Minato waited impatiently for the Hokage to arrive. He paced the room while going over the many questions he planned to ask the man.
The old wooden door creaked open and the Third Hokage finally came in. Minato watched as the old man made his way to his desk and sat down facing the window. As Minato opened his mouth to speak, Sarutobi held up a hand to silence the man.
"I know you have a lot of questions, Minato, but I cannot provide with all the answers. It is simply not my place." He said. Minato thought on that and for a moment longer it was quiet.
"Can we trust him? I mean is he really who he says he is? Are you certain he's not an enemy?" Minato spewed in a serious tone.
"Yes, we can trust him. He is quite the remarkable young man, he will prove an invaluable asset in the future of this war." The Hokage promised. "You may still have doubts about him but that is something I'm sure will disappear once you spend time with him."
Minato wore a look of confusion. "What do you mean 'spend time with him?'" He inquired. He may have brought him to the village, but that didn't mean he was going to be best friends with the kid. The Hokage didn't answer.
"Okay... well something is still bothering me." The old man waved his hand as a way of telling him to proceed, though he already knew what the blonde man was going to say. "He said something about the Nine-Tails- what did he mean? I thought Kushina was the jinchuuriki of the Nine-Tails?"
"She is." Sarutobi confirmed.
"Then how- "
"Have patience, Minato." He interrupted. "You will know when the time comes." Said man was getting very frustrated with the lack of knowledge he was receiving. He just wanted to know that this mysterious blonde man was safe. That he wasn't going to pose any threat, intentional or otherwise.
"Thank you, Lord Hokage." He said while bowing. He thought it best to leave before he got angry, besides he got the feeling that the only way his questions about Naruto would be answered was of the boy himself.
"Minato." The sound of his name halted the yellow-haired man. "Naruto will be assigned to work with your team once he is all healed." The Hokage informed.
Minato's jaw hit the floor. "What!" He practically shouted. "Why?! Don't I get a say in this?!" He was outraged. Whatever the Hokage had said in his favor, he didn't quite trust Naruto to be with his adorable students. He seemed too unpredictable, even if he did mean well.
"I think it would be good for all those involved. It's only for a few months, though. Then, if you are still opposed, I will have him reassigned." Explained the aged man. This time he wasn't stopped as Minato left the Hokage's tower fuming.
The cool evening rain chilled his skin and helped him cool down. He got small greetings from the villagers and his fellow shinobi which he returned with a forced smile. He took a familiar route to his and Kushina's apartment. As he walked he thought about the situation at hand. About Naruto being assigned to his team. Maybe this could be a good thing after all, right? He ๐ฅ๐ช๐ฅ want answers that only the boy could or would give him. However, Minato knew that it was this connection he felt with the blonde that made him so wary and unsure, it made him want to trust him with out a second thought which was never a good thing, never mind in a war. Especially regarding someone who posed more questions than answers.
He signed and opened his apartment door to be greeted with the smell of Kushina's delicious cooking.
"Is something wrong, dear?" She asked, hearing his sigh. Kushina was a beautiful woman with long red hair that reached passed her knees. She had, in Minato's opinion, the most gorgeous deep blue eyes. Just seeing her waiting for him brought a smile to his face.
"Why don't you tell me while we eat? Set the table, I'm just finishing the food." She suggested. Once they were seated, Minato told her all about the blonde boy they found on the mission and what he had said once he woke in the hospital, he even spoke of the odd connection he felt. Kushina was surprisingly quiet and attentive through it all. "Well, he sounds like quite the interesting character. An Uzumaki you say, hmm... looks to me as if I must meet the young man." She smiled brightly.

One week later, Naruto was ready to be discharged from the hospital. Lady Tsunade had been hesitant about it since normally such injuries as the man had would require a minimum of one month to heal, but the blonde kept on asking at least once a day, and his was miraculously all healed so there really was no reason to keep him.
