STELLA smiled at him and asked, "I don't see my sisters anywhere. Where are they?" She looked around for them, and Mr. Ferguson, who knew he had to put on a good font in front, tried to provide a smile.
"They are not here right now."
"Oh. That's a shame. I was hoping to meet them. I missed them a lot, actually."
"I'm sure you did." His eyes narrowed into a thin line.
Valeric, who could very well taste the ill intent oozing from the old man's eyes alone, hunched to look straight into his blue pupils.
"I'll blind you," he said coldly, with a blank expression. "I hate that you have her beautiful eyes."
Mr. Ferguson swallowed and immediately took two staggering steps back. "I'll let you two enjoy your evening." And he sprinted off, leaving the two alone. Stella glanced at Valeric and slapped his arm. "You scared him off!"
