, it was peaceful and no one will be able to guess they went there because the teachers forbade them from going to that spot. However, they didn't take their teachers' words seriously.

"Avi, I'm sorry," Catrina looked down. She now started to regret what she had said earlier.

"Cat, it's okay… It's not like I did really bad on the exams… it's just that I scored a bit low than I always score in exams. Besides, mom won't scold me if I do bad as long as I'm still the first placer in the whole grade." Zavia smiled while she thought of reasons to tell her mom why she scored 40 out of 50 in all the subjects she wanted her to perfect, while she scored 38 out of 50 to her Filipino, and ESP (Edukasyon sa Pagpapakatao) subjects.

"Still, I'm really sorry, Zavia." Catrina clenched her fists… how could she forgive herself when she saw her best friend crying silently before.

"Cat, it's fine, really! So, stop feeling guilty… it's no one's fault ok? I just couldn't stop crying earlier."

"Cat, if you don't stop feeling that way I'll also feel guilty! Now do you want both of us to feel guilty and might ignore her because we won't have the courage to face her?!" Belle crossed her arms while trying to hold back her tears and said.

"Fine! I won't now! Belle, you win!" Catrina wiped her tears away and laughed, then both Zavia and Belle also laughed.

After a while, they went back inside the classroom. All eyes were on them, Belle's hair is a mess, Catrina's shoes are dirty, and Zavia's face is a total mess… and all of their classmates laughed at them.

Their class Secretary gave Zavia a mirror and she nearly dropped it.

'How embarrassing!' Zavia thought to herself as she awkwardly laughed and went to their restroom.

Belle also looked at her face in the mirror and grabbed their Vice-President's comb, surprised, she looked at Belle and laughed really hard. This made Belle as red as a tomato.

Just as one of their classmates mention Catrina's dirty shoes, their teacher appeared and said, "Catrina, what happened to your shoes? Did you go hiking or something?"

Catrina looked down and saw her shoes, she nearly screamed because it was very dirty. 'Mud!!! RED ALERT!'
