Song of Numen

So, here is the deal. My name is Christian Grey. Maybe, as you read this familiar name, you might have raised an eyebrow and silently accused my dear mother and father of plagiarism, but I swear it wasn't intentional! Alright, alright, maybe just a teeny tiny bit. You see, my dear reader, my mom had a bookcase that could give any library a run for its money. I think she came up with my name from some random character in one of her books or maybe from one of those movies that…let's just say they made themselves at home on our screen more times than I can count. I sincerely don't remember the origin of this name. In fact, as I sit here writing these words, my memory seems to be playing a hide and seek game with me. I can't remember the specifics of my life back on Earth. It's been ages since I have reincarnated in this world! But hey, I can't complain. It was indeed satisfactory. Ops! I have blabbered on too much. I am indeed getting senile; my granddaughter is right. Let's move on. Where did I stop? Right, Right, How did I ended up in this world? Once upon a time, in the sad and depressive corporate life, I was just your average person, working day in and day out, while secretly dreaming of becoming a great author…. Wait! What was that arched eyebrow again, prick? I can practically hear your mind screaming from my side of the universe, "Oh great! Another one of those boring reincarnation stories where the main character is an overpowered, handsome and courageous man!" Blah Blah Blah. Believe me, I get it! *Cought* *Cough* But thank you for the last part, I am indeed overpowered, handsome and courageous. You are such a sweet person. I know that you have already read about it all before in those countless reincarnation novels and animes. It's like a broken record, a recycled and infinite plotline. I won't deny it, my story is indeed quite generic, familiar to some and new to others. But trust me reader, dear reader, I am about to take that well-worn path and maybe give it a little twist that you have seen it coming all along. Right? Oh, right! Just saying that the final chapter of this diary or novel if you might call it, may never reach your hands. I am not dead yet and maybe I will never be. Now, I will leave things here. I wish you a good ride. So, buckle up, grab some popcorn, and expect some crazy vanilla, some predictable and not at all creative stories. This all begins on day one, they day when I accidentally killed the Main Character of my own novel. -x- Yoo! This is a new series that I will be launching sporadically, together with my other work "Building a Kingdom and Conquering the World!". Thank you for the support! Don't forget to drop by to know my other work!

Chapter 2 - Welcome to the Family

Alright, alright, I know what you're thinking: "Oh, great, another reincarnation where the main character is born into a poor family, struggles against the odds, slaps a few arrogant noble faces, and eventually becomes some kind of hero. Or, about a duke's son that is very very overpowered, right?"

Yeah, well, you are not entirely wrong. I got quite lucky.

I was born as the first prince of the Aestum Empire. My new name? Christian Aestum Dragonheart. Fancy, right? Well, wait till you hear about my family.

So, the founder of my glorious family, Victor Aestum Dragonheart, wasn't just your average hero. Nope, this guy was raised by dragons. Inside a volcano. And as if that wasn't hot enough, he topped it off by literally eating a dragon's heart after an epic battle against an elder dragon that governed over fire.

When he descended his fiery home, the Olympic Volcano, Victor went on to become the hero of humankind, the guy who single-handedly took down the Demon King and banished demons to the freezing hellscape in the North where they've been cooling their heads ever since. He was ridiculously strong, lived for over two thousand years, and from what I hear, had a temper that could probably turn the whole continent into magma.

I really wish I could have met the guy before he got reincarnated. I even went after his soul in the underworld, but the guys there said he decided to get a new body and reincarnated, saying that the underworld was boring. Anyway, he's the original Dragonheart, and I'll fill you in on more of his legendary journey as we go. Just know this: He was freakishly strong and an old freak with a temper that could fight even the king of the underworld.

But enough about him, let's get back to the great me.

So, reincarnating as a prince of the Aestum Empire sounds pretty sweet, right? Well, you are not wrong. It took me about four months to understand the language around here, and another month to get the whole walking thing down. In any normal family, people would be throwing parties over that. But in my new family? Nah, nobody batted an eye. Apparently, royal kids of the Aestum Family walking at five months old is just... normal and unimpressive.

Then, as soon as I took my first steps, the first thing they shoved into my tiny, chubby baby hands? A sword.

Yes, you heard me right. A sword.

I remember that day all too well. There I was, just learning how to toddle around, when suddenly my so-called "papa", King Leon Aestum Dragonheart, ruler of the empire, decides it's time for a little "training."

"Since you're walking now, you want to be as strong as Papa, right?" - he asked with this huge grin on his face, like he's about to teach me how to ride a bike or something. Then he hands me a sword that's bigger than I am and says - "Don't worry, dad will train you!".

Oh, the thought of pulling his long red hair was strong, but I held on and only looked into his snake-like yellow eyes as if I didn't understand a thing.

I know that the descendants of this family are all born naturally strong. I get that. But come on. Training a baby with a sword? Even I knew that was a little nuts. I mean, I knew from there that this world wasn't normal.

I tried to look to my mother for help, the Great Queen Isabel, the patient one, but she just smiled at me with eyes filled with encouragement.
