Chapter 57

Sonic walked inside. "Wait, guys... there's something we need in here," Sonic stated. Everyone followed him in. There was a PC and monitor on the ground here. The PC was plugged in! Reaching into his bag, he caught a hold of the CD and hard drive. He spun the CD in a circle around his finger, placing his finger inside the hole of the CD. "I found this in the mansion. It might give us an idea of what's going on here."

Sonic reached for the button to make the disc tray slide out, but then, the screen on the monitor cut to black. The entire room fell dark. A voice emanated from the PC. "Hey, kids!" It exclaimed. It sounded like an old cartoon character's voice, but strained and unwilling. It had a wacky tinge to it and it was high-pitched. "Wanna hear something that will make you smile... from ear... to EAR?!" The voice laughed and screamed, alongside some sort of high-pitched, loud frequency. It didn't come from the PC, but rather all around Sonic.

"Hey, do you guys..." Sonic started, but he started chuckling. "Hear that?" Sonic broke out into a laughing fit.

"No?" Sonja said, backing away. Sonic concluded it must have been some hedgehog whistle. He felt it invading his brain, making him think things he wouldn't even think of doing.

Sonic continued to laugh. Soon, he couldn't breathe because of all the laughing. He didn't even know what was so funny. But he couldn't control the laughter. The frequency grew in pitch. Everyone started to back away. Sonic felt like he was going insane. Tails shut the door on Sonic. "Hey, guys!" Sonic laughed. "Don't you want to listen to this?" Sonic asked. He had the biggest toothy grin on his face. "It's just so... FUNNY!"

Sonic knocked on the door. He was trapped! Those bastards had locked it from the outside. "Hey... hey let me out!" Sonic cackled maniacally. Drool fell from his foaming mouth. He began to shake. He had a horrified expression on his face, his grin making it seem like he was having a fun time. He screamed through the laughter. Soon, his voice was a wild mixture of insane laughter and terrified screams.

Sonic punched through the door, his fist going right through it. He cringed away as the blood sprouted out from the cuts on his arm. But he laughed all through it. He tore down the door, and climbed out once there was a hole big enough for him to squeeze through.

"I'm coming for all of you!" Sonic shouted, laughing. His horrified expression ceased. Leaving just a grin on his face and anger in his eyes. "You'd better run!"

Sonic ran through the house, looking everywhere for the people he once called friends. In a maniacal rage, he wanted nothing but to end them all. He didn't know what that frequency did to him, but he didn't care anymore. He was going to kill them for the fun of it.

Sonic slammed open a door, and found Buck cowering in the dark room. Walking over, Buck pointed the nail he had found at Sonic. Sonic slapped it away, laughing. It fell to the ground on the other side of the room. Buck closed his eyes and put his arms up. Sonic, in one fast motion, grabbed Buck's antlers and began to pull. They were ripped clean off. Sonic cackled. He was enjoying every second of this!

Buck screamed in agony and fear. Tails could hear it from the other room as Sonic rammed an antler down Buck's throat. He waited until Buck was out of oxygen, and then started ramming the other antler into Buck's chest. He did this until he poked a hole, through which Sonic rammed the antler. He stabbed through Buck's heart. And sped off as Buck died.

Tails could hear a knock at the door. It became a pounding. Then, a fist broke through. When Sonic broke down the door, he saw a squirrel. She had a blue jacket, and a brown tuft of hair on her head. Her eyes were blue. The princess of the Kingdom of Acorn? "Sonic, don't hurt me! It's me, your girlfriend, Sally!"

Sonic stopped laughing. He raised an eyebrow. Then, continued to laugh. "We've never even met!" Sonic wound up a punch, and then threw his fist into this Sally's face. A male scream came out of the female squirrel's mouth. Sonic hit again. And again. He laughed, and took full pleasure in this turmoil he was inflicting upon others. He repeated this process until this Sally's face was completely caved in.

Sonic kicked the bloody corpse, and then ran off to find Sonja. The corpse morphed slowly into a human man. But Sonic didn't see it.

