Mate

"You have to find your mate today, no matter what. If you fail, don't even think of crossing the boundaries of Rolf's household. You are nothing but a disgrace to our family." Advin Rolf pinched the slender and fair arm of his daughter, Isabella Rolf. Advin was the beta and the second in command of the Moonshadow pack.

"I know, Father. I won't disappoint you." Isabella clenched her fists and lowered her head. She was powerless and could not do anything. She was the most useless werewolf in the Moonshadow pack. Her parents never cared about her and only thought of nurturing her brother, Nile Rolf. And why would they waste their time on her? She was nothing but a simple human born by werewolf parents. Her existence itself was a blemish on the Moonshadow pack.

"Good for you. You useless child." Advin harshly pushed Isabella, causing her to stumble a few steps back. He left her in the dark corridor and went to join other guests in the pack house.

"Ha, a useless child of a useless father. Father, I will remember these bruises for the rest of my life." Isabella raised her head. Her resentful eyes looked in the direction of where Advin left.

'Seraphine, I hope you will show your true self to everyone.' Isabella said to her wolf. Although Seraphine had never shown herself, Isabella could still feel her presence.

"Huh? What is this fragrance?" Before Isabella could comprehend, her feet started to move in the direction of the fragrance.

"It is strange. I have never been attracted to fragrances, but this one is different." Isabella murmured and made her way to the right of the corridor.

"Ethan, you have chosen me, and now that your mate has appeared, do you want to embarrass me in front of all the pack members?" Nearing the half-closed door, Isabella heard the panting voice of a woman. Her voice suggested that she was indulging in heavy exercise.

"What are you talking about? A nobody like her can never be my mate. You don't have to worry about a small fly." The voice of the man sounded eerily familiar to Isabella.

'The fragrance is coming from this room." Isabella narrowed her eyes in suspicion. She could somewhat guess the person they were talking about.

"I thought too highly of you, Alpha Ethan. But guess what? I was wrong. You are no better than a power-hungry man." Isabella slammed the door, which shocked the two intertwined bodies on the bed.

"Isabella Rolf, you are being disrespectful to your Alpha." Ethan unhurriedly zipped his pants and straightened his shirt.

"I was never a part of this pack. If not for your command, I would have left here long ago." Isabella felt her heart tearing apart. She had always thought of escaping this hell with her mate. But the mate she was waiting for had already selected his Luna.

"How atrocious of you to insult your Alpha. You are nothing but a lowlife. How dare you to show those hateful eyes of yours?" Thea walked up to Ethan and held his arm. She hated Isabella's grey mystic eyes. They were intoxicating and could attract any male.

"Do you want to see to which extent I can go? I'll show you." With that said, Isabella put her left hand to her heart to control the throbbing pain. She did not want to show her enemies how miserable and helpless she was.

"I, Isabella Rolf, daughter of Advin Rolf, reject you, Ethan Alvar- as my mate." After that, her body swayed a little, and her face turned pale. She could feel the shattering of the mate bond.

"Remember I dumped you, Alpha Ethan Alvar of the Moonshadow pack. I know my rejection won't have much effect on you because of your powers, but you will always remember the taste of rejection." Isabella steadied her swaying body and smiled.

She felt light, and for some unknown reason, she could feel the happiness of her wolf.

'You did well, Isabella. I will return to your side soon.' Isabella heard a faint voice in her head. She couldn't help but tremble.

'Seraphine?' Isabella asked, but there was no sound.

'She has left.' Isabella felt bitter in her heart.

"Ha! A mere filthy, unwanted daughter of my beta. You sure have guts. But you know, I am not going to persecute you. I have an even bigger surprise for you." Ethan chuckled and mind-linked his guards.

Three to four bulky guards walked into the room in a few minutes.

"Tie her in the room and make sure she won't escape from here," Ethan instructed the guards and was ready to leave with Thea in his arms when he was stopped by a sarcastic laugh.

"Why, Alpha Ethan? Are you afraid of letting your shitty pack members know that you were dumped by a nobody like me?" Isabella's pale lips lifted slightly. Her tears-stricken face shows her hatred for the two evils standing before her.

"Shut your filthy mouth, Isabella!" Thea strode towards Isabella and slapped her.

Isabella hissed in pain. Her right cheek turned blood red with Thea's hand imprinted on it.

"I won't bow down to you. You can't shut me! I am going to take my revenge by killing you both. I will never forgive you." Isabella yelled as the pain was unbearable for her.

"You...!" Thea was ready to strike again but was stopped by Ethan.

"Let me handle her, honey." Ethan kissed Thea's hand with which she had hit Isabella.

"Isabella, don't forget your family is also a part of my pack. You might not care about your parents, but I have heard that you love your brother dearly. In a few months, your brother will be my new beta. His future lies in your hands. If you utter a single word more, I have my guards through him in the royal dungeon and whip him till no life remains in him." Ethan pinched Isabella's thin chin and warned her.

Isabella bit on her lips and swallowed the curses she was about to hurl at Ethan and Thea. She gave up for the sake of her brother.

"Good girl. Now behave for the rest of the day." Ethan signalled the guards to tie Isabella.

"Also, she should not be harmed in any way," Ethan warned the guards with an evil smirk.

Isabella looked at the receding figures with a bitter smile on her lips.

'Seraphine, are you alright? Sorry for taking action without asking you, but I had no choice. I don't want to be miserable in front of them. They have hurt us enough, and now I won't give them any chance. Let's wait and see what that bastard Ethan is planning before taking action.' Although Seraphine did not reply to her, Isabella could feel the presence of her wolf and could not help but share her thoughts.

In the banquet hall, Ethan searched for Advin to warn him of his daughter.

"Baby, what do you mean by not hurting her? We can kill her, and no one will care to find her whereabouts." Thea grumbled unhappily.

"Killing her won't be a good thing. She is going to be a truce maker." Ethan gently stroked Thea's waist to show comfort.

"Do you mean she is going to be sold?" The smile on Thea's face widened, and her eyes twinkled for Isabella's misery.