The younger female staff were sad to see him go to say the least. With all the swelling and abnormal coloring gone from his face Naruto was actually really attractive. The swelling left his cheeks to reveal high cheekbones and a strong jaw. His lips were a flushed pink and his blue eyes were enough to make the skies jealous. Not even to mention his bright hair that seemed to rival the sun in its radiance, it always looked so soft, you just wanted to run your fingers through it. Aside from his face he was at least 6'4 with a lean build. Despite all his fangirls he never seemed to notice how handsome others found him.
"Ok, I'm all done. Here are your clothes." Lady Tsunade was doing a last check up. She held out the tattered clothes the young man had come in with. Naruto chuckled as he gingerly took them. Tsunade smiled a little. "The Hokage wants to see you in his office, I'm sure he'll give you money for new ones." She reassured before walking out and closing the sliding door behind her.
Naruto took his eyes away from the door to look at the clothing in his hands. The jacket was completely ruined, so there was no way he could wear it. The shirt was a little better as were the pants so he quickly threw them on and left via window to avoid the younger staff that were hovering between his room and the main exits.
Naruto was glad to be out of the hospital. He wondered how long it would take to get the overwhelming smell of medicine and sickness out of his nose. He hated hospitals. As he made his way to the Hokage's tower whispers filled the air. Naruto wasn't surprised, his clothes looked like he had just been in the middle of battle. Not to mention how greatly he resembled the famous Yellow Flash of the Leaf and yet not one of them could place a name.
The blonde stopped on the rooftop of the building across from the Thirds office, he took count of the number of ANBU on guard. There were about a dozen. He shrugged before flashing through the open window. Immediately he was surrounded by ANBU and he counted a grand total of ten blades at his throat. The Old Man himself rose abruptly from his seat at the sudden flash of movement, he relaxed once he saw who it was and signaled for his guards to stand down.
"You know that there is a door, right? And if you use said door you will be welcomed more warmly?" He asked. Naruto chuckled a little. "Anyways, I wanted to tell you that I placed you with Team Seven for the time being." He said, getting right to the point. he didn't his beating around the bush would be appreciated.
Naruto sputtered slightly. "What?" He asked, disbelievingly, as if he thought the Hokage would laugh and say 'gotcha'. He didn't.
"Is there a problem?" The Hokage asked innocently.
"Yes, actually." He dared confess. "You see, that team is comprised of my future sensei who has a large stick up his ass, my ๐ง๐ข๐ต๐ฉ๐ฆ๐ณ, and who else... oh yeah, the one who killed all my friends and brought back to life the man who razed my village to the ground. What's not to love?" He asked sarcastically. Sarutobi was slightly surprised and amused by Naruto's outburst, he couldn't recall the last time someone had the guts to speak to him like that.
"Actually, it is because of those relations that I am placing you with them. You want to save your friends, right? Maybe this can be utilized to your advantage." The Hokage persuaded. Naruto just scowled at him, sensing ulterior motive but not wanting to call it out.
"Anyways, here's the keys to your new apartment and some funds for food and clothes until we get you out on missions." He handed Naruto a set of keys with a slip of paper that had the address, and an envelope full of money.
Naruto bowed respectfully. "Thanks, Old Man. I'll pay you back." He promised as he accepted the items.
"There's no need." Sarutobi insisted but Naruto gave him a look that said he would do it anyways. Sarutobi sighed in defeat. "Fine. Just go get settled in. Minato will be by to pick you up tomorrow."
"Yippee." The blonde mumbled blandly and he left the way he came. The Hokage leaned back in his chair and sighed. ๐๐ฆ ๐ธ๐ช๐ญ๐ญ ๐ฃ๐ฆ ๐จ๐ฐ๐ฐ๐ฅ ๐ง๐ฐ๐ณ ๐ต๐ฉ๐ช๐ด ๐ท๐ช๐ญ๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ฆ, the man thought before facing his mounds of paperwork.