Sonja was flying down yet another corridor. She heard fast footsteps coming from a far-off room. She held Pico close to her, as he looked up at her crying face innocently. He sniffled. Sonja continued to cry softly, trying her best not to alert Sonic to her presence. She would get out of this house and fly far away. She would get a little house in a small, sunny town with Pico. She would leave Sonic behind with no way of finding her. But she didn't want to.

She had to, though. It wasn't fair to throw Pico's life away just because of her own feelings. She heard the footsteps nearing. She wasn't going to make it! She sped up. She sped up until she was positive not even Sonic could catch her. But the footsteps were making their way to the door. Thinking fast, Sonja knelt down and let Pico on the ground. He didn't move, even when she moved her hands back. He looked up at her with those eyes. Those big, round, loving eyes.

She resisted the urge to cry louder. She could still buy him time, but only if he obeyed his mother and ran away. Or crawled... whatever! She'd hold Sonic off and let Pico live, if only for a little while.

Sonic knocked on the door. Sonja could hear that awful, maniacal, yet inviting laughter. She knew it wasn't supposed to come off as inviting. But anything Sonic did got her heart all in knots. Sonja knelt down to Pico's ear and whispered. "Run... my sweet, sweet baby..." Pico looked up at Sonja and sniffled. He let out a weak trumpet sound. Sonja smiled softly as she pushed him away.

Pico trumpeted in a tantrum. "Sonja... come out, come out, wherever you are!" Sonic called out, in a singsong voice. It broke under the laughter. he pounded on the door. Sonja pushed Pico further, but he crawled back to her. There was sadness in his eyes. He cuddled her. He wanted to be there with her until her last dying breath. Sonja, her spirit broken, wailed out. She flew over to the door, and tried to hold it back. It was coming down.

"Sonic... please stop this!" Sonja wailed through tears. "Sonic, I can't tell you... I could never tell you what I really feel... but I care about you a lot! And I know you care about me, too. So, please... Sonic..." Sonja heard the door break down. She pushed it back. "Sonic!" She cried.

Sonic stopped laughing. He breathed deeply and carefully. "Sonja... you... you really do?" He asked. His voice was more genuine than Sonja had ever heard it. "Sonja... I... I'm sorry for scaring you. Let me in. I promise I can make it up to you. I'll do it somehow."

Sonja smiled, flicking the tears away. She backed away from the door, letting it drop. She heard Pico shuffling away from far off down the hall. But she was focused one hundred percent on Sonic right now. She could hear it in his voice. And she could see it in his big, black eyes.

He was back.

He took a step forward. Sonja floated forward. Sonic reached out his arms, a half-smile on his face. Sonja quickly embraced him. She felt all her worries wash away. She wrapped her arms around Sonic. She didn't even care about his poky spikes. She didn't care about the sharp pain in her back. She didn't care that she was feeling her life force drain out her back as the sharp pain went away. Sonic looked up at her genuinely. He smiled and winked. She fell to the ground. And faded out of view in a white light. All that was left of her was the ectoplasm that lay on the floor and on the sharp, jagged nail Sonic held. Sonic smiled down at what very well could have been her form of blood.

Sonic dashed forward, dropping the nail. Soon, he saw Pico. He was scooting away from Sonic. Sonic picked him up in his clammy, furry hands by the face. Pico struggled to get loose. Sonic chuckled. And then began to laugh again. Pico trumpeted sadly multiple times. But then, it became but a whistle as he ran out of breath.

Sonic, to Pico's surprise, held him close to him. He continued to laugh as Pico snuggled up to him. Maybe he wasn't all that bad.

Then, Sonic took him by the back. He rammed Pico's face into the wall. Pico trumpeted in pain. Then, Sonic rammed his face into the wall again. And again, and again, and again. He then threw Pico to the ground with a splat. Pico was dead. His face was caved in, his growing tusks were broken off. Blood pooled out of the baby's face and trunk. He fell limp. Sonic stepped on the corpse, and shattered every bone. Laughing as if it was some sort of badly thought up pun he had said.

Sonic continued down the hall, laughing. Smiling from ear to ear.

Bad ending reached: "From Ear To Ear"
