Haru along with Jinah and Jin-Woo returned to the Sung residence soon after dealing with the two monarchs.
Haru had a feeling about this whole situation that something massive was about to transpire before the arrival of Antares. The fact that now every single Monarch except for the King of Spectres—Yogumunt was dead concerned Haru about the uncertainty of how the plot would flow from here on.
Regardless, he didn't bother thinking about that stuff as of now and first brought his girl back to the place where she could find solace. Her home.
In her parents' arms, Jinah was wailing like a small kid which made Haru's heart wrench but since he didn't want to make her uncomfortable he walked out of the place so the family could comfort each other.
With his phone attached to his ear, he heard the call ringing twice before the other party picked it up.
"Hello, Kuroi?"
[Ah, Haruka-sama. Did everything turn out fine? Is your girlfriend safe now?]
Hearing her concerned tone, Haru reassured her, "Yeah, everything is fine now. Jinah is safe and back in her home. Anyway, I was asking whether you guys would like to stay there or go back to the apartment. There should be a car outside the warehouse which could drive you two back to the apartment. "
The warehouse where Haru sent the two was not a simple godown but rather a facility he had created for safekeeping. It has most of the necessities available and some means of entertainment added to the mix as well.
However, [If possible, we would like to go back...this place isn't allowing Lady Riko to rest properly. You see...those things around the place are quite scary for a young girl like her.]
The monsters Haru has placed around the warehouse were A-ranked eight-horned antlers and some orcs for tanking the place if someone tries to ambush the place.
But surely, despite being safe it must have been giving an eerie atmosphere to the young girl, and maybe to Kuroi as well? Haru wouldn't know about it since the diligent maid never talked about her needs or wants whatsoever.
"Hmm, alright. I will talk with the driver to send you two back home. And if you guys need anything pick it up on the way. That card I gave you has enough money, so don't hesitate, alright?"
There was a slight pause in the line which made Haru check whether the call might have gotten disconnected. But he soon attached it back to his ear upon hearing Kuroi's slightly weaker tone.
[Thank you, Haruka-sama...for taking care of us like this. Even in times of crisis, you thought about our safety...I simply cannot express how grateful we are for your kindness, Haruka-sama.]
Haru's lips arched slightly in a smile upon hearing those heartfelt words before he replied in his usual tone, "Don't sweat about it, Kuroi. Just be safe on your way back and call me if something happens."
After disconnecting the call, Haru turned around and walked into the apartment where Jinah and her mother were no longer present.
Sung Il-Hwan was talking with his son on the couch however upon Haru's arrival both of them turned their gaze at him.
...now, it was awkward.
Fortunately, the lady of the house suddenly walked out to quell the situation before it could become any more heavy. Just the thought of talking to the father of the girl whom Haru was dating under such circumstances seemed a little too awry.
"She's sleeping now, somehow. I gave her a painkiller and some light sleeping pills since in this condition nothing better could help other than a good sleep...ah, please have a seat Haruka."
Haru heeded her words and with a nod sat on the chair placed opposite the couch.
Because Jinah wasn't awakened Haru didn't want to expose her to more than necessary magic, so he left things on modern-day medications. And from the sound of rhythmic snoring, Jinah seemed to be comfortably asleep.
"What about the Association? Did they contact you?"
Hearing Sung Il-Hwan questioning his son, it was Haru who answered.
"I talked to him. Chairman told us to report to him once we have rested enough. Well, he himself has a lot of work to handle as of now, so it is better if we meet him after some time."
Hearing Haru's reply the elder Sung nodded in understanding. Given how the recent incident was publicized and showed a new side of the dungeons and monsters, it was given that many nations would be at their wit's ends.
Fortunately, no damage was extended to any of the foreign nations so Korea wasn't liable to answer any of those calls out of responsibility, rather just obligation.
"More than that, Haruka....are you really fine?"
Hearing Jin-Woo's query, Haru blinked in confusion but before he could answer, he felt his mind getting sluggish and consciousness darkening.
The consequence of using the Six Eyes and the Elemental sight at the same time was extremely exhausting but since he was still on adrenaline until now, Haru didn't feel much from it.
But now...."I think I will take a nap if you both don't mi..."
Jin-Woo and Il-Hwan got a little worked up seeing Haru suddenly letting his hang low and his voice fading.
However, before they could move to check on him, Jin-Woo's mother called from the kitchen.
"Jin-Woo, can you help Haruka in your room? He seemed really tired, since earlier."
Jin-Woo was surprised that his mother was able to tell that even though Jin-Woo and Haru looked the same. Even now, Jin-Woo asked about the latter's well-being out of casual concern.
Regardless, Jin-Woo carried Haru to his bedroom and laid him down on the bed. While he was at it, he went to check on his sister as well.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen, Sung Il-Hwan approached his wife and began peeling some carrots to help her.
"Oh my, how sweet of you, dear." Il-Hwan smiled at that and took the mushrooms as well to wash them all clean.
The kitchen was surrounded by the slow sound of soup boiling and vegetables being chopped at a rhythmic pace. The atmosphere, despite being disturbed for a bit some hours ago, was tranquil and peaceful.
Something which Il-Hwan dearly missed while he was away. The lost time he hadn't spent with his family and left his wife alone to face all the suffering, Il-Hwan wanted to compensate for all of it.
He won't be able to fill the gap of a father immediately but with slow and steady steps, at least, he could try and make this family happy.
*Ding* *Dong*
"I will get that." Il-Hwan washed his hands before wiping them off on the kitchen towel as he made his way toward the main entrance.
Jin-Woo also came out of his room but halted when he saw the older man advancing.
Just as Sung Il-Hwan opened the door, the woman standing on the other side enquired in a hurried tone.
"Where is my baby?!"
