Someone Borrowed

Raven Jocelynna drives down to her best friend's bachelorette summer getaway, expecting a couple of months of parties, laughs, and careless drinks to have a bittersweet farewell. Instead sees the man she had a one-night stand with months prior standing just before her, only now as her best friend's fiance. Raven tries to stay away from Caiden, but they clash together and get tangled up yet again with each other. Raven has always put her best friend first, along with their lifelong friendship, but when it comes to love, are all cards off the table? Is a one-night stand tough enough and strong enough to overpower something longer? Is love worth it all if you risk the one solid friendship you've ever had, or is happiness worth it in the end? This steamy and emotional story leaves no stone unturned and all truths out in the open as one woman struggles to let go of someone borrowed. And for the first time, two best friends are torn apart as life inevitably gets in the way.

Chapter One

I walk up the long and windy driveway to the very large, fifteen-bedroom, six-bathroom and very homey-looking dark brown wooden cabin that looms in the distance.

It was supposed to be a good weekend, my best friend since childhood was inside along with our other twelve different friends, all from both sides of our friend group.

It is the last weekend before she is no longer a single lady and gets a ring put on her finger. She has been my best friend throughout my entire life, we grew up together. Our fathers were best buds and left us with our mothers who grew very close.

Marley has had many boyfriends, she was the party type. The type of party animal to hop from bar to bar and never get tired until the early hours of the morning.

I was shocked to hear she had met a man and kept it secret from me, only to be engaged to him after only one month of dating. Granted, she said he was hot as hell and reeked sex, but that didn't matter when it was for life, marriage was for life and so far nobody has ever had Marley this tongue-tied before.

So, as me being the dotting friend I had to see if he was good enough for my bestfriend, and of course, going to the bachelor/bachelorette party for free booze.

Hey! Just because she's the party animal, doesn't mean that I don't drink.

I rarely drink but when I do and I get a couple in me, that's when I turn party animal and cut loose. But I almost never drink that much. Almost.

As I walk up the driveway of the small but looming cabin Marley owns, I see Marley poke her beautiful light blonde curls out of one of the windows that face down the driveway and she squeals, "Oh my fucking word! I cannot believe you're late Rave!" Marley shouts as she pops her head back into the window, closing it.

I get up to the big and long porch steps, huffing my way up them and tug along my two duffel bags of things and pull my German Shepard-Golden Retriever mix behind me, lightly.

"Come, Sammy." I say stepping up onto the porch steps.

Samson barks softly beside me and walks with me up the stairs. The light wooden stained porch was effortlessly beautiful, the sun bounced off the wooden boards very nicely.

I walk up to the door and go to reach forward and wrap my hand around the golden round doorknob, but the door swings open to reveal a face I would know anywhere.

A face that has haunted my steamiest and wildest dreams for months.

Then my best friend's white porcelain face and bright golden curls come bouncing into my vision and I am crushed into a hug.

"Rave! I'm so happy you came! Come meet my future husband, Caiden this is the one and only Raven and Raven this is the man I'm going to marry!" Marley falls back from the embrace to bounce her way back to Caidens side.

Caiden's light blue eyes stare intensely at me for a good few seconds before looking away and clearing his throat, "It's nice to meet you Raven."

What...?
