12 Loot

The legends said that a dragon's scales grew along with them from birth, never shedding. There was only one exception: that was a scale that grew in reverse. It was located under their necks, and that was where all the dragon's heart blood converged. It was also their weak point.

This reverse scale was a forbidden area to dragons. No one had better touch it, or the dragon's majestic fury would cause a bloodbath throughout the world, creating corpses throughout ten thousand miles.

Dragon Reverse Scales were ranked according to colours, with green being the weakest, azure, golden and lastly with crimson-gold being the strongest and rarest. Those were all the things that Perseus had heard in legends. But he had never imagined he would see a Crimson dragon's scale, let alone its reverse scale.

This legendary reverse scale was connected to the dragon's heart blood. After being nourished for a long time by that heart blood, it gained its own miraculous powers.

Provoking a reverse scale can cause it to release its powerful dragon might, which can be used as a weapon in battle. But to subdue a reverse scale, using brute force is an impossibility. One must use their will to subdue it, or it will never allow you to control it.

Yet here it was, right in front of Perseus. The only reason why the Reverse Scale hasn't been taken was because it found no one worthy of itself.

Quickly clearing his mind, Perseus calmed himself down. The reverse scale was a bonus, but Kamish's heart was his main objective. Even if he could subdue the reverse scale, what use would it have if Perseus was dead.

Slowly creeping towards the bones of the massive western dragon, Perseus took out a disguised Kamish's Wrath and started cutting away at the ribs that were protecting the heart.

After 5 minutes, Perseus stored away the cut bones and reached out to grab the pulsating scarlet-purple heart at the centre of the ribcage.

[Name: Kamish's Heart]

Type: Consumable

Rank: SSS

Description: The heart of Kamish, one of Antares, the King of Dragons and Monarch of Destruction's four dragon generals. Even in death, Kamish remains loyal to Antares. If the heart deems you unworthy or feels that you have no allegiance towards Antares, once consumed, the heart will explode.

Reading the description, Perseus wasn't surprised. He had already expected as much.

He intended to fuse Kamish's Heart with Demon King Baran's Heart to erase the mark of Antares.

Quickly placing the heart into his inventory, he made his way back to the reverse scale.

Even from 5 metres away, he could feel the might of the reverse scale.

Perseus shook his head and took a deep breath. He walked up to the dragon scale and reached out to grab it.

Since he couldn't resist this enticement, all he could do was try.

BUZZ!

When Perseus' hand grabbed the dragon scale, it suddenly released a harsh light, seemingly provoked, and a terrifying pressure shot out.

Despite having the traits of Kokushibo, the flesh on his arms exploded, appearing incredibly horrifying.

At the same time, a spiritual pressure filled the world, a pressure that could suppress all living things, even gods. Perseus felt as if his soul was being torn apart. He was able to bitterly endure the physical pain, but this spiritual pain was just unbearable.

This was not just pain, but a spiritual suppression. This was a pressure that would cause all things to be subdued, with not a single person being able to resist.

According to the legend, dragons were peak existences, even above gods. They were inherently haughty and could overlook the entire world. No one was able to form a heart to resist. That was a dragon's might.

In front of a dragon's might, people can only crawl beneath their feet. If they dared resist, they would be mercilessly erased.

Now, even the scale of a dead dragon caused Perseus' flesh to explode and make his soul feel like it was being torn apart. Furthermore, an involuntary feeling of subservient allegiance arose within him. Whatmore a true living dragon?

Instead of subduing the dragon scale, he was being subdued by it. That made Perseus feel great humiliation.

"Be suppressed!" Perseus clenched the dragon scale with both hands. He released all of his mana, completely ignoring the systems that were installed to prevent intruders.

He was sure that there were hunters rushing towards the basement at that exact moment already. There were many S Rank hunters in the FBH Headquarters and they would definitely have sensed the dragon aura coming from B24.

This clash of wills caused the entire surrounding to tremble. Although will was a formless existence, this clash released a terrifying pressure that seemed to have made space distort.

His arms were dyed with blood as he tightly clenched the dragon scale. Fresh blood continued to pour out of his arms. Perseus' eyes were tightly closed right now as he pushed his mana to its peak.

BUZZ!

Suddenly, space trembled intensely. Perseus spat out blood and was blown back.

Picking himself back up, Perseus suddenly began to laugh heartily; his laughter growing more and more delighted, seeming like a madman.

Ignoring the pain, he got back up and walked back to the dragon scale with a bright smile still on his face.

"I was misled. In truth, subduing the reverse scale was much simpler than I thought."

Perseus once more reached out to grab the dragon scale.

However, this time, Perseus didn't put up any defences at all. He didn't even release his mana before grabbing the dragon scale. As long as it released its dragon pressure, Perseus would be instantly crushed to death.

Yet, the dragon scale merely released a bright light and didn't release its dragon might.

Perseus' eyes were closed as he calmly gripped the dragon scale. As he held the dragon scale, it was as if the entire world had frozen

Each breath felt as long as a year, but then suddenly, the dragon scale released an even brighter light, causing Perseus' heart to clench.

That light grew ever brighter, lighting up the entire abyss, making it so people couldn't even see. However, even once that light reached its brightest point, no dragon might was released. Finally, the light began to fade.

Feeling that the reverse scale no longer had any hostility towards him, Perseus breathed a sigh of relief. Since a dragon scale could not be placed in the inventory due to their pride. They could only be carried on a person's body. Hence, dragon scales are often used to create weapons.

Just then, he heard the whirring sound of the gates being opened. Without wasting any more time, Perseus ripped Kamish's runestone out from the center of his skull, gripped the reverse scale tightly and tore the [Prototype Beacon], causing him to instantly disappear from the spot.

What lay in his wake was a desecrated basement, with bits of metal and steel strewn across the floor, and a huge hole in Kamish's skeletal structure.

A/N: For those of you wondering about MC'S blood on the floor, it was evaporated by the blinding light.

Thankfully, Perseus figured out why he couldn't subdue the reverse scale originally in time. Else, he would either be caught or he would have to escape without the scale.

A true dragon's scale contained its pride, and it would not submit to brute force. It was only because Perseus had managed to sense this that he had switched methods.

When his will had clashed with it, Perseus had realised that the dragon scale's will was similar to his own in that it would not surrender to any power.

Neither the dragon might nor his will were able to subdue the other. Instead, there was actually a slight resonance due to the similarity between their wills.

That was why Perseus had given up on suppressing it and tried using his will to connect with it. As a result, this gentle method had worked, and the dragon scale didn't reject him.

It was now connected to his soul, and can return to Perseus no matter the distance. It hadn't even taken that long for that scale to be moved emotionally by Perseus.
